Seriously, sir? You can even pursue a professor?

Chapter 24: Huddling Together for Warmth

In the early morning, warm golden sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, casting dappled patterns of light on the floor. The alarm clock on the bedside table rang precisely on time, its clear ringtone shattering the tranquility of the room.

Tang Zheng slowly opened his eyes from his sleep, a hint of drowsiness still lingering in them.

He steadied himself, propped himself up on the mattress, and stretched lazily. Suddenly, the scenes from last night's drunken night flooded his mind like a tidal wave, one after another, so clear it was unbelievable.

Tang Zheng was stunned for a moment, then raised his hand to rub his throbbing temples and sighed heavily.

Getting drunk isn't scary; what's scary is the memory after sobering up. It's better to just black out.

Fortunately, I have good manners when drunk and didn't do anything outrageous.

As for Aunt Ruan's beautiful feet...

This proves that he has normal aesthetic sense and the ability to appreciate beautiful things.

And his treasured books...

This proves that he is a person who loves reading and learning.

Tang Zheng tried to comfort himself, got out of bed, changed into a refreshing tracksuit, walked to the bedroom door, and gently pushed it open a crack to peek inside.

The bedroom was empty.

He pushed open the door and went out. After a quick wash, he went to the doorway, took down his sneakers from the shoe cabinet, and changed into them.

Just then, the bedroom door not far away was gently pushed open, and Ruan Hongzhuang, dressed in light gray sportswear, walked out, her eyes still showing a hint of laziness from just waking up.

"Going for a run?" She gently closed the door, glancing at Tang Zheng who was changing his shoes at the door, and greeted him.

Tang Zheng paused in tying his shoelaces, looked up at her, and said, "Good morning, Aunt Ruan."

"Okay, wait a minute," she said, turning and walking towards the restroom.

Tang Zheng watched her departing figure. Was Aunt Ruan planning to settle scores with him later? He seemed to have pulled Aunt Ruan's ears yesterday, and both of them at once...

He was really impressive.

Tang Zheng guessed, and a thought of running away with the bucket welled up in his mind. After all, a handsome man like him shouldn't stand under a dangerous wall.

Well, even if the monk can run away, the temple can't; what's coming will come sooner or later.

Tang Zheng watched her walk into the restroom. "What man is afraid of Aunt Ruan?" he thought.

A few minutes later, Ruan Hongzhuang, after a quick wash, came out of the bathroom. She took off the hair tie from her wrist, casually tied her loose long hair into a neat ponytail, and went to the entrance hall.

Tang Zheng looked at her and said, "Bring it on!"

"Excuse me," Ruan Hongzhuang said calmly, glancing at him.

"Oh," Tang Zheng replied, taking a step to the side.

Ruan Hongzhuang bent down, took a pair of white running shoes from the shoe rack, placed them on the ground, and changed into them.

A foot clad in white cotton socks was pulled out of the cute bunny slippers and placed into white running shoes.

Suddenly, she remembered something and looked up at Tang Zheng beside her.

Tang Zheng stood upright to the side, looking at the scenery outside the window, as if afraid of seeing something he shouldn't have.

A faint smile flickered across Ruan Hongzhuang's eyes as she looked away, slowly putting on the other shoe and tying the laces.

"Let's go," she said, straightening up.

"Oh," Tang Zheng replied, and followed her out the door.

It seems Aunt Ruan isn't going to pursue the matter from last night. Well, Aunt Ruan is such a senior professor, how could she stoop to the level of a junior like him?

This time, he was judging a beautiful woman by his own petty standards.

The two entered the elevator, and Tang Zheng stood obediently to the side without saying a word.

Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at him sideways and suddenly asked, "Do you remember what happened last night?"

Tang Zheng's expression froze. "Uh... what's wrong, Aunt Ruan?"

Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at him and said calmly, "It's nothing. I was just reminding you in case you had a blackout."

Tang Zheng: "..."

That was too hasty. How could Aunt Ruan not hold a grudge?

This seemingly casual remark caused him immense real harm.

He glanced at Ruan Hongzhuang beside him, cleared his throat, and began to sing, "Child, child, why are you so wicked..."

"Do you need me to help you recall what happened last night?"

The singing stopped abruptly.

……

In the early morning park, the air is filled with the dampness of lingering dew, mixed with the fresh fragrance of grass and trees. Taking a deep breath, even your lungs feel refreshed.

Tang Zheng ran alongside Ruan Hongzhuang with light steps. After days of consistent training, he was no longer the Tang Zheng who would be out of breath after running just two laps.

He's gotten stronger!

The two ran lap after lap...

