Chapter 17: Disrupting the Event
翌日清晨,天光微亮.
Tang Zheng was woken up by the alarm clock on time. He changed into his sportswear, and quietly pushed open the bedroom door. The living room was quiet, and the morning light shone through the gaps in the curtains, casting soft beams of light on the floor.
In the living room, Ruan Hongzhuang was still wearing the same loungewear she wore the night before, her long hair loosely draped over her shoulders. She was leaning against the armrest of the sofa, holding a book in her hand, her profile appearing calm and focused in the morning light.
Hearing the noise, she looked up and met Tang Zheng's gaze.
"Good morning, Aunt Ruan." Tang Zheng walked over, his gaze falling on her left ankle resting on the sofa. "How does your foot feel? Does it still hurt?"
"Much better."
Tang Zheng sat down on the sofa in front of her. "Aunt Ruan, take off your socks. Let me see if you need to apply an ice pack again, and if possible, apply some safflower oil."
Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at him, said nothing, and gently put her left foot down from the sofa.
Tang Zheng's gaze followed, and he saw a pair of white cotton socks that snugly covered her slender ankles and arches.
She bent down slightly, stretched out her right hand, and gently hooked the top of her left sock with her fingertips, pulling it down with an indescribable languor and composure that belonged to a mature woman.
Soon, the entire foot was exposed to Tang Zheng's view.
Her skin was as white as jade, her figure perfectly proportioned, and it shone with a soft glow in the morning light.
Tang Zheng looked down at her ankle. "It's a little better, but it's still quite swollen. Aunt Ruan, try to walk as little as possible these next few days."
Ruan Hongzhuang looked at him, "You're quite knowledgeable."
"I used to twist my ankle occasionally when playing basketball, and I've become quite adept at treating it over time," Tang Zheng said, taking out a small first-aid kit from under the coffee table and a bottle of safflower oil.
"Would you like me to apply it for you, Aunt Ruan?"
"Aunt Ruan, should you apply it yourself or...?"
"I can do it myself," Ruan Hongzhuang said, extending her hand.
Tang Zheng placed the safflower oil on his hand and said, "Remember not to rub too hard when you apply it; you can massage it for a while longer."
"Hmm." Ruan Hongzhuang unscrewed the cap of the safflower oil, and a unique medicinal smell wafted out.
Tang Zheng got up and went to the bathroom. After filling a basin with water, he returned to the living room.
He placed the basin of water on the coffee table, glanced at Ruan Hongzhuang who was gently rubbing her ankles, and said, "Aunt Ruan, wash your hands with this water after you're done. I'm going for a run."
Ruan Hongzhuang looked up at him, her gaze sweeping over the basin of water on the coffee table, and nodded. "Okay."
Tang Zheng turned around and walked towards the door.
Suddenly, images of fair, jade-like feet flashed into my mind.
They are truly bringing disaster to the country and its people.
As you enter the park, the fresh morning air, carrying the fragrance of grass and trees, is invigorating.
After a quick warm-up, Tang Zheng began his morning run.
"Speeding at 70 miles per hour, feeling carefree..."
After his morning run, Tang Zheng was covered in sweat but felt very refreshed. On his way back, he passed a popular breakfast shop near his neighborhood, stopped, and went in to pack some breakfast items and three bowls of porridge.
Tang Zheng brought breakfast home. In the living room, Ruan Hongzhuang was still sitting on the sofa reading a book. Her feet, which had been rubbed with safflower oil, were now back in socks.
"I bought breakfast, Aunt Ruan, would you like to eat it now?"
Ruan Hongzhuang looked up at him and said, "Okay."
Tang Zheng first went to the kitchen and put some of the breakfast into a thermos to wait for his older sister to wake up and eat.
Back in the living room, Tang Zheng went to the coffee table, opened the bag, and placed the breakfast items on it.
"Aunt Ruan, you eat first, I'm going to take a shower." Tang Zheng placed a bowl of still steaming shrimp porridge in front of Ruan Hongzhuang.
"it is good."
"Eat slowly, the porridge is a little hot."
"Um."
Tang Zheng turned around and walked towards the restroom.
Ruan Hongzhuang picked up a small spoon, scooped up a spoonful of porridge, blew on it, and put it into her mouth.
The warm rice grains melt on the tip of the tongue, carrying just the right amount of salty and savory flavor.
This is a type of porridge that she has always liked.
When Tang Zheng came out of the bathroom, Ruan Hongzhuang had already finished breakfast and was sitting on the sofa reading a book.
Tang Zheng sat down on the sofa. "Have you finished eating, Aunt Ruan?"
"Um."
Tang Zheng glanced at the breakfast on the coffee table. She had eaten about half a tray of shumai, drunk most of the porridge, and eaten quite a bit of side dishes. Aunt Ruan had a pretty good appetite this morning.
