Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins
Chapter 123 Philip is really useful
"Chief, they're all crammed into the middle of the portal!" the lame man shouted, covering his mouth and nose.
"Okay," Charles nodded, now he had two cloths tied around his face to try to reduce the smell of the foul-smelling spores, while Sansio on his shoulder had long since flown away.
"Portal activated."
Upon hearing the leader's command, the one-eyed creature hiding in the corner immediately beckoned the goblin next to it to push the controller together.
Soon, the lame man excitedly reported to the chief, "It's working!"
"Have they all been infected?" Charles asked his subordinates, a hint of anxiety in his voice.
"Uh-huh."
"Great, let's go check it out right away." Charles immediately stepped out from behind the stone pillar and led his men straight to the rustling forest.
According to his previous plan, when the grenade fruit had no effect, he would have Cao Cao throw the stinking spore ball. This thing was not a magical attack, and physical defense had no effect on it. The smell after being hit by it would directly cause the opponent to collapse. And these arrogant Earl's guards had never seen this kind of combat method before.
When they could no longer endure it and retreated into the passage, Broken Tooth, who was lying in ambush in the shadows, continuously threw out blazing glue to block their escape route. At this point, if it were an ordinary adventurer, they would definitely try to rush out of the burning range of the blazing glue to gain a chance of survival. However, these well-trained guards would more likely choose to follow orders. But there was also the noble Philip in their team, so the commander would very likely choose to form a defensive formation first and then try to break out of the blazing glue.
At this time, when they formed a defensive formation, they would basically stick together and keep their weapons facing outwards. In his memory, he had seen Uncle Musa train those guards, and he had also seen what a defensive formation looked like.
Finally, as he wished, all twenty guards and Philip were teleported away.
"Where did you fix the other portal?" Agatha quickly followed behind Charles. She was very curious about Charles's thoughts. These guys had to be killed. If even one of them escaped, it would definitely incur the wrath of the Earl's mansion.
"Come with me." Xia Erxing walked ahead eagerly.
…………
Philip stared at the blue object in the center of the glowing mushrooms above his head. He was surprised that he was still in the mood to study the ceiling of this ruin. However, the annoying stench was unbearable, and he had to think of something else to distract himself.
The blue object looked like a long, rectangular plate. It had several mushroom-like protrusions and two small white circles on it. These circles even blinked a few times, just like eyes.
"Lieutenant-Captain, what is that?" Philip shouted.
However, no one paid him any attention at the moment. The guards were on high alert, and two of them even held up shields to prevent anything from rushing out from behind the burning molten glue.
Philip was a little annoyed. He knew everyone thought he had seen rats or bugs or something, but he swore that what was on the ceiling was definitely not a rat.
Just as he was about to shout, everything went black before his eyes, followed by a return of light, but the floor beneath his feet disappeared, and he realized he was falling rapidly.
"These are the trees that are as tall as the castle towers." A thought flashed through Philip's mind. Then he saw Yunsia flapping her wings frantically next to him. The bird's frame was also falling, but because of the little goblin's flying ability, the downward trend was not so fast.
"Help me!" Philip screamed, but it was no use. Falling from a height of over thirty meters to the ground would take no more than three seconds.
With a "bang," he fell to the ground, blood splattering everywhere, his limbs twisted, and a trace of resentment still on his face, but unfortunately he was already dead.
Not long after, a group of goblins came running over.
"You actually tied the other portal to the tree canopy?" Agatha looked up at the tall, craggy tree canopy.
The other part of the stone rings was installed by Charles on a wooden mold and then fixed between several tall, rustling trees with ropes. The guards from the Earl's mansion were teleported over and then fell to the ground from the height.
“Yes,” Charles said, taking out his short blade and starting to search among the corpses on the ground. “Mary told me that the people who came with Philip were guards. These guys are all warriors, but they can’t fly. If I want to end this battle, I can only capture them all or kill them all. But killing Philip is too difficult. Not only will the guards not agree, but he also has soul tracking magic on him.”
"So you devised this method?" Agatha glanced at the corpses scattered on the ground, and her gaze towards Ciel changed.
"Yes, that's a great idea. No one killed Philip with their own hands; he fell to his death. As far as I know, deaths from falls where someone didn't push him off a height won't be followed by a spirit." Charles shrugged, spreading his hands.
