The two days passed faster than expected amidst the busyness and waiting.
After returning from the river that night, Han Che became very quiet. He sat on the sofa for a long time in a daze after entering the house, and Qi Yuzhe didn't ask any questions.
When Han Che woke up the next day, his complexion was still not very good, but he did not miss any of the preparations needed for the battle.
Qi Yuzhe would occasionally exchange a few words with him, and he would reply, but his replies would be brief.
Qi Yuzhe didn't press him for details; some things can't be rushed.
Two days later, at the Zero Dam Teleportation Gate Plaza.
When Han Che and Qi Yuzhe walked in from the entrance of the square, Mule had already arrived. He was squatting on the edge of the square, looking down at his phone. He looked up when he heard footsteps.
"Brother Han, Brother Qi, you've arrived!" He stood up and took two steps to greet the two men.
"They're here," Qi Yuzhe responded, quickening his pace to approach the mule. "Is everyone here?"
"Sister Xiaobai and Qiuying haven't arrived yet. I just sent them a message, and they said they were stuck in traffic for a while, but they should be here soon."
As Mule spoke, he put his phone back in his pocket, his gaze naturally sweeping towards Han Che.
Han Che stood two steps away, his hands in his pockets, his gaze fixed on a spot on the ground, expressionless and silent.
The mule sensed something but didn't ask further. "Is all the equipment ready?"
Qi Yuzhe patted the ammunition pouch on his chest. "All set. How about yours?"
"I've checked it several times, no problem. Besides, we're the cheerleaders, so it doesn't matter. We can just lie back and relax, haha!" Mule said with a laugh.
"Oh! That still won't work. We need to be more careful."
"Don't worry," Mule smiled mysteriously and patted his backpack, "I can't guarantee anything else, but I have plenty of medicine! As long as you don't die instantly, I guarantee I can save you."
Qi Yuzhe looked at Mule's bulging backpack and laughed, "You really don't plan to scavenge for supplies? You haven't even set off yet and your backpack is already full. Once we're on the map, everyone else will be searching the whole world for things while you're carrying half a pharmacy around."
"The mission is important, the mission is important." Mule chuckled. "We're mainly playing a support role this time, so solid logistical support is more important than anything else."
Qi Yuzhe looked around the square and didn't see anyone from the Phoenix Cry Club, but the two teams from the Dragon Soaring Club had already arrived and were waiting around the teleportation gate.
There was also a group of men in black standing next to the portal.
This scene drew Qi Yuzhe's attention. "What are they doing over there?"
Following Qi Yuzhe's gaze, Mule said "Oh," and added, "Aren't we about to set off? The Dragon Club should send their tech team to check if the map boss, Said, has spawned inside the portal, so we don't end up empty-handed."
"Oh, I see." Qi Yuzhe looked at the tightly packed circle of men in black and clicked his tongue twice. "They've surrounded us so well that we can't see what the people in the middle are doing at all."
"After all, they certainly wouldn't easily reveal their skills," Luo Zi said, unsurprised.
"Won't all these plans be leaked once the joint training program starts?" Qi Yuzhe asked.
"That's none of our business. But by then, there might be many more technologies that we can use. It's hard to say whether that's good or bad for now."
Qi Yuzhe nodded.
After a while, the group of men in black next to the portal dispersed.
They changed their formation, from a circular stance to two columns, sandwiching the two technicians in the middle, and led them toward the exit of the square.
The two people were wearing white protective suits, completely covered from head to toe, with goggles and masks on their faces, making it impossible to tell their appearance or age.
They looked no different from ordinary staff members, and were escorted by men in black as they left along the passageway at the edge of the square.
Not long after those people left, Li Hao, who was in the Dragon Soaring Second Team, jogged over from the teleportation portal.
He ran up to Mule and Qi Yuzhe and stopped. He greeted Mule first, "Brother Mule." Then he turned to Han Che, "Brother Han." His gaze finally landed on Qi Yuzhe. Since they weren't very familiar, he just nodded politely.
"We've finished our testing. The team leader asked me to update you on the information to confirm that Said is present in Dam Zero today."
"Okay, thank you for your hard work." The mule nodded with a smile.
Li Hao exchanged a few pleasantries with Mule, just as Xiao Bai and Qiu Ying finally arrived.
The people from the Phoenix Cry Club arrived at the same time next to them. The two teams met at the entrance of the square and walked in together.
The remaining people from Longteng's side also gathered here.
The number of people in the portal plaza suddenly increased, with dark blue and dark red team uniforms intermingling.
Various voices and laughter mingled together as the group of people exchanged pleasantries.
"The equipment our club provided is already the best," a team leader-looking man from Fengming's side said to Qiuying with a smile. "It's been a long time since we've used this kind of equipment on a mission. The ammunition and protection are top-of-the-line."
"Hehe, after all, you are the main attackers. It's hard for a small club like ours to even put together a good set of equipment." Qiu Ying flattered, but it was hard to tell how sincere she was.
"Our technicians have just confirmed that Said is there." Li Hao then shared the information with the people at the Fengming Club.
"It's good enough. It'll save us from making a wasted trip. Once we're inside, we can determine the exact location."
"Then we'll have to see Brother Zhao show his skills!" someone from Long Teng's side added with a laugh.
"No, no, no, you don't deserve that. Let's all work together; after all, it's about fighting a boss!"
The four teams from Longteng and Fengming clubs were much more relaxed than when the supervisors were present that day.
These people naturally run into each other often and know each other. Their relationship may not be particularly good, but the prestige and status of a top-tier club make them very polite to each other.
"Wow, it's been a long time since we've deployed so many fully equipped teams," someone on the Longteng team exclaimed. "Very rare indeed!"
"Hey! Who says otherwise! I think our lineup is overkill. I think it could even take on the warden!" someone from Fengming chimed in.
"Hahahaha!" Several people laughed.
Qi Yuzhe's eyes twitched. Why was he always thinking of fighting the warden? As he spoke, he glanced at Han Che, who was silent beside him. He was still the same as before.
However, Xiao Bai seemed to have moved closer to Han Che and was whispering something.
Amid the noisy scene, Xiaobai moved closer to Han Che.
She stood in a position that blocked the draft, turning sideways to shield herself from the cold air. She tilted her head slightly upwards to look at his gloomy face and asked softly, "What's wrong? Han Che? Are you feeling unwell?"
"No..." Han Che paused for a moment, then made up a reason, "I'm a little nervous."
"Nervous?" Xiaobai was taken aback, then chuckled and covered her mouth.
"What are you laughing at?" Han Che asked, puzzled.
"You're nervous? You were in a one-on-one fight with Said before, and you were blown up like that, but I didn't hear you say you were nervous at all," Xiaobai laughed, her eyes crinkling.
"..." Han Che remained silent, clearly aware that his answer was not very convincing.
"Don't do that this time, okay? Even though we're not as good as you, we can always help you out. Don't try to be strong all by yourself," Xiaobai said earnestly.
"It's not our turn to make a move this time, is it?" Han Che said calmly.
"Yeah, that's true." Xiaobai nodded. "I'm not just talking about fighting, but about everything else too. You have so many friends here, so don't carry the burden alone when you're in trouble."
Han Che was taken aback and looked down, just in time to see Xiao Bai's big eyes staring straight at him.
My muddled thoughts seemed to have cleared up a bit.
Friends?
"I understand," Han Che said softly.
