Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins
Chapter 214 Just Do It
"What's the problem, boss?" A voice came from not far away, interrupting Charles's thoughts.
When Charles turned around, he saw Little John walking over with a smile. "Tell me, boss, maybe I can run an errand for you."
"You're back." Charles stood up, smiling at the "future hero" before him. "How's the Holy Water?"
He desperately wanted to know if the holy water had been brought back. Now, no one was allowed to enter his stone house without his permission, for fear of accidentally triggering the angry horns and causing an accident.
“I came back to report this,” John said immediately. “I know you specifically said this was important, so I rushed back as soon as I got the news.”
Then, Little John told the chief about his experiences in Black Lion City, while gesturing and drawing on the ground to make the chief understand the current situation regarding the holy water. In the meantime, he also tossed a bag of "chestnut biscuits" to the troll Grassy next to him.
"Looking for us?" Charles narrowed his eyes. "Are these druids from the Church of Earth and Life reliable?"
"I can't jump to conclusions," John said, his smile fading. "Like I said before, I only fought alongside her on the ship. She must be a very skilled druid, considering she single-handedly took down that horde of skeletons that climbed up."
"Yes, and according to what you said, she has some status in the church." Charles turned his head and looked to the west, on the other side of the forest, next to the Treant Domain, which was where he led his men to fight that fallen druid. Now it has been transformed into the tribe's underground branch, mainly used to store some supplies and to prepare for the storage of Treant Fruits next year.
"Fortunately, I was dealing with Valentine's army at the time and missed that druid, otherwise she would definitely have seen my men going in and out of the forest, and then they would probably have come knocking on my door long ago."
"But I burned that lab notebook a long time ago," Charles said. "Even if she comes looking for it, she won't be able to get it back."
"That's what I'm worried about. If I tell her there's no notebook, she'll definitely be suspicious. After all, it doesn't mean I didn't find the goblin," Little John nodded in agreement. He knew that if he told Sophia there was no notebook, she definitely wouldn't believe him, especially since he had seen her turn into a fat owl before. "I'm afraid she'll secretly follow me and then come looking for me."
"One thing we can be sure of now is that the other party doesn't seem to have any hostility," Charles frowned. "We didn't damage the forest back then, and we even helped the mother tree, which is a good thing, and it's somewhat similar to the doctrines of the Church of Earth and Life."
"Yes," John nodded, "I didn't sense much aversion towards the tribe in my conversation with her; rather, I felt more curiosity."
Charles stroked his chin and began pacing back and forth, pondering how to handle the situation. He wondered if the druid would trust him if he took the initiative to explain things to the other party. But then again, he doubted anyone would trust a goblin upon first meeting him, even if this goblin had a decent reputation among the various creatures in the forest.
"But if we don't meet, we won't be able to get the holy water." He clenched his fists a few times, feeling annoyed with Count Valentine. Why was he trying to steal the holy water from me? It turns out he had already bribed him and it was all settled.
"Alright then," Charles finally decided, "I'll gather all the items from that fallen druid again. You take Sansio or Yunsia over there first, and then let them determine if the other party has evil intentions. The little fairies are small in size, so as long as they hide well, they shouldn't be too easy to be discovered."
"That's one way," John nodded. "As long as we confirm that Sophia doesn't have any evil intentions, then we can consider making contact with her."
"Then you can have Sancia hide in your hat, so no one should be able to tell," Charles said with a smile, gesturing. "That kid has been saying he wants to go out and see the world, but I think we should let Yunxia go. After all, her past experiences were very painful, so we shouldn't let her be reminded of those painful memories."
"Okay, I'll go find Sansio right now." Little John nodded in agreement, and at the same time prepared to return to the fortress to handle the follow-up matters.
"Make contact first. If there are no problems, hand over those alchemy notes and such to that druid." Charles watched Little John walk away, pondering how to proceed. Ever since he obtained the Horn of Wrath... With jealousy constantly knocking on his door, he feared that the remaining demon lords would all line up to come to his stone house. "In that case, I might as well just open a lost and found office in Goathorn."
Moreover, those guys are no pushovers. If they end up angering the demon lord, I believe I won't even have a chance to beg for mercy.
"My head hurts," Charles rubbed his temples. "We still haven't found a way to deal with the petrifying lizards, and now a powerful druid has appeared. Why do things all happen at once?"
"Here, eat." Seeing Xia Er frowning and muttering to himself, Cao Cao, who was sitting next to him, handed him a chestnut biscuit. "Eat your fill and your headache will go away."
Charles glanced at the troll, then smiled and took the flatbread. "Hmm, a full stomach will cure my headache."
As he spoke, he put the food in his mouth. "Hmm, it tastes pretty good, but it's a bit cold. It would have tasted even better if it had just come out of the oven."
Sharl smiled and took another snack from Grass. Nowadays, many people in the tribe like to give snacks to trolls. Little John and Mary would bring some snacks from Goat Horn Town to everyone whenever they came to the fortress, mainly for Grass. It was as if everyone liked this "big baby" who didn't have any bad intentions.
"We've finished eating, let's practice a little longer," Charles said, looking at the troll.
Cao Cao immediately put away the bag in her hand, saying, "No, Cao Cao needs to practice, Cao Cao needs to protect the green egg."
After saying that, he stood up, bent down, picked up a rugby ball-shaped stone, and threw it into the air.
With a "whoosh," the stone streaked across the sky, and then the straw figure, which had been suspended in the air by the magic servants in the distance, exploded with a "bang," and bits of straw slowly fell to the ground.
"Well done, wow!" Charles clapped his hands and said, "How did you do that?"
The three-meter-tall troll scratched the back of its head shyly and said in a muffled voice, "I just threw it like that, and it hit."
"Yes, you're right." Charles nodded with a smile. "What dilemma, what trouble..."
"Just do it."
