Chapter 77 Logan's Package
Benjamin opened the drawer, picked up a notebook, and turned to a page.
On the blank page, lines of text formed from black ink are appearing out of thin air.
He stared at the constantly appearing words, his eyes completely unmoved.
A moment later, he closed the notebook, put it back in the drawer, and then got up and went to the next room.
The door was ajar. He raised his hand and knocked lightly on the open door twice. The soft sound of his knuckles striking the wood was particularly clear in the deathly silent basement.
Inside the room, two men dressed in black suits sat facing each other. On the square table between them was a chessboard with black and white pieces scattered across its surface.
One of them held a chess piece between his fingers, staring intently at the chessboard, scrutinizing it repeatedly. His eyes were full of caution and contemplation as he hesitated to make a move.
Hearing the noise at the door, the two of them turned around almost simultaneously.
"There's been progress on Vivian's side. We need to expedite the restart of the temporary stronghold formation," Benjamin said in a deep voice, standing at the door without entering the room.
"It's already underway, Captain," a young man in his early twenties immediately replied.
"We're still missing some materials for restarting a few formations, and we've already written a report and submitted it to our superiors," the more composed man holding the chess piece added.
Now that he had confirmed the identities of his two neighbors, he had to be extra careful.
For the torchbearer, obtaining the key to his room or opening his door using occult methods is not difficult.
He had to go to work during the day, so he made a lot of preparations in advance to make sure that no one would sneak into the room during this time.
Before entering, he first looked at the patch of dust that seemed to have settled naturally by the door.
There was a tiny crumb the size of a sesame seed in the dust, its color slightly different from the surrounding dust; it was a bread crumb he had placed there that morning.
After confirming that the location of the breadcrumbs was exactly the same as when he left in the morning, he turned his attention to the upper right and lower left corners of the door crack.
These two positions are on opposite corners of the door, making them difficult to spot simultaneously. Chris clipped a strand of hair to each of these positions.
At this moment, he visualized the Star Key in his mind, allowing himself to enter a state of absolute tranquility, and all his sensory abilities were elevated to their peak.
Chris knew very well that the state he had achieved with the Star Key was something that other extraordinary beings who were also Spirit Masters would find difficult to reach.
After all, extraordinary individuals at the Spirit Envoy level, apart from possessing stronger spirituality and corresponding abilities for the Holy Path, do not achieve far greater improvements than ordinary people in other aspects.
The two strands of hair were tightly wedged in the crack of the door, with only the tips of the hairs protruding less than a millimeter.
Chris simultaneously pinpointed the location of the two strands of hair, comparing them to the patterns around the door frame to confirm that neither strand had been moved. Only then did he slowly push open the door and collect the two fallen strands of hair.
Upon entering, he did not immediately go inside. Instead, he carefully scanned every corner of the living room to confirm that all the furnishings were exactly as he remembered them before stepping inside.
He casually placed his briefcase on the table and poured himself a glass of boiled water that he had prepared in advance the night before.
Sitting in his chair, Chris let his gaze wander, enjoying the rare tranquility after get off work.
A moment later, he got up, picked up his briefcase, and walked to the bedroom door.
Chris visualized the Star Key again, activated his spiritual vision, and scanned the bedroom door.
In his spiritual vision state, he could clearly see a nearly transparent layer of pale spiritual energy covering the door, emanating an aura unique to him.
This is a basic spiritual practice he learned from Benjamin and Cole's conversation; it can be considered a simple spiritual barrier.
Its method of activation is very simple, but it is also extremely fragile. It has no defensive capabilities whatsoever. Any physical opening action or spiritual exploration will cause this fragile barrier to completely collapse.
This was Chris's last line of defense; the aura emanating from the barrier couldn't be faked.
After entering the bedroom, Chris closed the door behind him, took out the package containing the obsidian, and carefully opened it.
A square black velvet box appeared in his palm, almost identical to the obsidian box Logan had shown him that day.
Chris activated his spiritual vision again, focusing on the box in his hand, and was surprised to find that the box was also covered with a faint spiritual barrier.
His spiritual vision had already been activated, and before he could withdraw his spirituality, his own spirituality immediately touched the barrier. The barrier instantly collapsed, and the box returned to its normal appearance.
Only then did he vaguely sense through the box an aura that was exactly the same as that day.
That barrier was probably set up by Logan to conceal the aura of the ley line throat within the obsidian.
But this fragile barrier has remained intact until now. Does this mean that the Imperial Post Office never inspected the package?
This completely contradicts Chris's previous guesses.
He had assumed that the Imperial Post Office would perform extraordinary power checks on all mail.
Why did Logan say that items mailed through the Imperial Post Office were absolutely safe?
Chris shook his head, putting those questions aside for the time being.
He opened the box, and an irregular black crystal the size of a fingernail came into view. Inside the crystal, a few tiny golden specks of light were faintly floating.
Inside the box was the obsidian that Logan had shown him that day, which Logan called a fragment of the Holy Body.
Sensing the aura emanating from the golden light inside, Chris immediately closed the box, took out the secret box from under the bed, put the box inside, along with his star card and the purple crystal.
Having done all this, Chris connected with the Star Key and entered that mysterious space...
