Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins

Captain Byron huddled behind a large tree, nervously peeking out to watch the fight between several people in the middle of the square.

Several goblins were crouching around him, whispering something. Although Byron couldn't understand a word, the goblins were holding sticks and stones, as if waiting for their leader's command to do something. This made Byron hesitate. He looked around and saw that there were no stones, only a branch about the thickness of a wrist, so he picked it up and held it in his hand.

After gripping the branch tightly, his tense emotions eased slightly, as if he had found some stability.

The goblins around him were still talking in hushed tones when one of them pulled out a bag, took out several white worms, and distributed them to the surrounding goblins. They continued to chat while chewing on them. Then, the goblin turned around, nudged Byron, and handed him a wriggling, lively white worm.

Byron couldn't understand the goblin's language, but he understood what the other party meant, so he could only smile apologetically and wave his hand, refusing this "kindness".

He stared at the center of the square while glancing sideways at the goblins beside him. These green-skinned monsters were completely different from what he knew before, and he found his current situation even more unbelievable. If someone had ever told him, "One day you will be squatting with goblins watching others fight," he would have slapped that person a few times and questioned why they were cursing him.

But reality is just that magical.

The goblins around him were still whispering among themselves, chewing on white worms as if they were snacks. This made Byron feel a little dazed. He felt like he was in Gieshorn with a group of drinking buddies, squatting outside the tavern watching drunken men fight.

"Is this what a real goblin is?" Byron muttered to himself.

When Charles spoke with him earlier, he was already somewhat tempted. Indeed, no one used this waterway, and the round trip was very fast. There was no need to worry about danger. Moreover, with so many goblins, according to the chief, the amount of resources needed for exchange was enormous. If he had his own ship, he could quickly acquire a large amount of wealth, not to mention that he also had a "dedicated berth" in Gynthorn.

Moreover, the goblin spoke with great confidence, and in Byron's eyes, its small body seemed to gleam, and its words and suggestions sounded very feasible.

"Should I discuss this with the crew?" Byron murmured.

This was a great opportunity, a chance to expand the transportation business. Byron didn't initially like sailing; he first studied acting and wanted to join a theater troupe. Unfortunately, he received news of his father's death and had to take over the family's cargo ships ahead of schedule.

After running for many years, the ship is still the same "Retire Once You've Earned Enough" – a very ordinary cargo ship that can be seen everywhere on the Dallen River, without any extra accessories.

The crew members were the same, some old and some young, some newly joined young people, and some older sailors who were still clinging to the ship to make a living.

Byron didn't fire the "unqualified" sailors initially because these guys were familiar with the ship and knew how to operate and maintain it. Later, as they got to know each other better and understood their hardships, he gave up the idea.

"If we keep running this waterway, it's good news for everyone." Byron pursed his lips. There was a young sailor who had mentioned wanting to go back to take care of his sick mother. However, if the cargo ship received a transport contract from Black Lion City or other ports, the sailor only had two options: one was to give up this mission and go home to take care of his mother, and the other was to go with the cargo ship for several days until they also received a cargo order to transport goods back to Giraffe Town, so that he could return with the ship to see his mother.

However, if we sign a long-term agreement with the goblins now, we can run this waterway indefinitely, and the round trip will only take two days. We won't have to worry about not having any orders and having to wait in vain. The crew members can also take two days off if something comes up, since there are fixed berths at Giethoorn Wharf.

"Could it be that the blessing from that Holy Crusade commander really came true?" Byron smacked his lips and muttered to himself, "I thought he was just fooling us with that casual touch."

"Clang!" The sound of swords clashing echoed continuously from the center of the square, pulling Byron back to reality. "I hope these goblins are alright. This so-called president looks very powerful, but with so many goblins, he should be able to handle them."

"After the battle, I'll have a proper talk with the crew and try to get everyone to accept this." He frowned, having made up his mind. However, he didn't realize that he was still very resistant to meeting the goblins when he came.

…………

With a clang, Diana forced Little John back with a spinning slash, then dodged Cao Cao's hammer, but was then knocked away by Red Eye.

However, she was wearing the Crusader's dwarven steel armor, and with the protective magic, such attacks couldn't harm her.