Tang Zheng picked up his chopsticks, took a shumai and put it in his mouth, then scooped a spoonful from the porridge left by Aunt Ruan and put it in his mouth as well.
It tastes very good.
Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at Tang Zheng, then turned her gaze back to the book.
Just then, the bedroom door was pushed open, and Tang Rui walked out with her hair disheveled and her eyes still sleepy.
She glanced at the two people on the sofa, "They're cheating on me again."
After dinner, Tang Rui tidied herself up, grabbed her small bag, and prepared to go out. She had a birthday banquet to attend today. Actually, her parents should have gone, but they had gone out for a romantic getaway, so she was the only one who could go.
"Don't run around today, stay home and take good care of your Aunt Ruan."
"Okay, I promise to take good care of Aunt Ruan so she'll be healthy and plump," Tang Zheng replied, peeling an orange.
Tang Rui changed her shoes, pushed open the door, and went out.
Tang Zheng threw the orange peel into the trash can, then broke off a segment of orange flesh and put it in his mouth.
The next second, his expression began to change drastically.
Forcing himself to swallow the sour orange, Tang Zheng broke off half of the orange and handed it to Ruan Hongzhuang, who was reading a book next to him. "Aunt Ruan, try this. This orange is very sweet."
Ruan Hongzhuang, head bowed and engrossed in her book, reached out to take the orange, broke off a segment, and popped it into her mouth.
The next second, the corner of her eye twitched violently.
Tang Zheng couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Ruan Hongzhuang swallowed the orange and looked up at Tang Zheng.
Tang Zheng stopped smiling. "Well... sour oranges are high in vitamins, which are better for your health."
Ruan Hongzhuang didn't say anything. She put the oranges on the coffee table, put down her book, and stood up.
"Calm down, Aunt Ruan. Hitting someone is against the law. You're so young and beautiful; you can't go down the path of crime."
"I'm going to the restroom," Ruan Hongzhuang said casually, glancing at him.
"If I go over and help you up, you won't hit me, right?" Tang Zheng looked at her and asked warily.
"Won't."
Tang Zheng looked her over again. "Then swear it?"
Ruan Hongzhuang didn't speak, but took a step forward and staggered.
Tang Zheng sighed inwardly, stood up, and took her arm.
Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at him and slowly walked towards the restroom.
Tang Zheng looked at her profile. This plot wasn't quite what he expected.
Soon, the two arrived at the restroom door. Tang Zheng opened the door, helped her inside, then left the restroom, closed the door, and stood waiting for her at the entrance.
Ruan Hongzhuang took a tissue and threw it into the toilet.
After putting down the toilet seat, Ruan Hongzhuang held onto the shelf next to her and slowly sat down.
after awhile……
Tang Zheng.
"What's wrong, Aunt Ruan?" Tang Zheng's voice came from the doorway.
"Go further away."
"Oh," Tang Zheng replied, and walked a little further away.
Two minutes later, the bathroom door was pushed open, and Ruan Hongzhuang limped out. Tang Zheng quickly went over and helped her up.
The two returned to the sofa, and Ruan Hongzhuang continued reading her book.
"Give me a pen and a notebook."
"Okay." Tang Zheng glanced at her, then got up and walked towards the bedroom.
A moment later, he returned to the sofa and handed her the paper and pen.
She took it, opened the notebook, placed it on her lap, and held the pen tip over the paper without immediately putting pen to paper.
A moment later, she moved her wrist slightly, and the pen tip began to glide across the white paper. Simple and precise lines flowed from her pen, quickly forming a clear geometric figure. She wrote a few lines of formulas and symbols next to the figure.
Sunlight streamed through the glass window, dancing on her lowered profile and outlining her focused and serene features.
Tang Zheng watched quietly from the side without saying a word.
"Can you understand it?" Ruan Hongzhuang looked up at him and asked.
"I don't understand," Tang Zheng shook his head, answering very honestly.
Ruan Hongzhuang withdrew her gaze, ignoring Tang Zheng, and lightly drew an auxiliary line on the paper with the tip of her pen.
A strand of hair slipped down, obscuring two symbols. Ruan Hongzhuang raised her hand and tucked it behind her ear.
A moment later, another strand of hair playfully fell down, and Ruan Hongzhuang tucked it behind her ear again.
Tang Zheng gently pulled open the drawer under the coffee table, took out a leather case that Tang Rui usually used, and handed it to Ruan Hongzhuang.
Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at it, reached out and took it, placed the pen on the notebook, gathered her loose long hair with her left hand, pinched the rubber band with her right hand, and gently twisted her wrist to tie her hair into a neat ponytail.
Sunlight fell on her profile and neck, outlining distinct light and shadow. Her skin appeared even whiter and more translucent in the light, and you could even see the fine, soft downy hairs on her neck. The outline of her ears was fully revealed, delicate as shells, with rounded earlobes. She wore no jewelry, looking clean and beautiful.
