Mystery: Becoming a Creator Through the Doorway

Chapter 34 Audrey's Carelessness Leads to the Loss of Her Father

They have more than just a good relationship.

Earl Hall is the leader of the Kingdom's New Party and also the Church of the Night's spokesperson in secular and political spheres.

Not to mention Bishop Elektra, even Saint Anthony Stevenson, one of the thirteen archbishops of the Church of the Night and the head of the diocese of Backlund, received urgent telegrams from the Earl of Hall.

However, although Earl Hall had a vague understanding of the extraordinary world, he later believed that the Church of the Night would also be destroyed after the destruction of Rune, after Intis and Rune went to war.

It's quite abstract.

Count Hall knew that his feigned sincerity in order to leave safely had been completely exposed and that he had been seen through long ago.

He had a premonition that he was probably in grave danger, but all he could do was answer:

"...You're right."

An Ruowang nodded and said sincerely:

"I have always admired goddesses."

As he spoke, he did something that Earl Hall had never expected.

An Ruowang raised her right hand and tapped her chest four times clockwise, drawing a crimson moon:

"Praise beauties, goddess."

Seeing this, Earl Hall, unsure of what he was up to, almost instinctively raised his hand in a gesture of respect, responding:

"Praise beauties, goddess."

An Ruowang was telling the truth.

In any case, Amanisis won every time from the Second Age onwards, until she became part of the Old Ones.

That alone is enough to earn his respect.

However, to Earl Hall, the word "admiration" sounded rather strange.

Generally speaking, shouldn't we use "faith" when referring to deities?

But it can't be said that "respect" is wrong.

Count Hall suppressed the strange feeling in his heart and waited anxiously for the other party to continue.

An Ruowang didn't keep him waiting long before revealing his purpose:

"Moreover, Rune's laws offer preferential treatment to official extraordinary individuals in many aspects, such as taxation."

If possible, I would like to become an unofficial night watchman for the Church of the Night, contributing my share to the development and security of the Church of the Night and the Kingdom of Rune.

Whether they are Night Watchers, Punishers, or Mechanical Hearts, the salaries of the Extraordinary Ones of the three major churches are exempt from personal income tax.

This is also one aspect of the idea that divine right is greater than royal right.

Although the church in the Fifth Age was not allowed to interfere in politics, the royal family was still required to show respect to the true God.

Earl Hall felt his eyelids twitch.

Although he didn't know what the other person meant by saying that, since the other person had made the request, it probably meant that he had hope of surviving.

He asked carefully:

"What does 'unofficial night watchman' mean?"

An Ruowang replied:

"I hope to enjoy the same treatment and benefits as the official extraordinary individuals, but not to join the Night Watch squad, and to have the right to selectively accept missions from the church."

Earl Hall looked troubled:

"this……"

Would someone who has the power to choose whether or not to accept a church mission actually accept it?

I'll probably reject them all then.

Isn't that just receiving a salary without working?

If it were in his field, this wouldn't be difficult at all.

All it takes is to use connections to create a new, empty position in the government, a bank, or a company. With all the requirements combined, there's only one person, Aleister, who can meet those requirements.

In a sense, this is probably a three-part honorific title.

There's no need for all that trouble. Just pull some strings and get Aleister a nominal position so he doesn't have to go to work every day.

However, within the Church of the Night, the political power of the nobility is less effective.

The church has its own set of logic and rules, which he, as a secular representative, cannot interfere with at will.

Even if it meant death, he probably couldn't do it.

Why torture him like this?

"You've probably misunderstood, Count."

Looking at his desperate expression, An Ruowang shook her finger:

"The point is not the treatment and benefits of the official extraordinary individuals, but that as an extraordinary individual, I want to contribute my strength to the Goddess and the Church of the Night when they need me, but I don't want to lose my freedom because of it."

If my initial request is not feasible, then I will leave the tax issue to you, Earl; I am not insisting on it.

Are you really a devout follower of the goddess of the night?

Regardless of the other party's motives, Earl Hall felt the difficulty had suddenly decreased and agreed:

"That's not a problem."

"In that case, sign a contract with me, and you will survive, Count."

As she spoke, An Ruowang took something out and placed it on the table between the two of them.

It was a piece of paper that shimmered with gold, its surface radiating a faint, undeniable glow that instantly caught Earl Hall's eye.

An Ruowang explained:

"This is a magical item created by an Extraordinary being, a 'Contract.' Once the contract is signed and acknowledged by both parties, it is virtually impossible to break. Even if a high-sequence Extraordinary being tries to forcibly breach the contract, they will have to pay a considerable price."

It was bought by An Ruowang from Eisinger.

The ring on his hand allows a person to recognize and, with a certain probability, imitate an ability they have seen before.

Isengard had previously witnessed and analyzed the "Notary's" ability to use "notarization" and create contracts, and was therefore able to imitate and use it, which was the basis for his ability to hold secret gatherings.

Originally, An Ruowang intended to use a contract to sign a contract with Dorian Abraham, so he went to Isengard and bought some contracts to use.

Considering that such contracts would have many uses, he simply bought several more, and now they've come in handy.

Upon hearing the effects of the contract, Earl Hall, who had been sweating profusely, finally breathed a sigh of relief and agreed before the other party even wrote out the contract.

"Okay, I'll sign!"

He knew that the existence of this contract was not a restriction on him, but rather a guarantee that he could leave this place alive.

Even if it's a treaty that humiliates and strips the country of its sovereignty, even if it's a slave contract, he would still sign it.

The moment Aleister mentioned his good relationship with the bishop of the Church of the Night, he knew he was doomed.

This means that the other party has realized that he might report Aleister to the Church of the Night after leaving the house and use his connections to have the church hunt him down.

Even if he argued that he wouldn't do it, Aleister wouldn't believe him.

It's not a question of whether he can do it, but whether he is capable of doing it.

He did indeed intend to do that.

Therefore, rather than risk being captured or even killed by the Church's extraordinary beings, Aleister might as well kill him here first and use the remaining time to escape, thus increasing his chances of survival.

Fortunately, things took a turn for the better, and this contract was his lifeline.

After An Ruowang finished writing the contract and checked it to make sure there were no omissions, he asked Earl Hall:

"Besides what I just mentioned, these are just three requests I can make in exchange for your life. Isn't that already very merciful? You said you would do whatever you asked."

Earl Hall wiped his sweat and praised sincerely:

"Praise be to your kindness!"

In ancient times, a celestial being captured the child of chaos to make a wishing lamp; now, An Ruowang is imitating the story of his predecessors.

Today's play should be titled "Audrey's ingenious scheme leads Earl Hall to the guillotine by mistake."

Or perhaps it could be said that Audrey carelessly lost her father?
