Chapter 166 The Killing Intent Behind It
The raven leaned against the low wall, its chest aching terribly.
The bullet hit his armor, and although it didn't penetrate, the impact made his internal organs churn.
He spat, his saliva tinged with blood, and cursed under his breath. Then he rubbed his chest, took a couple of deep breaths, and calmed down.
He peeked out from behind the low wall, like a child spying, and glanced at Han Che.
Han Che stood in the middle of the hall, his back to him, observing the situation of the two shield soldiers.
Shi Ding leaned against a pillar, clutching his stomach, his hands covered in blood.
Shi Lei lay on the ground with a bullet hole in his back, blood gushing out and staining a large area of his clothes red.
Both of them were still conscious and moving.
Raven's eyes darted around. He raised his revolver, glanced casually at the two shield-bearers, and then grinned.
Boom!
Two bullets, trailing white contrails, flew straight toward Shi Ding and Shi Lei.
Han Che turned around abruptly. His senses had fully recovered, and he had sensed Raven firing the gun the moment it was fired.
He saw the two bullets flying towards him and immediately realized that their trajectory was aimed at Shi Ding and Shi Lei.
He glanced at his feet at Shi Lei's fallen shield. He stepped on the edge of the shield, flicked it upwards with his toe, and the shield flew up.
The shield spun twice in the air, blocking the bullet's trajectory.
Clang! Clang! Two bullets hit the shield, sending it flying. The shield rolled a few times on the ground before coming to a stop.
The raven watched this scene, and the corner of its mouth twitched.
As the shield flew up, he saw Han Che's eyes flashing red.
The face beneath the mask was not visible, but two gazes pierced through the gaps in the mask, fixing directly on the raven.
"Gheros, you're a really boring guy." His voice came from behind the low wall, with that smug laugh.
"I was just testing the reaction speed of your men, why are you getting so worked up?"
"Those two lying on the ground, they're not allowed to sleep here! Old Ge! We'll dock their pay when we get back."
Seeing that the warden outside hadn't responded or made a sound, Raven wanted to peek out again.
Boom!
Han Che stood up, turned towards the direction where the raven was hiding, and fired two shots.
The raven was startled back by the two shots before it could even peek out.
The bullets hit the bunker wall, kicking up large chunks of gravel and dust that splashed all over him.
"Hey, hey, hey, you don't hit someone in the face. How could you do this?" He paused, then suddenly remembered something and quickly said, "It's a deal, you guys don't have resurrections! You're only taking one life."
Han Che did not answer.
"If you don't speak, I'll take that as a yes!" A sharp, brief whistle followed.
Han Che frowned slightly. A rogue whistle? This time it wasn't a melody, and his perception hadn't changed much.
Then he felt a huge killing intent surging towards him from behind, like a tidal wave, and Han Che turned around abruptly.
The soldier with the sledgehammer, shot in the abdomen, stood up. His bulletproof vest was already torn, and blood from the bullet hole in his stomach was gushing out, dripping down his clothes and pooling on the ground.
He was bent over, his hands hanging at his sides, like a puppet on strings. He struggled to lift the hammer with one hand, the hammerhead dragging on the ground, carving a groove.
He somehow mustered the strength to lift the hammer and swing it at Han Che.
Han Che was naturally not going to be fazed by such slow movements. He raised his gun and aimed it at the head of the hammer-wielding soldier.
The hammer-wielding soldier looked up at him; his eyes were devoid of any light, but he still brought down the heavy hammer.
Without further hesitation, Han Che pulled the trigger.
boom! !
The bullet hit the sledgehammer soldier in the head, and blood spurted out from the back of his head, spraying a long distance.
The hammer-wielding soldier froze for a moment, then, as if struck by lightning, dropped his hammer, which slammed to the ground with a thud.
He was thrown backward by the force of the bullet. But in that instant before he fell, a smug smile flickered at the corner of his mouth.
When Han Che saw that smile, a thought flashed through his mind: something's not right.
Then he sensed killing intent; the killing intent did not disappear, nor did it diminish.
The killing intent didn't emanate from the fallen hammer-wielding soldier; it came from behind him.
Behind that fallen body, there was another person.
The two hammer-wielding soldiers stood one in front of the other, very close together, so close that their bodies were almost touching.
The hammer-wielding soldier in front blocked the one behind, their killing intent overlapping and emanating from the same direction.
The warden's killing intent could only be sensed from the direction, and the two hammers were extremely close together. The situation was also extremely sudden, which is why Han Che was unable to react in such a short time.
The last hammer-wielding soldier charged out from behind the fallen body in front.
The sledgehammer had already been swung in a wide arc, the hammerhead whistling as it swept horizontally across the room.
Han Che saw the giant hammer, its heavy head still stained with blood, growing larger and faster in his field of vision.
He had no time to dodge; the hammerhead blocked all his escape routes, and the gun was still pointed at the fallen hammer soldier on the ground, so he couldn't turn around at all.
Han Che made a decision: he crossed his arms in front of his chest to protect his head and chest, and took the blow head-on.
The hammer struck his arm.
boom!
With a muffled thud, Han Che felt as if his arm had been hit by a car.
The bones were cracking, from my wrist all the way to my shoulder, like the sound of a tree branch breaking.
The pain spread from my arm to my whole body, from my shoulder to my chest, from my chest to my abdomen, and from my abdomen to my legs.
His body flew up, his feet left the ground, and he flew backward.
He crashed into a wall, his back against it, making a dull thud.
The wall cracked, and the cracks extended outward from the point of impact, like a spider web.
He slid down the wall, crashed to the ground, and kicked up a cloud of dust.
Hearing the loud crash outside, the raven peered out and saw the warden fly out. It immediately jumped out from behind the low wall in excitement.
He raised two revolvers above his head and, like a circus clown, swayed as he walked towards Han Che.
"Haha! It worked! It worked!" His voice was loud, echoing in the empty hall, filled with frenzied excitement. "Gheros! You lost! You lost!"
He walked a few meters in front of where Han Che had been knocked away, stopped, and tilted his head to look into the dust.
The dust was slowly settling, and he saw a figure kneeling against the wall, dust still falling around him.
The figure's white mask was broken, revealing its right eye.
His forehead was covered in blood, which flowed down his nose, to the corner of his mouth, and dripped onto the ground.
His left arm hung down at his side, his right arm braced against the ground, his fingers digging into the broken bricks.
Raven looked in the direction of the warden, and then his smile slowly froze.
The warden is still alive!
