Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins
Chapter 177 Reflections in the Water
In a forest clearing, a group of centaurs were leveling the ground, filling in the many traps left from the previous battle.
Those pits, which were as deep as two and a half meters, were quite troublesome to fill in, but fortunately, a few goblin ants were manipulating worker ants to help them.
Not far away, another group of goblins was brought to the entrance of the fortress. They were slave soldiers of the Evil Throat Army captured by the patrol led by Red Eye. After the continuous large-scale search by these patrol teams, most of the slave soldiers had been gathered and were now assigned to various work teams by Sharl.
"Chief, you called for me." Green Skin walked quickly to Xia Er's side, then took a few quick breaths. Although the unicorn healed him in the previous battle, his injuries were still too severe, and he would need to recover slowly.
"Hmm," Sharl stood still, watching Red-Eye and the others unload the new goblins from the cargo box. They would need to perform an ankle-touching ceremony later, so Sharl couldn't leave yet. "Are you familiar with the area around the previous Evil Throat Army's base?"
"Familiar," Qingpi nodded.
"That's good. I'll be taking over that area in a few days, and I'll need you to guide me then," Charles said with a smile. The newly arrived slave soldiers had their ropes cut and were ready to accept their new fate.
"Yes, Chief." Green Skin nodded, patted his chest, then his expression tightened, and he bent over to hold his chest. The chief had given him a set of warm clothes, which sometimes made him forget the huge, hideous scar on his chest.
"Go do your work, don't push yourself too hard." Charles looked at his new subordinate, shook his head slightly, and then sent him back to the Tree People's Domain to work with Bucktooth, so that the Mother Tree's healing abilities could accelerate his recovery.
"I am your new leader." Seeing the goblins standing blankly in front of him, Sharl took a step forward. He had done this procedure many times in the past few days and was very familiar with it. He didn't even bother to emphasize to his subordinates that they were saying "green egg, green egg" and made them change their way of speaking.
Just as the centaurs turned their heads and watched the goblins bow with glee, a huge blue python's head emerged from the distant woods, and beside the python, a female mage stepped out from behind a tree.
"This place is surprisingly large," Alma said, squinting as she gripped the tree trunk.
Although she had a route sketch drawn by Ricardo, she searched blindly for a long time because she was unfamiliar with the Nightmare Forest. However, after many days, she finally found the "tall trees" drawn on the route map. After passing through the rustling forest, she was very surprised to find this open clearing in the forest.
The centaurs and goblins working there constantly challenged her understanding: "Those centaurs are building wooden huts, and those goblins can control ants that big?"
She held up her binoculars and began to slowly scan a scene she could never have dreamed of. "Centaur can cooperate with goblins, and these goblins are even wearing decent clothes and riding mounts. It's unbelievable."
Intuition told her that this tribe, which was completely different from what was recorded in natural history books, was very likely the one she was looking for. It wasn't until she saw the figure of the short, bald goblin in the telescope that she gritted her teeth and became certain of her judgment.
"After searching for so long, it turns out you were hiding here." Alma slammed her fist on the tree trunk. "And it seems you have a pretty capable group of men under your command."
After Alma killed Scarface, she developed an even deeper hatred for the goblin race. She would never trust a goblin again. During the few days she searched in the forest, she also killed several goblins with her own hands. Their wailing sounds annoyed her and gave her a sense of revenge.
She began to think about how to kill the goblins after she found them, and how to torture the goblin that dared to kill the Deinonychus. She even referred to various punishments recorded in ancient books.
Unfortunately, after she found her target, she discovered that the other party actually possessed considerable strength.
"In that case, we'll need to think of something." Alma frowned, then took out the hastily drawn route map and made some markings on it so that she could come here directly next time. "The time limit for entering the forest this time is approaching, so we need to go back to Goat Horn Town first."
If you don't leave the forest as soon as possible, you'll easily be affected mentally, see hallucinations, and eventually get trapped in the forest and die.
Having made up her mind, Alma gently patted her astral python, then turned and disappeared into the rustling forest. However, she didn't notice that her reflection in a nearby puddle did not follow her.
"This annoying smell... it's so familiar," the reflection in the puddle took a deep breath. "There's no doubt about it, it's that idiot, Angry."
"Interesting. Why does this place smell of anger?" The reflection's lips curled into a smirk, then its eyes changed. One became a black, empty hole, while the other flickered with red and blue light. "Could it be that someone has found its long horn?"
The reflection smiled slightly, then darted towards the large open space.
The puddles no longer bear any trace of reflections, only the creaking reflections of the trees remain.
…………
"Is this an ancient city?" Agatha asked, holding a torch and looking at the huge relief on the wall.
"That should be it." Charles nodded. He had already carefully examined the reliefs before, and was now looking back at One-Eyed leading the newly joined goblins in sorting through the materials.
He found it rather amusing; these goblins, who hadn't been able to invade the centaur village when they were with the Evil Throat Army, could now freely enter and leave this abandoned village while following him.
Evita had previously conveyed the centaur tribe's thoughts to him: they did not want to return to this place. On the one hand, the place had been completely destroyed and no unicorns remained here; on the other hand, many people would be reminded of their past and their deceased loved ones if they returned here.
"What are these cities?" Agatha asked without turning her head, touching the relief.
"Elton said this is the city of all races in the forest," Sharl said, pointing to a city relief. "Most of their skeleton warriors live here."
"And that one floating in the sky, they call it the City of Pure White, or the City of the Tower of Babel."
"The City of Babel?" Agatha turned her head and stared at Ciel.