"You..." Agatha was speechless.
"It was the ground that killed him. If his father wants to find the killer, he can only go to the Church of Earth and Life."
"There's another way," Agatha bit her lip, "summon the dead and ask them."
"That is a problem," Charles said, staring down at Philip's corpse, pondering what to do. "Any requirements for this spell?"
"As far as I know, this magic requires the remains of the dead." Agatha walked to Charles's side. "He has definitely been subjected to a corpse-tracking spell as well. If you don't want his father to find you, you'd better destroy his remains immediately."
"Feed him to the slimes?" Charles chuckled. "No, Philip still has a great use for me. I'm waiting for his father to come in person."
"Ciel," Agatha called out, trying to remind him.
"Don't worry, by the time that old man Valentine sorts out this, he'll be in a complete mess."
A rustling sound came from the bushes, interrupting their conversation. Charles immediately took out his short blade and cautiously approached.
In the grass, a metal bird stand was being slowly pulled along the ground. He looked along the thin iron chain of the bird stand and saw a little goblin trying to burrow into the bushes to hide.
Ciel grabbed the bird stand, and the little goblin was also lifted up. She looked timidly at the goblin in front of her, and even wanted to flap her wings and run away.
"A little imp." Charles grinned, but his smile clearly frightened the imp, who tried even harder to get away from him.
"Sister?" A cry of surprise rang out, and Shan Xiao immediately pounced over, tightly embracing Yun Xiya, who was bound by the bird frame.
"Hmm? Is she the older sister?" Ciel asked, placing the bird stand on the ground.
Sansio was speechless at this point, and could only nod frantically while tears streamed down his face.
"You all stand back a bit." Charles waved his hand to make the little goblins move away, then he swung his sword down sharply, severing the thin iron chain.
Yunxia stared at the remaining half of the iron chain on her foot, then froze on the spot. She began to tremble, and suddenly drew the thin wooden sword from her brother's waist, flapped her wings, and pounced on Philip's corpse.
She stabbed and slashed with her sword, and finally even lunged at Philip's face, punching and biting him, her heart-wrenching cries echoing through the woods.
Charles blocked Sansio with his hand and calmly shook his head at him. "Let her vent."
…………
"So you were captured by three adventurers?" Sharl placed a glass of honey water in front of Yunxia.
"Yes." Yunxia had recovered from her grief. She had just met with her parents and friends, and they all cried together. After that, the chief of the fairies led all the fairies to Xia Er to thank him for saving his daughter and fulfilling his promise. Xia Er simply comforted them calmly.
"I'll find some tools to remove the chains from your feet later." Xia Er pointed to the thin iron chains on Yunxia's feet, which were clearly quite a nuisance.
"Thank you, Goblin Chief." Yunsia bowed deeply.
"It's nothing, helping you is helping me." Charles laughed heartily. He truly hadn't expected things to develop this way, but it was for the best. The little fairies would be even more resolute in their decision towards him. "Do you remember what the adventurer who captured you looked like?"
"I remember, I'll never forget what they looked like." Yunxia gritted her teeth, her eyes welling up with tears again. "All three of them were human, a tall guy who always loved to eat snacks, and a crazy fat guy."
"Oh." Charles nodded.
"There's another leader, they all call him Coulson. I will find them and kill them," Yunxia said bitterly.
"Well," Charles scratched his cheek, "you probably won't be able to kill them."
He took out a small metal seal from the side and placed it in front of Yunxia. "I killed them all. This is their seal."
Yunxia looked at the goblins sitting in the chair and took a step back in shock. "Are they dead?"
"Hmm." Charles pushed the stamp over. He now understood why these three people were able to save so much money. He guessed that they made a lot of money selling Yunxia.
"I flew out to play and met them. The leader, Coulson, said he was going to kill goblins. I shouldn't have agreed to help them." Yunxia covered her face with her hands, her shoulders trembling slightly.
"It's all in the past," Charles sighed and softly advised. He looked around, trying to find the tools to remove the chains from the other person's feet.
Soon after, Yunxia calmed down. She wiped away her tears, looked up at Xia Er, and said, "Now I know what true goodness and true evil are."
Then she glanced at the chains on her feet. "These chains are enchanted and will restrict my natural magic. I need to remove them to help you better."
"Don't worry, it's easy to handle." Charles held up a pair of pliers.
