Delta: Who are you saying has suffered a loss of strength?

Chapter 172 Let's see how you perform

Shi Ding stood before the desk, his brow furrowed and lips pursed, as if he were struggling with an internal conflict. "Your Excellency, Warden," he finally spoke, "will we still be fighting against you in the future? If that's the case, we might as well eliminate them completely. The prison guards don't need their fighting strength."

Han Che looked at him and shook his head. "They'll definitely be in prison; we can't eliminate them completely."

Shi Ding frowned even more deeply. "Why?"

Han Che thought for a moment and chose a way they could understand. "These are the rules. Just as you will be resurrected, so will they; they can't be completely wiped out."

Shi Ding was silent for a few seconds. He stared into Han Che's eyes, and Han Che looked back at him.

There was a hint of resentment in Shi Ding's eyes, but he waited for Han Che to continue, knowing that the warden hadn't finished speaking.

"But it's alright." Han Che's voice relaxed a bit. "Occasional skirmishes can be seen as a test of your recent training results."

Shi Ding was stunned for a moment.

He looked at Han Che, whose tone didn't seem to be comforting them; Han Che genuinely didn't care. Shi Ding thought for a moment and nodded.

"Understood."

But Shi Ding hadn't left; he was still standing there.

Han Che could tell that Shi Ding still had something to say, "It's alright, Shi Ding, you can say whatever you want to say."

Shi Ding sighed. "Your Excellency, Warden, can Raven be trusted?"

Han Che looked at him and thought for two seconds. "I don't know. But judging from his performance, I think it's worth a try."

"Okay, then I'll keep a close eye on him when the prison opens next time." Shi Ding nodded, his tone resolute.

"Okay, let's go back. Explain things to the men down there."

"Yes." Shi Ding bowed, closed the door, turned and left, his footsteps fading into the distance in the corridor.

The office fell silent again. Han Che leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling.

The overhead light was a bit too bright, so he squinted.

The raven issue is finally resolved, at least temporarily.

He didn't know what would happen next. But at least for now, he could leave the prison with peace of mind to investigate other matters.

Time flies, and the next opening time for the Tide Prison is approaching.

Han Che came out of his office and walked down the corridor toward the prison area.

He pushed open the door.

The cell was dark. Raven lay on the hard bed, his hands folded under his head, his eyes closed, humming a tune so softly that it was hard to tell what song it was.

Hearing the door open, the raven didn't open its eyes, it just paused for a moment while humming its tune, and then continued humming.

Han Che walked in, stood beside the bed, and looked down at him.

The raven hummed a few more times before slowly opening one eye. Seeing it was the warden, it closed its eye again, a slight upturn of its lips.

"Oh, you're here?" The voice was languid, as if he had just woken up.

With its eyes closed, the raven continued, "Could you please give me a bigger room and a softer bed?"

"It depends on your performance." Han Che's voice was cold.

The raven opened its eyes and tilted its head to look at him. "What are you trying to do? Didn't I already agree to cooperate?"

"That's your job," Han Che said. "The Tidal Prison will reopen tomorrow, and I won't be there. You'll be in charge of keeping watch."

Raven paused for a moment, then sat up, bracing herself against the edge of the bed with both hands, and looked at Han Che.

"This is our first time working together. If you do well, I'll reward you and your men."

The raven stared at him for two seconds, then lay back down. He clasped his hands under his head, crossed his legs, and started swinging them.

"Okay, okay, I got it." The voice was still so lazy.

Han Che stood still, and he saw the raven's eyes roll around once, even though its eyelids were closed.

Then Raven suddenly opened his eyes, sat up in bed quickly, stared at Han Che, and his eyes lit up.

"If you're not in prison directing your guards, where are you going?"

The raven tilted its head and looked at him, but waited for a while without receiving a reply.

"You want to go to the player world?"

Raven's eyes brightened even more. He jumped off the bed, stood barefoot on the floor, and was half a head shorter than Han Che. He looked up at Han Che, and that sly smile on his face reappeared.

"I want to go too! Take me with you!"

Han Che rolled his eyes behind his mask. He turned around and walked towards the door.

"You'd better keep a good watch on the prison, and we'll talk again once you've gained my trust."

Raven leaned against the edge of the bed, arms crossed, watching Han Che's back.

With an "Oh," laced with disappointment, Crow knew the warden was unlikely to agree, but he didn't persist.

Han Che walked to the door, paused, and asked a question without turning around, his back to the raven.

"What was that whistle you used during the last operation?"

There was a moment of silence behind him, then the raven burst out laughing, the laughter coming from the bed.

Han Che could picture his expression: baring his teeth and narrowing his eyes into slits.

"We'll talk about it after you've gained my trust~" Raven mimicked Han Che's tone, then dragged out the last "we'll talk about it" for a long time and even took a detour.

The cell was silent.

Han Che stood at the doorway, motionless. He slowly turned around and looked at the raven.

Raven lay on the bed with his eyes closed, that smile still lingering on his lips. He opened one eye and peeked out, only to find the warden still standing there, staring at him, motionless.

The raven opened its eye, sat up, and spread its hands, as if to say, "Okay, okay, I surrender!"

"Alright, alright, I'll tell you." He cleared his throat. "My whistles and hallucinogenic smoke can disrupt the enemy's emotions, create chaos, and induce hallucinations."

"Stronger people have stronger resistance, while weaker people are more affected. Or, emotions such as injury, fear, apprehension, panic, and excitement can make people more susceptible to influence."

"As for your ability to see through smoke, it's probably related to your emotions as well."

"My whistle interfered with your senses, preventing you from seeing through the smoke." Raven snapped his fingers, a crisp sound echoing in the quiet cell. "That's it."

Han Che looked at him. "Why didn't you have this ability before?"

"I just learned how to do it after the last fight." Raven's tone was casual, as if he were talking about what he had for dinner today. "I also set up that evacuation point for your prison, so don't worry about it."

Han Che was stunned for a moment.

Evacuation point? He remembered the two people who chased after the hibiscus last time. They ran to the prison cell only to find that the evacuation point had changed. They ran to the water-powered canal, but it was already closed.

The newly added evacuation point turned out to be Raven Lane.

"You can even change the withdrawal point?" Han Che asked in surprise.

"No problem." The raven waved its hand and lay back down.

Han Che silently looked at Raven, whose eyes were closed and whose smile still lingered on its lips. This person was hiding more than he had imagined.
