Douluo Continent: Starting with a Void Treasure Trove

"Before you set off, make some preparations. Also, you should have that thing back."

Kong Deming took out a pendant from his pocket. It was crescent-shaped and white, making it look like a miniature moon.

"This pendant is called the Silver Moon Guardian; it was a token of your parents' love."

Xu Yang noticed that Kong Deming's expression was noticeably saddened when he talked about his parents.

His parents died when he was only one year old. Xu Yang had asked Kong Deming about the cause of his parents' death, but he always avoided the topic.

If you ask other people in the ancestral hall or your father's old friends, they will all be very reluctant to answer.

Xu Yang knew that his parents' deaths were not simple. His father, Xu Qing, was a distant branch of the Sun Moon Royal Family. He had awakened a rare innate full soul power, along with the powerful Purple Radiance Annihilation Dragon Martial Soul.

With his exceptional talent, Xu Qing quickly gained the attention of the former Sun and Moon Emperor.

However, his father was a pragmatist and, apart from the necessary cultivation resources, did not accept any title of prince.

On the contrary, he earned the trust of the former commander of the Imperial Dragon Soul Mentor Legion by working his way up from the ranks.

And he successfully became the vice commander of the Imperial Dragon Soul Master Legion at the age of thirty, with his level eighty-eight Soul Douluo and near-level nine Soul Master cultivation.

Moreover, he had an excellent relationship with the other legion commanders, who unanimously supported him in becoming the next legion commander of the Imperial Dragon Soul Instructor Legion.

It was precisely because of this that he was appreciated by his maternal grandfather and was accepted into Kong Deming's school of martial arts, becoming his grandfather's disciple.

As for Xu Yang's mother, she is Kong Deming's only daughter named Kong Yue. She is also quite talented and skilled, possessing the Martial Soul Silver Moon and innate soul power of level nine and a half. She is about ten years younger than Xu Qing.

Their love story is a simple tale of a senior and junior brother and sister.

They got married a year after they started dating, and then they had Xu Yang.

Everything was normal here, but when Xu Yang was one year old, his mother needed to hunt down a spirit ring in order to break through to the Soul Douluo level.

It was only a spirit ring of about 70,000 to 80,000 years. Xu Yang's father had already broken through the title barrier and was a titled Douluo with a ninth spirit ring of 100,000 years.

He was also highly regarded by the Sun Moon Empire and was expected to become the first man in the Sun Moon Empire to break through to Super Douluo, as well as a legendary level 10 Soul Master.

With his level 93 soul power and the cultivation of a level 9 soul master, Xu Qing was considered the strongest person below Kong Deming at the time. He could even defeat a level 98 Super Douluo from Douluo Three Kingdoms using his soul tool.

In addition, Kong Deming's research on his natal soul tool was at a critical stage at that time.

Since it was just a ten-thousand-year spirit ring anyway, Kong Deming didn't go with Kong Yue to hunt for it. However, just to be on the safe side, Kong Deming also sent a retainer from the Hall of Worship as a backup.

This duo, who could easily defeat even 100,000-year-old soul beasts, perished while hunting for soul rings, their bodies mutilated beyond recognition.

Even the one who offered the worship was the same.

The deaths of Xu Qing and Kong Yue caused a great shock at the time.

Even setting aside their noble status, Xu Qing, as Kong Deming's successor and the future pillar of the Sun Moon Empire, unexpectedly perished in the hunt for Soul Rings.

This was a significant blow to the Sun Moon Empire.

Upon learning the news, Kong Deming immediately headed to the Jingyang Mountains, because Kong Yue's target for her eighth spirit ring was a 75,000-year-old Silver Moon Wolf King.

However, when Kong Deming returned, his face was gloomy, clearly indicating that even he had no clue about the two men's deaths.

After that, Kong Deming took Xu Yang into his life and raised him personally until now.

This news was completely kept under wraps among the high-ranking officials of the Sun Moon Empire, becoming a taboo subject that could not be discussed.

"Ah Yang, remember, don't ask too many questions about your parents before you break through to the Title Douluo level. Knowing too much will only do you harm."

Xu Yang nodded obediently.

Since Kong Deming said that, he must have his reasons.

He had long suspected that his parents had been murdered, coupled with the horrific coup that swept through the entire Sun Moon Royal Family six months prior.

The reasons behind this are worth pondering.

"I know that Grandpa, knowing too much before you have enough strength will only cause you more trouble. I will cultivate to the level of Title Douluo as soon as possible, and then..."

Xu Yang said with a firm expression.

Kong Deming nodded in satisfaction.

"Okay...okay..."

"Ah Yang is so sensible."

"Yue'er, Qing'er, if you two could know this in the afterlife, you could rest in peace..."

Kong Deming murmured to himself.

"Now I'm handing over the Silver Moon Guardian to you. This soul tool was designed by your father specifically for your mother as a defensive soul tool."

"The Silver Moon Guardian, just like its name suggests, can be charged by absorbing the power of moonlight or ordinary soul power."

"Of course, the energy replenishment speed of absorbing the power of the moon is much higher than that of ordinary soul power, and it also has the function of storage."

"In terms of level, it is undoubtedly a level nine soul tool, but its original design limit was level nine and a half soul tool, because it is of the same nature as the natal soul tool that I, your grandfather, am researching."

"On the other hand, it is a stripped-down version of my natal soul tool, the Silver Moon Divine Light Shield, except that the Silver Moon Guardian has greatly preserved its defensive capabilities."

"So it's actually a semi-finished product, and it's the only relic I found at the burial site of your parents."

"The two of them originally planned to start transforming this Silver Moon Guardian into your mother's natal soul tool after obtaining the eighth soul ring."

"This is how it looks now, after I've repaired it. When you reach a certain level of cultivation in the future, I hope you can perfect it, which will also fulfill your parents' wish."

"Now I'm handing this soul tool over to you."

Kong Deming handed the Silver Moon Guardian to Xu Yang.

The necklace, which was originally very light, felt unusually heavy when Xu Yang held it in his hand.

He nodded heavily, his tone somewhat somber, and said:

"I will. I will let the Silver Moon Guardian continue to protect what it wants to protect."

Kong Deming was also pleased and continued his introduction:

"I have given you a preliminary introduction to the functions of the Silver Moon Guardian. With its current energy, it can withstand a full-force attack from a Limit Douluo or a one-minute attack from a level 98 Super Douluo."

"As for ordinary titled Douluo, it wouldn't be a problem for them to fight for ten minutes or so."

"This is the most important protective measure I've taken for you. Also, I'll sense when Silver Moon Guardian is triggered immediately."

"Well then, we can set off for the Soul Hunt now. Jingyang Mountain Range, it's been so long since we've been there..."