She moved her neck slightly, seemingly adjusting to her tightly tied hair, then lowered her head again, picked up her pen, and began to do calculations.
Tang Zheng withdrew his gaze, picked up the book "From One to Infinity" that Aunt Ruan had recommended to him earlier from under the coffee table, and began to read it.
Time flowed quietly in focused stillness, with only the scratching of pens on paper and the occasional soft rustling of pages turning in the living room.
After an unknown amount of time, Ruan Hongzhuang stopped writing. She put down her pen and rubbed her stiff neck.
Just then, a peeled apple was handed to her.
"I promise, this time it definitely won't be sour."
Ruan Hongzhuang reached out and took the apple, then brought it to her mouth and took a bite.
Juicy and flavorful, with a sweet and sour taste.
She sat up straight and gently patted her slightly sore shoulders.
"Shall I give you a shoulder massage, Aunt Ruan?" He used to be forced to massage his older sister's shoulders all the time, so he was quite skilled in this area.
"Need not."
"I'll give you a five-minute trial, no charge," Tang Zheng said, putting the book on his lap onto the coffee table and getting up to stand behind Ruan Hongzhuang.
When the apple was brought to her lips, Ruan Hongzhuang took a small bite and did not refuse it.
"Aunt Ruan, lift your head up and lean back a little more."
Ruan Hongzhuang did as she was told, raising her head slightly and resting her back against the sofa back.
Tang Zheng placed his hands on her shoulders, and the touch made Ruan Hongzhuang's body tense up subconsciously.
"Aunt Ruan, relax, don't be so tense."
Ruan Hongzhuang swallowed the apple in her mouth and relaxed.
Tang Zheng applied some pressure with his palm and began to massage.
"How's the pressure, Aunt Ruan?"
"Mmm." Ruan Hongzhuang pursed her red lips, letting out a single word.
It seems quite comfortable.
Gradually, she closed her eyes and began to enjoy Tang Zheng's massage.
"Are you feeling any better, Aunt Ruan?"
"Mmm." Her body was very relaxed, feeling the pressure coming from her shoulder.
Time slowly passed...
"Let me massage your neck, Aunt Ruan?"
"Mmm." A somewhat languid voice escaped from Ruan Hongzhuang's lips.
Tang Zheng's fingers slowly moved up from Ruan Hongzhuang's shoulder and gently touched the skin on the back of her neck.
Her skin was extremely delicate, smooth as silk, and warm to the touch.
Ruan Hongzhuang's body trembled slightly, and she subconsciously opened her eyes, her eyes still slightly hazy as she recovered from her drowsy state.
The next second, the gentle pressure came, and a comfortable feeling came from her somewhat stiff neck.
She pursed her lips and closed her eyes again.
"Is the pressure okay, Aunt Ruan?"
"Um."
Tang Zheng continued massaging, and when he applied pressure, it felt as if he were pressing on a piece of warm, smooth skin.
Ruan Hongzhuang closed her eyes, her long eyelashes casting a faint shadow under her eyelids, trembling slightly.
At first, there was a slight, barely perceptible tension in her body, but under Tang Zheng's just-right pressure, that thin layer of tension melted away like the thin ice on a lake in spring, quietly melting in the warm sun.
She could feel the warmth of Tang Zheng's palm, which had a slightly rough texture.
Sunlight streamed through the window, warmly bathing her cheek and neck, making her delicate skin almost translucent, revealing the faint blue veins beneath. Her earlobes were also tinged with the sunlight, tinged with a soft pink.
Tang Zheng's thumb accidentally brushed against an exceptionally soft area below her ear, causing Ruan Hongzhuang's breath to catch almost imperceptibly for a moment, and her body to tense up abruptly.
Tang Zheng noticed the momentary pause, his hands hesitated for a moment, then he covered the back of her neck with his palm, gently massaging it with warmth.
Ruan Hongzhuang's tense body relaxed again. She looked ahead, her calm eyes still carrying a hint of something unusual that went unnoticed.
Tang Zheng's gaze swept over the spot he had just inadvertently touched. The delicate, rounded earlobe next to him had somehow been tinged with a blush, making it look extremely alluring.
Has he touched a nerve with Aunt Ruan? Should we try again?
Tang Zheng quickly dismissed the idea, after all, once was an accident, but doing it again would be intentional.
Let's talk about it next time.
Time slips away unnoticed...
"That's fine."
A pleasant, magnetic voice rang out, carrying a hint of languor and a calm gentleness.
Tang Zheng released his grip and shook his slightly sore wrist.
"Please rate this service."
"Eight points, I'd say," came Ruan Hongzhuang's calm voice.
"Only eight points?" Tang Zheng was somewhat dissatisfied with the score.
"One hundred points is the maximum score," Ruan Hongzhuang continued.
Tang Zheng: "..."
