Chapter 32 Earth Elemental Cannon

"No malicious intent?"

Russell chuckled. "So what are you doing now?"

"call out!"

Two spikes suddenly shot out from beside Russell, but were blocked by his instantaneous wind barrier.

Russell can now cast Wind Barrier instantly, while Swiftness requires a 0.6-second casting time.

"I don't know if Lord Willis harbors any ill will towards me. But wouldn't it be a little more obvious if you did?"

Russell shook his head and casually shot out a wind blade.

"What outdated magic."

The black-robed wizard apprentice sneered, "What right does someone like you, born in such a remote and backward place, have to be valued by Instructor Willis?"

"Remember, the man who killed you was named Anders."

Anders' body became invisible again, disappearing without a trace.

"So you were worried that my allegiance to Lord Willis would affect your position?"

"So, you want to kill me, and then you can decide for yourself whether I surrender or not. That's a pretty good idea."

Russell glanced around, the wind barrier still on his body.

"Your spell is quite interesting; it completely conceals sound, smell, and even mental fluctuations."

"If it were an ordinary wizard apprentice, they probably wouldn't have been able to deal with this move at all."

Russell muttered a lot to himself, but Anders didn't react at all, and didn't even launch an attack.

"Are you trying to make me maintain defensive spells indefinitely, draining my mental energy?"

A minute later, Anders still didn't make a move.

In response, Russell immediately removed the wind barrier that had been surrounding him.

The pale blue aura that had gathered around Russell dissipated and vanished into the world. He opened his arms and said directly:

"I've removed the wind barrier. Come on, let me see what you're capable of."

After removing the wind barrier, Russell coordinated his gestures and chanted for a moment, after which a gentle breeze swirled around him.

Swiftness.

"call out!"

A spike suddenly shot out from the ground.

"The elemental fluctuations are too obvious; who could this attack possibly hit?"

Russell leaped lightly backward, his body soaring several meters before landing on the ground.

As soon as he landed, another spike formed, which Russell easily dodged again.

After several attempts, Anders seemed to realize that this tactic was ineffective against Russell, so he fell silent and stopped attacking.

"Anders, is that all you've got?" Russell mocked.

"You've said so much here, aren't you just trying to make me blurt out something, thus revealing your true colors?"

Anders' voice came from all directions, making it impossible to discern the source: "Unfortunately, speaking won't reveal my location."

"So what? I guess your invisibility spell requires a continuous drain on your mental energy, but perhaps not much, so you're confident you can outlast my wind barrier."

"However, I no longer maintain the wind barrier, so the consumption is minimal. Your use of earth spikes to attack me will also consume mental energy."

"I only use the Swiftness spell, and the mental energy consumed is negligible. In this war of attrition, I have the advantage."

"So, what are you going to do?"

Russell continued to look around, his mouth never stopping for a moment.

"Your understanding of magic is only at the level of Lord Shilin's era five hundred years ago."

"The development of wizardry is changing rapidly. Things from five hundred years ago should have been swept into the dustbin long ago. Only someone as backward as you would treat them as treasures."

Anders' voice rang out again.

"What do you mean by that?" Russell frowned slightly. Being out of touch with the times was indeed a problem.

Just like in his previous life, from the appearance of the first mobile phone to the level when Russell traveled through time, it only took a few decades to develop.

Yet they became almost entirely different.

This is a change that even human imagination cannot fathom.

Russell couldn't even imagine what it would be like in a few hundred years.

Not to mention the changes in the wizarding world over the past five hundred years, this is an absolutely terrifying dimensional reduction attack.

"What do I mean? Heh, keep dragging this out, you'll find out soon enough."

After Anders said one more thing, he didn't react no matter what Russell said.

The spike attack also did not reappear.

Russell cast a Swiftness spell on himself and remained on high alert, constantly looking around, trying to find any clues about Anders.

Suddenly, Russell sensed a violent elemental fluctuation and, without hesitation, cast a wind barrier and tore apart the two spell scrolls hidden in his hand.

The spell sealed in these two spell scrolls is still Wind Barrier.

At this moment, three wind barriers enveloped Russell, giving him a sense of security.

"boom!"

A deafening roar erupted.

The first wind barrier shattered instantly, while the second wind barrier held up for only a moment before becoming riddled with cracks.

Russell instantly activated the Ring of Lilott, controlling the wind element in the world to repair the damage to the wind barrier.

However, this only allowed the second wind barrier to hold out for a short while longer before it shattered.

This bought Russell valuable time, allowing him to take out two more spell scrolls from his storage artifact and tear them open.

It's still a wind barrier.

The third wind barrier shattered.

The fourth wind barrier lasted much longer, but it still broke.

The fifth wind barrier, though still full of cracks, ultimately held up.

"Five level zero intermediate defensive spells were barely enough to defend against your one spell. Impressive."

Only then did Russell have a chance to see what had nearly destroyed his five wind barriers.

A rapidly spinning sphere, formed from the convergence of earth elements, lost its momentum, fell to the ground, and began to slowly dissipate as earth elements.

"I wanted to see what tricks you had up your sleeve, but I almost got caught off guard. Impressive."

Russell's gaze fell on an open space. His face was slightly pale, a side effect of the defensive spell being shattered and the spell model being shaken.

He will be unable to use the wind barrier again for a short period of time.

"As expected, you detected my presence before I even revealed my aura."

Anders' figure came into view.

Since Russell could detect him, then becoming invisible would just be a waste of mental energy.

"Even five level-zero intermediate defensive spells could not possibly withstand an earth elemental cannon!"

Anders' complexion was also not good, clearly a side effect of using the Earth Elemental Cannon.

"This is a simplified first-tier spell, a simplified first-tier sorcery that requires a long preparation time and a large amount of mental and magical energy to cast!"

Anders' face was full of disbelief.

His four Tier 0 superior spells were all designed to complement the Earth Elemental Cannon, ensuring that they could be combined to cast this simplified Tier 1 spell.

But now it has been defended by a level two wizard apprentice?

Are you kidding me!