Diana is now surrounded by a faint, multicolored glow, and various protective effects are working together, allowing her to confidently withstand enemy attacks.

At first, these guys swarmed in and fought without any strategy. There was even a moment when the troll swept Little John away with a single hammer blow.

Just when Diana thought she could win easily, the annoying goblin leader loudly reminded them, "The trolls will lead the attack, Red Eyes and Little John will assist, and Pazzani will use magic to restrict the enemy's movement."

After several repetitions, these guys gradually developed a good working relationship, as if they were practicing together all the time.

Just like now, the troll was swinging its giant hammer and attacking her haphazardly. Although it seemed to have no technique or method at all, the powerful force of the hammer would still slow her down if she was hit. In those few seconds, the other two took the opportunity to attack, making her flustered and confused.

What's even more infuriating is that fish-headed, human-bodied Naga. Whenever you try to create distance, he immediately fires ice spears to restrict you, followed by the troll's hammer attacking right in front of you.

"A combination of a berserker, a swordsman, and a mage is indeed difficult to deal with. It would be even more troublesome if they had a healer on the side," Diana frowned, ducking to avoid the swinging hammer. "No, this guy is a troll. He can regenerate and heal himself."

"Third Uncle, what should we do?" she asked in a low voice as she surveyed the area. "Abandon the trolls and attack the swordsman directly?"

"But that would expose my back, and I'd be attacked." Diana slid to the side, dodging an ice spear.

"I know trolls are powerful, but I don't know if we can defend against their onslaught." She glanced warily at the group of undead, considering her options. "You mean that red-eyed goblin, the one holding Uncle Four?"

"But why isn't Fourth Uncle coming to help?"

"You want me to hold the sword hilt myself before you can awaken him?"

"But how can I hold the hilt of the sword?"

Diana grumbled irritably. Sure enough, John was connected to "Uncle Four." Coming to Gieshorn was the right choice, but she never expected things to turn out this way.

"Alright, I'll listen to Uncle San and take down one of the swordsmen first." Diana narrowed her eyes, having made up her mind.

Immediately afterward, she brandished her twin swords, ducked low, aimed at the hastily swung hammer, and then leaped up, kicking the hammer head directly. As the troll staggered, she shot straight up from the air towards Little John behind her.

"Your turn." Diana's lips curled into a smirk as she slashed down with her twin swords from the air. The enchanted blades drew sword shadows in the air, hurtling towards Little John like a half-moon.

John's eyes widened in surprise. The turn of events was beyond his expectations. The commander of the Crusaders would actually use such a sword technique, using the troll's massive body to obscure the view before leaping into the air to attack him. This was something no one present had anticipated.

He had no choice but to hastily raise his sword to prepare to block the opponent's full-force strike, but Little John understood the girl's attack power, and his hasty defense probably wouldn't be of much use. At the very least, he would be seriously injured.

The blades clashed with a clang, and Little John felt as if he had been hit head-on by a troll. He was sent flying backward, but his longsword was not broken, and he was not seriously injured except for two cuts on his arm from the opponent's sword magic.

"Strange." He frowned, wondering why the girl's sword moves had become restrained, when he saw something that shocked him.

The red-eyed man's sword-wielding hand was severed at the forearm.

Just after Little John was repelled by Diana, Red Eyes immediately drew his sword to come to the rescue. However, as if she had foreseen this, the leader of the Crusader Army took a step back with lightning speed after landing, dodging the [Shamrah Black Sword] in Red Eyes' hand. At the same time, "Uncle Three," who was floating behind Diana, suddenly slashed down, directly severing Red Eyes' arm.

"You didn't expect that, did you? You were my target from the start," Diana said with a smirk. She then tried to catch the goblin's arm as it flew through the air, but a tremendous force came from behind her, and she was swung away.

"Ouch, that hurts." She quickly stood up and twisted her back. The damage from that hasty hammer blow was limited; Diana only felt some pain.

But then, she stood there in astonishment, watching as Akame ran over, picked up her arm from the ground, and then slammed it against her severed arm. The cut was visibly coming back together, and although it was still bleeding, the arm's function had miraculously returned.

"You, you're a goblin, how can you [regenerate]?" Diana said through gritted teeth, bewildered by the scene. She had never heard of a goblin possessing the abilities of a troll.

