Detective Conan: The Superpowered Beings of the Detective Conan World

Chapter 35 The Bandaged Monster's Murder Game Begins

The Bandaged Man case is a classic case that leaves a deep impression in the world of Detective Conan. It features the familiar Storm Eye Villa pattern, Sonoko's villa, the cut suspension bridge, and the severed telephone line.

In the original storyline, it all started with a plagiarism incident two years ago. Sonoko's older sister, Ayako Suzuki, had a film club with six members in college.

One of the girls, Atsuko, wrote a novel called "Sky-Colored Kingdom," which was plagiarized by Chikako from the same club. Chikako won a newcomer award for the book, while Atsuko, unable to bear the blow, committed suicide.

Afterwards, the members of the club gradually drifted apart. Suzuki Ayako thought it would be good for everyone to get together, so she invited the remaining members over. Unexpectedly, Takahashi discovered that Chikako had plagiarized, so he killed and dismembered Chikako and used his methods to create a fake bandaged monster.

"In the original story, Atsuko, who died two years ago, did not die. She even married Takahashi, who was originally there to avenge her. Chika, who was originally plagiarized, did not appear."

Many thoughts flashed through Hoshino Hikaru's mind, but in reality, only a moment passed before Sonoko's introduction continued.

"The last two are the club's model couple, Takahashi Ryoichi and Takahashi Atsuko, who recently got married."

Sonoko pointed to the last two people and introduced them with some excitement.

"Huh? Are you two a couple? Then you can get married right after graduating from university!"

Ran gasped in surprise, her eyes darting slightly as she glanced at Conan out of the corner of her eye, but no one noticed.

"Yes, back then, when Atsuko and Takahashi got together, it shocked us all quite a bit!"

Hiroki Kakutani, who was taking pictures with a camera nearby, spoke while pointing his camera at the two of them.

"Yeah, Takahashi played the hero, saving the damsel in distress, and incidentally, causing Chika's death!"

Ota Katsu, sitting on the other side, spoke with a somewhat sarcastic tone.

"Ota! Why are you bringing her up?"

Ryoichi Takahashi slammed his hand on the table, looking furious, as if he was suppressing a raging storm within him.

"It doesn't mean anything, it's just that Chikako has been dead for so long..."

"Ryoichi, don't be like this, it's all in the past."

Atsuko quickly tugged at Takahashi Ryoichi's wrist and spoke urgently.

"Sorry, I got too excited."

Takahashi took a deep breath and apologized in a low voice.

Seeing this, the others immediately tried to smooth things over, and the atmosphere gradually returned to normal.

"It seems like something unpleasant happened between them in the past. What, have you discovered a problem?"

Ai Haibara put down her cutlery and asked in a calm, low voice.

"No, I'm just a little curious. After all, Conan is a bit strange. When I go out with him, we often encounter all sorts of cases, so I subconsciously pay attention to the past of the people around me."

Hikaru Hoshino shook his head slightly, gave a brief explanation, and then fell into thought.

"I didn't expect you to believe such a thing."

Ai Haibara rolled her eyes at Hikaru Hoshino. As a scientist, she didn't believe in the mystical idea that incidents always happened around detectives.

Although there were a few unpleasant little incidents during the dinner, the overall atmosphere was still good. Led by Ayako, the group reminisced about some wonderful times in college, and with Sonoko guiding the conversation, the atmosphere was generally very harmonious.

Soon after dinner, everyone went back to their rooms to rest, preparing to participate in group activities later in the evening.

"What do you think of what they said about Chikako?"

In the room, Hoshino Hikaru leaned against the bed and looked at Conan, asking a question.

"I heard Sonoko and Ran explain it to me."

Conan also lay down on the bed and calmly began to explain:

"According to Sonoko, Chikako was originally a member of Ayako's university club, but she committed suicide after being discovered trying to steal Atsuko's first novel."

"It is said that Mr. Takahashi discovered that Chikako had stolen the novel manuscript and was preparing to plagiarize it. He caught Chikako on the spot and publicized it at school. Chikako was pointed at and gossiped about by many people and eventually committed suicide."

"Because of this incident, the relationship between the group became quite complicated. Mr. Kakutani and Mr. Ota may have felt that Chikako had indeed made a mistake, but it was not a capital offense. Or perhaps they were simply saddened to see their former friend die, and they gradually drifted apart."

"So that's how it is. There's such a past."

Hikaru Hoshino stroked his chin, lost in thought for a moment.

Judging from the current situation, the turning point between the original work and the original work is that Takahashi discovered Chikako's plagiarism in time, so Atsuko, who was originally going to commit suicide, survived, while Chikako, who was originally going to rise to prominence by plagiarism, committed suicide after being cyberbullied at school.

From this perspective, Takahashi, who originally killed the man pretending to be the bandaged man, no longer has a motive to seek revenge on Chikako, nor does he have anyone to seek revenge against. It is likely that the bandaged man murder case will not occur.

Hoshino Hikaru shook her head with mixed feelings, not wanting to think about anything further, and closed her eyes to rest.

……

"what!"

After an unknown amount of time, a piercing scream suddenly rang out, instantly waking everyone up.

"That voice...it's Sonoko!"

Conan jumped up, pushed open the door, and rushed out.

"What happened?"

Hoshino Hikaru's expression turned somewhat grim. He sped off in the direction the sound came from, rushing into another room before Conan could get there.

"What's wrong? Hmm!"

When Hoshino Hikaru entered Ota Masaru's room, Sonoko and Ayako were already standing stiffly to the side, with Ayako covering her face with her hands, looking quite surprised.

In the middle of the room lay a familiar figure—it was Ota Masaru. However, his face was lifeless, clearly having been dead for some time. The window was shattered, and numerous footprints were scattered across the floor, which was stained crimson with blood.

"What's wrong?"

As the footsteps drew closer, Ran, Ai, and the others arrived at the scene one after another, and a sharp explosion erupted instantly.

"Sonoko, call the police immediately. Ran, go outside and check if there's anything wrong with the suspension bridge. Can we leave now? Everyone else, please don't move around and don't go near the deceased."

Hoshino Hikaru took a deep breath, took out disposable shoe covers and gloves from his pocket, examined the body closely, and after confirming that there was no possibility of survival, he began to give instructions in an orderly manner.

"Wait, who are you? You're just a high school student. What gives you the right to order me around..."

Upon hearing Hoshino Hikaru's words, Takahashi Ryoichi frowned instantly and spoke in a somewhat unfriendly tone.

"I'm a detective, and I'm in charge here for now until the police arrive!"

Hikaru Hoshino took out his detective's badge from his pocket and waved it in front of the group.

Although Hoshino Hikaru is only an apprentice detective now, the fact that she was able to become an apprentice detective in high school already proves something.

Takahashi opened his mouth, but in the end, he swallowed back what he wanted to say.
