Seriously, sir? You can even pursue a professor?
Chapter 31: Effortless Control
The noise in the classroom gradually subsided, and the students, clutching their newly received military training uniforms, walked out in twos and threes.
Tang Rui stood on the podium organizing folders, her gaze sweeping over the crowd and landing directly on Tang Zheng, who was about to get up with Zhou Ze and the others.
"Tang Zheng, can you stay here for a moment?"
A clear voice cut through the noisy classroom, instantly drawing everyone's attention. Zhou Ze nudged Tang Zheng's arm, winking and teasing in a low voice, "Your older sister's checking up on you, huh? We'll wait for you outside."
"You guys go back first. Please take the military training uniform back with me. I have something to do later." Tang Zheng said, handing over the military training uniform he had just received.
Zhou Ze took the clothes and lowered his voice, "Enjoy the special treatment, brother."
"roll."
Zhou Ze chuckled and ran off.
The classroom quieted down, with only the faint hum of the fluorescent lights remaining. Tang Zheng slowly walked to the podium.
Tang Rui had already packed her things and leaned against the podium. The capable and dignified demeanor of a counselor had largely faded from her face, replaced by the casualness of an older sister. She looked Tang Zheng up and down, a mischievous smile curving her lips.
"How about it?" She raised an eyebrow. "Surprised? Unexpected?"
Tang Zheng looked at her and sighed, "Sigh, even in college, I still couldn't escape your clutches."
Tang Rui smiled and reached out to pinch Tang Zheng's cheek. "How's it going since the start of the semester?"
"Everything's fine, except I'm not too satisfied with the counselor." Tang Zheng felt his cheek being pinched, glanced at her, and said.
"I'll give you one more chance to rephrase your words. Say it again." Tang Rui pinched his cheek, a dangerous glint in her eyes.
"I am very satisfied with my new school, especially my counselor. She is young, beautiful, gentle, speaks well, has a good temper, and is very patient."
Tang Zheng instantly transformed into Tang Junjie, very pragmatically saying, "I just feel a pang of conscience."
"Mm." Tang Rui nodded in satisfaction, let go of his hand, and reached out to straighten his slightly wrinkled collar. "Get along well with your classmates, and come to me if you have any problems."
"Okay, sis." Tang Zheng nodded, glancing at her hand as she straightened his collar, and said.
Tang Rui withdrew her hand, looked at him, and smiled. "Have you met any girls you like? I can help you set them up!"
"Sis, you should focus on being a good counselor. I'm going back now," Tang Zheng said, and then disappeared.
When Tang Zheng reached the door, he stopped, turned around, looked at Tang Rui, and waved.
"Love you, sis."
"You brat." Tang Rui watched his figure disappear through the doorway and cursed with a smile.
Tang Zheng walked out of the teaching building, and the night breeze rushed towards him, carrying the unique freshness of early autumn.
The streetlights on campus were all lit up, casting an orange glow on the tree-lined paths and casting long, fragmented shadows of the sycamore leaves. Laughter drifted from afar; it was a group of freshmen carrying their military training uniforms, walking and joking, their youthful energy palpable.
He checked his phone; there was still a long time before the dormitory closed.
He put away his phone and walked towards the teachers' apartments.
"A cool breeze carries tidings, the autumn moon shines endlessly, and my longing for my beloved makes each day feel like a year. Although I am so handsome and dashing, I still have a broad mind and strong arms..."
The night wind blew, and the leaves rustled.
Tang Zheng walked down to the teachers' apartment building and looked up at a window upstairs. The warm yellow light shone through the curtains, making it look somewhat warm in the night.
Knock knock knock.
Soft footsteps came from inside the door, and then the door opened.
Ruan Hongzhuang stood at the door, dressed in simple home clothes. She wore a milky white cotton top with a slightly loose neckline that revealed a small section of her fair collarbone. She wore light gray loose trousers with the cuffs rolled up slightly, revealing her slender ankles. She was not wearing socks, and her fair feet were in cute bear slippers.
A pair of clear and peaceful eyes looked at Tang Zheng.
"I'm here to register at school today. Come and say hello to Aunt Ruan," Tang Zheng said, looking at Ruan Hongzhuang.
"Mm." Ruan Hongzhuang nodded, greeted him, and pulled the doorknob, preparing to close the door.
"Wait a minute, can I use the restroom?" Tang Zheng said, squeezing through the door and closing it behind him, instantly bringing the two of them very close.
A faint, delicate fragrance wafted into my nostrils.
Ruan Hongzhuang raised her head and met his gaze. His eyes were dark and calm, staring intently at her.