The originally thin clouds in the sky had somehow thickened, hanging over us in a gray haze, diminishing the brightness of the morning.

Just as they rounded the artificial lake and stepped onto the relatively secluded tree-lined path once more, the first drop of rain struck Tang Zheng's forehead without warning, icy cold and carrying a faint earthy smell.

Then, a second drop, a third drop... the raindrops suddenly became denser, pattering against the leaves and the stone path, and mercilessly pelting the two of them.

The two hurriedly ran towards the pavilion ahead.

The rain came down suddenly and violently, instantly forming a curtain of rain that blurred the view, and the rain stung the face.

Although the two were only a few dozen meters away from the pavilion, it felt like a long time in the pouring rain. By the time they rushed into the pavilion, their clothes were almost completely soaked, even with the trees providing some shelter.

A cool breeze swept through the pavilion...

"Hiss... It's so refreshing, it makes my heart soar." Tang Zheng exclaimed, turning to look at Ruan Hongzhuang beside him.

Her ponytail was disheveled by the rain, clinging wetly to her neck and cheeks. Her sportswear clung tightly to her body, outlining her slender yet curvaceous figure. Water droplets rolled down her long eyelashes and dripped from her chin.

She took out a pack of tissues from her pocket, pulled out two, and handed them to Tang Zheng.

"You can use it, Aunt Ruan, I don't need it." He said, wiping the rain off his face, and walked to the bench next to him to sit down.

Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at him, wiped the rain off her body with a tissue, and sat down on the bench.

Both of them were a little tired after their run.

The rain grew heavier, pattering against the pavilion roof and forming a dense curtain of water around them, isolating them from the outside world.

Looking at the heavy rain outside, Tang Zheng asked, "Aunt Ruan, what if this rain lasts all day?"

"It will drown you," Ruan Hongzhuang said calmly, glancing at him.

Tang Zheng's eye twitched slightly. "And what about you?"

"I can swim."

Tang Zheng: "..."

"You're pretty good."

A cool breeze blew by, and Ruan Hongzhuang tightened her arms around herself.

Tang Zheng looked at her and asked with concern, "Aunt Ruan, are you cold?"

"It's not cold."

Tang Zheng glanced at her slightly pale lips and mentally muttered, "Stubborn as a mule."

I just finished running, and my clothes are now mostly soaked by the cold rain, and a gust of wind is blowing...

Let alone Aunt Ruan, even this young man was finding it hard to keep up.

"I'm a little cold, how about we huddle together for warmth, Aunt Ruan?" Tang Zheng said, lifting his bottom and moving closer to her.

Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at him and said, "Stay away from me."

"Oh," Tang Zheng replied indifferently, his buttocks remaining rooted to the spot.

Ruan Hongzhuang tightened her arms around him and ignored him.

After a while, a cool breeze blew by, and Ruan Hongzhuang's body began to tremble slightly.

"Achoo!" She suddenly looked down and sneezed.

"I can't take it anymore, Aunt Ruan, I'm so cold."

As soon as she finished speaking, a pair of arms suddenly wrapped around Ruan Hongzhuang's waist, pulling her into a hug.

Ruan Hongzhuang's body trembled slightly. "Let go."

"Aunt Ruan, you're the kindest one. I haven't even gotten married yet, I can't freeze to death here." Tang Zheng tightened his arms around her waist, holding her close in his embrace.

The warmth seeped through the damp fabric, dispelling the chill from her body.

Ruan Hongzhuang remained silent and did not speak again.

Tang Zheng held her, resting his chin gently on her shoulder, his gaze occasionally glancing at her beautiful profile.

Time passed slowly, and the rain continued to fall.

Aunt Ruan has a very supple body and a slender waist.

Summer downpours come and go quickly; a few minutes later, the rain subsided and then gradually stopped.

Tang Zheng reluctantly released Ruan Hongzhuang from his arms, stood up, and said, "Let's go, Aunt Ruan."

"Hmm." Ruan Hongzhuang responded and stood up. A cool breeze blew by, and Ruan Hongzhuang sneezed again.

"Achoo!"

Tang Zheng glanced at her, then took off his short-sleeved shirt and handed it to her. "Put this on, Aunt Ruan, don't catch a cold."

Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at him, "No need."

"Don't be so stubborn, or you'll start sneezing soon." Tang Zheng said, stuffing the clothes into his hands and running out of the pavilion.

"Oh ho."

A cool breeze carrying the scent of rain hit him, and Tang Zheng let out a strange cry.

It's so damn cold.

"I'm going home now, Aunt Ruan." He turned around and waved to Ruan Hongzhuang behind him.

Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at his running figure, looked down at the short-sleeved shirt in her hand, opened the shirt, and put it on.

The clothes were large, and the residual body heat made them slightly warm.

"Achoo!"

Ruan Hongzhuang paused for a moment, glanced at Tang Zheng who had already run far away, picked up the hem of her loose short-sleeved shirt, and wiped her nose.

Tang Zheng sped home, quickly wiped himself down, changed into clean clothes, and slipped into the kitchen.

When Ruan Hongzhuang arrived home, Tang Zheng was just coming out of the kitchen carrying a large bowl of freshly cooked ginger soup.

"Aunt Ruan, go take a shower first, then come out and drink this ginger soup," Tang Zheng said to Ruan Hongzhuang, who was changing her shoes at the door.

"Hmm." Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at the ginger soup in his hand, responded, went back to the bedroom to get a change of clothes, and went to the bathroom.

The sound of pattering water could be heard.

Tang Zheng sat on the sofa, skillfully picked up the remote control, and turned on the TV.

After a while, the sound of water running in the bathroom stopped.

The door was pushed open, and Ruan Hongzhuang came out, carrying a steamy warmth. She had changed into a set of light-colored cotton loungewear, and her hair was wrapped in a dry towel, revealing her smooth forehead and slender neck.

She wasn't wearing socks; her smooth, white feet were in cute bunny slippers, and her red toenails were as alluring as ever.

Hearing the voice, Tang Zheng looked up at her and waved, "Come and drink the ginger soup, Aunt Ruan."

Ruan Hongzhuang sat down on the sofa, glanced at the still steaming ginger soup on the coffee table, and said to him:

"You drink it, I'm not cold anymore."

"I've already had my drink; this bowl was specially made for you."

"Have you taken a shower?" Ruan Hongzhuang asked, changing the subject.

"No, what's wrong?"

"Go take a shower first, I'll drink the ginger soup later."

Tang Zheng looked at her, then suddenly remembered something. "It's been sitting for a while now, it's perfect to drink now, it'll get cold soon."

Aunt Ruan never seems to eat ginger.

"Okay, you go take a shower first," Ruan Hongzhuang said, but she didn't make a move.

"No, I have to watch you drink it. What if you secretly pour the ginger soup away after I leave?"

Ruan Hongzhuang paused for a moment, then said, "I'm not cold anymore, I don't need ginger soup."

"No, you were sneezing earlier. You should drink some ginger soup to warm yourself up after getting caught in the rain, or you'll easily catch a cold."

As Tang Zheng spoke, he got up and sat down next to Ruan Hongzhuang, picked up a spoon, scooped a spoonful of ginger soup and brought it to her lips, "Come on, open your mouth, Aunt Ruan."

Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at the ginger soup at her lips; the spicy taste made her subconsciously frown.

"I can do it myself," Ruan Hongzhuang said, taking the spoon from her hand. She looked at the ginger soup in the spoon, frowned, and put it into her mouth.

The spicy ginger flavor spread in her mouth, and Ruan Hongzhuang frowned even more deeply.

Tang Zheng sat beside him watching, and a feeling of great satisfaction rose in his heart: "You used to crush those pills for me when I was a kid."

"Drink slowly, Aunt Ruan. There's still some in the pot. If you're not full, I'll get you another bowl," Tang Zheng said, placing the soup bowl in front of her.

Ruan Hongzhuang scooped up another spoonful of ginger soup and put it in her mouth. She glanced at his cheeky face, as if she had made a mental note of it.

Soon, half of the ginger soup in the bowl was gone.

Ruan Hongzhuang put the spoon in the bowl, "I'm not drinking anymore."

"There's still so much left, Aunt Ruan..."

"I'm not drinking anymore." Ruan Hongzhuang looked at him, her tone calm but containing a hidden murderous intent.

"Alright," Tang Zheng said, picking up the spoon, bringing the bowl to his lips, and drinking it all in one gulp.

"Isn't it amazing?" He waved the empty bowl in front of Ruan Hongzhuang, showing off.

Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at him and said, "Get lost."

"Fine, I'll get out!" Tang Zheng said defiantly, picking up the empty bowl and walking towards the kitchen.

Just then, the bedroom door was pushed open, and Tang Rui walked out sleepily, went to the sofa, and plopped down.

"Good morning, Hongzhuang," she said, sniffing the air, a hint of disdain in her eyes. "Why do you smell so strongly of ginger?"

"I just had a bowl of ginger soup," Ruan Hongzhuang replied.

"Ginger soup? Hongzhuang, don't you hate ginger the most?"

"You were forced into it by your brother."

Professor Ruan's tone seemed to carry a hint of resentment.