Akame switched to holding the sword in his other hand. His severed hand was still bleeding, but his fingers were visibly moving and he could even make a fist. However, the pain in his severed hand had not disappeared, which made Akame grit his teeth and his eyes turn even redder. "You're dead."

"You actually targeted Red Eyes from the very beginning." Little John wiped his cheek with the back of his hand.

"Hmph," Diana glanced around at the enemies. For the first time, she felt that these guys were not easy to deal with. Each of them seemed to have something unusual about them: a troll with "super strength" like a small giant, a goblin with regenerative abilities, a human swordsman who had learned a stun eye technique from somewhere, and a naga that she could never normally see.

Oh, and that annoying goblin too.

"This is going to be tough." Diana smirked. "So, who should we kill first?"

"Moo—" A moo from an elephant drew everyone's attention. A tusked elephant emerged from the distant woods. This elephant was larger than a typical forest elephant, but it still looked quite normal.

Diana felt a chill run down her spine. Years of combat experience told her that this elephant was extremely difficult to deal with; it must be a magical beast, as evidenced by the faint black aura emanating from its body.

"A magical beast?" Seeing the elephant charging towards her, Diana immediately got into position. "Come on, I've personally slain many mid-level magical beasts, so even high-level ones are no problem."

As the elephant charged, the leader of the pilgrimage army was about to swing his trunk when a shout suddenly rang out from behind, "Elephant Lord, don't kill her!"

With a loud "bang," Diana crossed her twin swords to defend against the elephant's trunk's sweeping attack. But the moment the blades touched the trunk, she felt the whole world freeze. The violent power erupted in the next instant, and she was sent flying like a cannonball, with several gaseous rings even appearing in the air.

With a loud "boom," a stone wall in the distance collapsed. Diana, who had been thrown into the air, crashed into the stone wall, knocking it down in half and pinning her to the ground.

"He should be alright, right? This guy still has a big use to him." Charles craned his neck to look, he had already thought of how to use this Crusader commander. "Go check if he's still alive."

With a "crash," a pile of stones rose from the pile, revealing a dusty-faced girl. She brandished two swords and began to look at the elephant with a serious expression.

"Alright, don't go. Go do something for me." Seeing that the girl with the high ponytail seemed to be alright, Ciel immediately instructed the buck-toothed guy next to him to do something.

"Such immense power, you're more than just a high-level magical beast," Diana said through gritted teeth. That attack had been the first time she had been injured; the powerful force had penetrated her body. Even though she was wearing armor and had added many protective spells, she still couldn't withstand the attack.

Without waiting any longer, she charged directly at Zane, sword in hand. Everyone else was completely out of her sight; she had only one goal: "Are you the evil god the Crusaders wanted to kill? Prepare to die!"

She quickly rushed to the elephant, which then raised its two front legs and slammed them down onto the ground.

With a loud "bang," a shockwave spread outwards like lightning, directly blocking the Crusader Commander's movements. However, despite the shockwave's attack, Diana shouted, "Holy Slash!"

A massive sword blade, gleaming with seven-colored light, plunged straight down from the sky towards Zunesha. This magical sword blade was exceptionally large and looked incredibly powerful, as if it could sever Zunesha's head in the next second.

But just as the sword touched Zunesha, with a loud "clang," the sword shattered into pieces, disintegrating in mid-air, seemingly unable to break through Zunesha's defense.

"The Holy Slash failed?" Diana was stunned. She hadn't expected that her full-force skill would be unable to break through Zunesha's defense.

The next second, she was flung away by a nose again.

"Cough cough cough," Diana struggled to her feet, wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand. "It seems that dealing with the evil god is still a bit difficult."

"It seems this is the only way." She narrowed her eyes, then untied her high ponytail with one hand, letting her dusty hair fall loose, "The appearance of a high angel."

As she shouted, a beam of white light shone directly onto Diana's body.

Then, the white light dissipated, and the girl slowly opened her eyes. A dazzling white light flashed, and she shook her huge white wings and slowly floated up. The wings shimmered with a faint white light, and there were golden patterns among the feathers, which seemed to be the effect of magic.

The three longswords had now merged into a giant sword, which she held in her hand.

"Now, it's my turn."
