Detective Conan: The Superpowered Beings of the Detective Conan World

Chapter 14 The Armored Man's Nightmare in the Medieval Art Museum

In Professor Agasa's living room, the professor and Conan quickly gathered around, looking at the newly added request and falling into deep thought.

"My Agasa Detective Agency hasn't received any cases for a while, so why are we getting one now?"

Professor Agasa touched his smooth head, a look of doubt on his face.

"I remember this. A few days ago, Ran mentioned it to me. Sonoko told her that there were rumors about armored figures that move at night at the Beika Medieval Museum of Art recently."

Conan stared at the request on the screen, lost in thought.

"Could this be that the black-clad organization has their eyes on you and is trying to lure you out?"

Dr. Agasa spoke with a hint of worry in his eyes.

"No, the incident at this art museum happened a week ago, so there's no possibility that the Black Organization planned this in advance."

Conan shook his head slightly, carefully examined the message on the computer, and continued:

"Over the past year, Agasa Detective Agency has solved some cases, so it's normal to have new commissions."

Although Shinichi Kudo is only nominally affiliated with the Agasa Detective Agency, he occasionally receives cases and will handle them when he is not busy. The Agasa Detective Agency is not completely uninvolved in its affairs.

"What should we do? My assistant Conan, should we investigate?"

Hoshino Hikaru raised an eyebrow, revealing an expression of great interest.

Based on previous experience, solving the Abyss case can obtain light energy. The original initial light energy of 100 points increased by 50 in the Roller Coaster incident. The "Sword of Light" and "Light Bullet" used to deal with Gin consumed 50 and 50 respectively. Now, Hoshino Hikari has a total of 50 light energy left. Although it is not too little, it is not too much either.

Given the opportunity, Hoshino Hikaru would naturally not mind handling some Abyss cases to increase his light energy reserves.

"Who is your assistant?"

Conan rolled his eyes slightly, but then fell into thought and spoke:

"I'm currently undocumented, so it's not convenient for me to show up, but it wouldn't be good for the doctor to refuse the commission without a reason. What do you think? Should we go?"

"I'll go take a look. From now on, as Detective Hoshino of the Agasa Detective Agency, I'll be dealing with all sorts of cases quite often, so let's keep in touch by phone."

Hoshino Hikaru nodded slightly, stood up and prepared to leave, while recalling the plot of the medieval art museum from her past life.

"The Murder at the Art Museum" is considered one of the more classic cases in the early Conan world. Although Hoshino Hikaru has forgotten most of the Conan cases, he still has a deep impression of childhood traumas such as "The Murder at the Art Museum" and "The Bandaged Man," as well as various theatrical versions.

In the "Museum Murder Case," it all started with an armored figure walking around at night in an art museum, carrying a sword. The armored figure was actually the museum director, who was practicing murder.

The case tells the story of an elderly museum director named Ochiai, who loved art and regarded the museum as a spiritual sustenance. However, due to management problems, the owner behind the scenes sold the museum to an owner named Manaka.

The owner, Manaka, initially promised to preserve the art museum, but later went back on his word and planned to demolish it and turn it into a hotel. Unable to accept this, the museum director decided to kill the swindler, Manaka, and frame Kubota, an employee who stole artwork from the museum to sell. He then practiced walking in armor every night.

Later, when Mr. Manaka appeared at the art museum, this elderly man, who was over sixty years old, wearing medieval armor from the museum, used a long spear to nail the young Mr. Manaka to the wall.

This case is one of the few in the entire world of Detective Conan where there is surveillance footage, but the footage only has visuals and no audio.

Before killing Boss Manaka while wearing armor, Director Ochiai deliberately placed a note with the name of employee Kubota on it and a pen that could not write on it on the table. Then he took a sword and slashed Boss Manaka.

When the boss noticed the paper and pen, he tried to write on the paper that the murderer was the gym owner, but found that the pen could not write. Moreover, the note also had Kubota's name on it. In a fit of anger, he threw the pen away and was subsequently killed by the gym owner.

The scene of Boss Manaka writing was captured by surveillance cameras. Because of this, Inspector Megure mistook the framed Kubota for the real culprit, but Conan eventually saw through the deception.

"But in this world, are the armored figures that move truly only created by the curator?"

Hikaru Hoshino fell into deep thought for a moment. The supernatural world he was in now was different from the original world. The plot in his mind could be used as a reference, but it could not be completely believed.

When Hoshino Hikaru looked at this case in his previous life, he was puzzled. The curator, an old man with white beard and eyebrows who looked to be in his sixties or seventies, could actually kill people with agility while wearing armor that was passed down from the Middle Ages and weighed dozens of kilograms, without even breaking a sweat.

Thinking of the rumors about the armored man that had started a week ago, various thoughts flashed through Hoshino Hikaru's mind. After noting down the contact information of the person who had asked for his help, Kubota, he grabbed Conan and set off immediately.

……

In front of the medieval art museum, Hikaru Hoshino stood quietly by himself, glancing at the time on his watch every now and then.

"Excuse me, are you from Agasa Detective Agency?"

A somewhat suspicious voice came from behind. A man dressed in black, who looked pale, slowly walked over and asked Hoshino Hikaru and Conan with a puzzled tone.

"You must be Mr. Kubota. Hello, I'm Detective Agasa's assistant, Hikaru Hoshino."

Hikaru Hoshino immediately gave a perfectly timed smile and shook hands with Kubota.

"Is that so? Thank you, Detective Hoshino."

Kubota sighed slightly, clearly dissatisfied that the detective had only sent a stranger as an assistant, but he still forced himself to speak.

"Mr. Kubota, you look a little tired. Is it related to your request?"

Hoshino released his grip, looked at Kubota's expression, and asked with some confusion.

At this moment, Kubota's face was visibly haggard, with clearly visible dark circles under his eyes, and his skin was as white as paper. His steps also seemed somewhat unsteady.

"Well, this matter is a bit complicated. Please come with me."

Kubota sighed slightly, then led Hoshino Hikaru through the staff entrance at the back door into the art museum, and soon arrived at a small room.

"Excuse me, Detective Hoshino, the curator is in the lobby, and I don't want him to see me. Please have a seat."

Kubota pointed to a sofa on one side, then sat down on another sofa opposite him, rubbing his temples wearily.

Hoshino Hikaru nodded slightly and sat on the sofa, looking around.

"Detective Hoshino, to be honest, you're not the first detective I've consulted. I've already consulted three other detectives and even reported the case to the Superpower Bureau, but no one could solve the problem. I had no other choice but to come to Agasa Detective Agency."

Kubota looked at Hoshino Hikaru and gave a tired, bitter smile, looking like he hadn't slept well for many days.

"Oh? Are you talking about the armored men who walk at night that's been rumored lately?"

Hoshino Hikaru spoke directly, while simultaneously observing Kubota's every expression, a golden light flashing in his eyes as he activated "Eye of Light."
