Mai Qiyao remained silent throughout the journey.

He gripped the steering wheel with both hands, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. Occasionally, when he stopped at a traffic light, he would tap the edge of the steering wheel lightly with his fingers, but that was all.

Outside the train window, the silhouettes of streetlights and roadside trees receded into the distance. The city's night view became somewhat blurry in the quiet carriage, and the alternating light and shadow swept across Xiao Bai's face.

She glanced at Mai Qiyao in the driver's seat; in her memory, her father was rarely this silent in private.

She opened her mouth as if to ask something, but seeing his expression, she swallowed the words back and turned to look out the window again.

As the car drove through the gate, the security guard at the gate raised his hand to greet him, and Mai Qiyao nodded in response. Then the car turned into the underground parking garage.

After the engine was turned off, the car was quiet for a moment. Mai Qiyao opened the car door and left a message, "Come to my study," before walking upstairs without looking back.

Xiao Bai couldn't understand what was wrong with Mai Qiyao, so he followed him upstairs.

I pushed open the door to Mai Qiyao's study and walked to the sofa opposite the desk, where I sat down gently.

She sat down and waited for Mai Qiyao to speak, but Mai Qiyao remained in that position without moving.

The room remained silent for a while. Xiao Bai grew impatient and couldn't help but sigh. "Chairman Mai, what exactly are you trying to say? Are you just keeping me out of the club?"

Mai Qiyao finally raised his head, looking in the direction of Xiaobai, but still didn't say anything.

Xiao Bai sighed and stood up from the sofa. "Alright, just call me if anything comes up. I'm going back now."

She got up and started to walk towards the door.

"Stop." Mai Qiyao finally spoke.

Xiao Bai stopped walking as well. She didn't really intend to leave, but she urged Mai Qiyao to speak up.

"Your mother is right. You should stay away from dangerous areas from now on."

"What?" Xiaobai turned around and her impatient expression completely disappeared, replaced by an expression of disbelief.

"Why? Haven't you always supported me?" She took two steps forward and returned to the desk, placing her hands on the tabletop as she looked at Mai Qiyao's face.

Mai Qiyao didn't avoid her gaze. "Things are different now."

Xiao Bai pressed on, "What's different? Is it because my club is going to take off? Or is it something else?"

Mai Qiyao shook his head. "It has nothing to do with that."

"Why is that? That mission you guys were running almost killed everyone. Wasn't it specifically targeting us?"

It's impossible to say that Xiaobai wasn't angry, but her relationship with her father had always been quite good, so she wasn't really angry with him.

At first, she wondered if her father had deliberately contacted the Fengming Club to arrange things for her, but she dismissed that idea; her father wasn't that kind of person.

Since Uncle Liu said it was a decision made by his subordinates without authorization, she didn't want to get into any conspiracy theories.

However, Mai Qiyao's sudden statement still surprised him greatly.

"I know everything that happened today! It's true that there was a problem on Lao Liu's side, but let me ask you, what exactly happened? Huh? Boss Xiao Bai?"

Mai Qiyao deliberately emphasized the last part of the title, "The entire club's players evacuated safely, but you, the club owner, failed to evacuate? What are you doing? What are your players doing?"

Xiaobai was stumped by his series of questions. She opened her mouth to answer but didn't know how to respond.

Before she could answer, Mai Qiyao seemed to have a lot to say, "Didn't your club hire two particularly skilled thugs? That live stream caused quite a stir, what kind of 'twin stars' were they, two against a dozen? What are they good for? They can't even protect their own boss?"

"Xiao Bai finally couldn't hold back anymore, "No! The situation was very urgent! This time, Said was stronger than before, and we almost suffered a total annihilation."

She spoke urgently, wanting to explain clearly, but after she finished, she noticed that Mai Qiyao's expression became even stranger.

Mai Qiyao picked up where she left off, "So you, the newbie boss, single-handedly saved the entire club, is that what you mean?" He gave a light snort.

Xiao Bai's voice softened a bit at this point, "No... it's the result of everyone's joint efforts."

Mai Qiyao couldn't help but laugh as he listened to his daughter's official rhetoric.

He suddenly changed the subject, "Your club, those two so-called 'twin stars,' where did you find those top-tier players? Huh?"

Xiaobai was taken aback by the question; she didn't understand how the topic had suddenly shifted to this. She blinked. "What do you mean?"

Seeing Xiaobai's bewildered expression, Mai Qiyao pulled two documents from the drawer and threw them on the table.

See for yourself!

Xiao Bai walked over in confusion and reached out to pick up the one on top.

When she turned to the first page, she saw Han Che's photo, his ID photo.

She flipped through the document line by line. It was a detailed background check report, with each category meticulously listed, from educational background to work experience to social relationships to past records of entering dangerous areas. Each item had its own specific entry and fill-in-the-blank space.

What Xiaobai found strange was that almost all the fields were blank. Some fields said "no record found" and others said "no record found". In summary, the survey only contained the most basic information such as name, gender, and date of birth.

When Xiaobai turned to the second page, she found it was blank, just like the first page. She looked up at Mai Qiyao and asked, "What does this mean?"

"You're asking me? I'd like to ask you the same thing!" Mai Qiyao banged on the table. "Two copies, read them!"

Xiaobai put down the first document and picked up the second one.

Upon opening it, there was indeed Qi Yuzhe's photo and information, with the same format as Han Che's, completely blank except for basic information.

Xiao Bai was also a little puzzled at this point.

Looking at her, Mai Qiyao said, "Both of you are experts, and your resumes are so clean?"

"Isn't it better to be clean?" Xiaobai retorted stubbornly.

"Heh!" Mai Qiyao sneered, "Clean is good! Very good!"

"You think you're hiring recent college graduates? At least college graduates' resumes list their previous student work experience!"

"What about those two? Their marksmanship and tactics are off the charts, yet their resumes are blank?"

"The Casual Players Association has no record of them entering dangerous areas before! Are they kidding me?"