She turned around and walked slowly toward the dining table, where a laptop and a stack of documents were placed.
Tang Zheng watched her leave, then looked at the shoe rack next to him, preparing to grab a pair of slippers to change into.
Suddenly, a pair of brand-new men's slippers came into his view.
"Are these slippers for me, Aunt Ruan?" he asked, looking at her slender back.
Ruan Hongzhuang did not answer. She walked to the dining table, sat back down in her chair, and picked up the documents on the table to read.
Tang Zheng picked up the men's slippers, looked at them, put them on the ground, put them on happily, and then turned and walked towards the bathroom.
Soon, the sound of the bathroom door closing came from inside.
While looking through the documents, Ruan Hongzhuang suddenly remembered something and turned to look towards the restroom.
She slowly withdrew her gaze and returned it to the documents.
Meanwhile, in the restroom, Tang Zheng's gaze lingered on the clothesline in front of him.
Two small, black garments hung on the clothesline, their edges adorned with delicate lace that gleamed alluringly under the light.
Tang Zheng almost subconsciously pictured Aunt Ruan wearing...
Tang Zheng's heart skipped a beat, and he turned his gaze away from the alluring clothes and walked toward the toilet.
A few minutes later, the bathroom door was pushed open, and Tang Zheng came out.
Looking towards the living room, Ruan Hongzhuang was sitting at the dining table, her fair and slender fingers gently tapping the keyboard, producing a crisp sound.
Tang Zheng closed the bathroom door and walked over. "Aunt Ruan, have you had dinner?"
"I'm going to the cafeteria in a bit," Ruan Hongzhuang replied, looking at her computer screen.
"There's not much left in the cafeteria at this time. I'll make you something. I've learned a few new dishes these past few days. Aunt Ruan, please try them and see how they taste."
As Tang Zheng spoke, without waiting for her reply, he walked straight towards the kitchen.
Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at his departing figure, then her gaze returned to the computer screen.
The hands of the wall clock turned gently.
In the living room, Ruan Hongzhuang's typing pace seemed to slow down. Occasionally, she would pause, her gaze drifting unintentionally towards the kitchen, listening to the sounds coming from inside.
About half an hour later, the kitchen door was pushed open, and Tang Zheng came out carrying a small white porcelain bowl. In the bowl were several pieces of pork ribs stewed to a bright red color and with a rich broth. He walked straight to the dining table and stopped next to Ruan Hongzhuang.
"The beef still needs to stew for a while. Let's have some ribs to fill our stomachs first," Tang Zheng said, picking up a piece of rib with his chopsticks, blowing on it, and then offering it to Ruan Hongzhuang's lips.
Ruan Hongzhuang paused in her typing, her gaze shifting from the computer screen to the ribs right in front of her. She opened her mouth and gently bit into one of the ribs.
"How does it taste?" Tang Zheng asked, looking at her slightly puffed-out cheeks.
Ruan Hongzhuang continued typing on the keyboard, replying calmly, "Pretty good."
Ruan Hongzhuang chewed slowly, savoring the flavor of the ribs. When only a small, smooth bone remained, she turned her head slightly and spat it into the trash can next to the table.
Tang Zheng picked up another piece of pork rib, blew on it, and brought it to her lips.
"I can do it myself," she said, glancing at Tang Zheng.
"There are only two left, you go ahead with your work."
Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at the ribs near her mouth, opened her mouth, bit into the ribs, and then looked back at the computer screen.
The light shone down from above, enveloping her in a warm yellow halo. She lowered her head, her eyelashes drooping slightly, blinking occasionally, her cheeks puffing out slightly from eating.
Tang Zheng watched her quietly, feeling a sense of satisfaction at having successfully fed her.
Soon, all the pork ribs in the bowl were successfully fed to the baby.
"I'll go check on how the beef stew is going. It should be ready in a little while," Tang Zheng said, turning and heading back to the kitchen.
Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at his departing figure, gently spat the bone in her mouth into the trash can, and then turned her gaze back to the computer screen, her typing speed increasing.
About fifteen minutes later, the kitchen door was pushed open.
Tang Zheng came out carrying a plate of sweet and sour pork ribs and a bowl of braised beef.
"Dinner's ready!"
He placed the bowl on the table. "Eat first, Aunt Ruan. We'll get back to work later," he said, before turning and going back into the kitchen.
Ruan Hongzhuang stopped what she was doing, glanced at the fragrant ribs and tempting braised beef on the table, and got up to go to the bathroom.
As she entered the bathroom, her gaze fell upon the black underwear on the clothes rack. She paused for a moment, then went to the sink, turned on the tap, and began to wash her hands.
She dried her hands and looked up at herself in the mirror...
How can someone be so good-looking?
She raised her hand to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear, then turned and left the restroom.
As for the underwear on the clothesline, since we've already seen it, taking it down now would just feel like burying our heads in the sand.
"Come and eat, Aunt Ruan," Tang Zheng said, looking at Ruan Hongzhuang who had come out of the restroom.
"Mm." Ruan Hongzhuang responded and sat down at the dining table, her eyes fixed on the food on the table.
Sweet and sour pork ribs, braised beef, stir-fried bok choy, seaweed and egg drop soup, a bowl of rice, and a pair of neatly arranged chopsticks.
She looked up at Tang Zheng sitting opposite her. "Aren't you going to eat?"
"I just finished eating, you can have some, Aunt Ruan," Tang Zheng replied, looking at her.
Ruan Hongzhuang didn't say anything more. She picked up her chopsticks and took a piece of braised beef. The beef was stewed until tender and flavorful, with a rich soy sauce aroma and a perfect balance of saltiness. It tasted very good.
"How was school today?" she asked casually, swallowing the beef in her mouth.
"Aunt Ruan, are you worried about me?" Tang Zheng looked at her, appearing flattered. "I'm so touched I could cry!"
Ruan Hongzhuang paused for a moment, feeling an urge to throw her chopsticks at him.
"Reporting to Professor Ruan, I arrived at the school to register at 1 p.m. today. I met three roommates. We cleaned the dormitory together, had dinner together in the cafeteria, and then attended a class meeting. After the class meeting, I came directly to your place. Throughout the whole process, apart from my sister, I didn't see any other girls or talk to any of them."
Tang Zheng looked at Ruan Hongzhuang and gave a serious report.
Ruan Hongzhuang swallowed the food in her mouth, looked at him, and said, "Go sit on the sofa."
Why?
"You talk too much," Ruan Hongzhuang said, picking up a piece of bright green bok choy and putting it in her mouth.
"Aunt Ruan, have you read a science report that says you only really enjoy talking when you're with someone you like?"
"Go sit on the sofa," Ruan Hongzhuang said calmly again.
"Then I'll be quiet for a while," Tang Zheng said, raising his hand to his mouth and making a zipping motion.
After a long day, he finally had a chance to spend time with someone he liked, and he just sat on the sofa for no reason.
Ruan Hongzhuang ignored him and focused on eating.
To be honest, this dish was really delicious and suited her taste perfectly.
The only sounds in the living room were the soft sounds of chewing and the light clinking of bowls and chopsticks. Tang Zheng sat opposite her, his gaze fixed on her.
The warm yellow light outlined her lowered profile, her delicate nose, her moist lips, and that small section of her fair collarbone. The milky white cotton top she wore made the skin of her neck look like the finest mutton fat jade.
Ruan Hongzhuang ate slowly and cleanly. She finished the rice in her bowl and ate quite a bit of the vegetables. She put down her chopsticks and picked up a tissue to gently wipe the corners of her mouth.
"Aunt Ruan, are you full?"
"Um."
Tang Zheng got up and started clearing the dishes. He had used a large bowl to serve the rice, thinking that Aunt Ruan should eat as much as possible, but he didn't expect that Aunt Ruan would finish it all.
It seems the child was really hungry before, and of course, the delicious food was also a very important reason.
Don't let Aunt Ruan's calm demeanor and seemingly undemanding tastes fool you; she's actually quite picky. She doesn't like certain foods, and the fact that she drank so much of the ginger soup she didn't like was already a big favor.
Ruan Hongzhuang stood up and started tidying up the table.
"Aunt Ruan, you go ahead with your work, I can do it myself."
Ruan Hongzhuang didn't say anything, and simply carried the things towards the kitchen.
After clearing the table, Ruan Hongzhuang picked up the apron from the wall. "Go and rest, I'll wash the dishes."
"That won't do." Tang Zheng said, looking at her hands. "Aunt Ruan, you are so beautiful and have such delicate hands. How can you let them touch dish soap? It's such a waste. I'll feel bad for you."
Ruan Hongzhuang paused, feeling as if tiny ants were crawling all over her body again.
"Help me put on my apron, Aunt Ruan," Tang Zheng said, leaning his head closer.
Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at him, tossed the apron to him, and strode out of the kitchen in her bear slippers.
Tang Zheng took the apron, watched her leave, and slowly put it on.
A young professor, handling it with ease.
