I'll just have to test these goblin minions and see how effective the shield defense method I practiced at the training camp is.

A goblin leaped in front of Linsel and smashed it down on his head with a wooden club.

Linsset raised his shield to the left, and the wooden stick struck the shield directly.

It seems that this kind of ordinary attack can be easily defended.

Linsel slashed horizontally with his right hand, instantly killing the overconfident little monster.

Then, several pebbles flew towards Linsset, and he raised his shield to block them.

He also mastered the angle of raising his shield well when facing the enemy's ranged attacks.

Meanwhile, Kale was running quickly at the edge of the battlefield and fired a few more arrows. Two goblins throwing stones were hit by the arrows and lost their ability to fight.

Meanwhile, the goblin adventurers had already charged into the goblin horde.

His movements suddenly quickened, and he spun around like a shadow, his dagger slicing through the goblins' bodies, spraying out a mist of blood.

The remaining goblins collapsed instantly.

"Scarface" cheered, "Good! Combat technique [Shifting Stars]! 'Flat Nose,' are you this ruthless to your own people?"

The goblin wiped the blood splattered on his face.

"#$^&%! (Goblin swear word), how many times have I said it, goblins are not goblins!"

The battle ended quickly, with Lindsay finishing off the fallen goblins one by one with his sword and cutting off their ears.

"Flat-Nosed" wiped the blood off his two sharp daggers: "Same as always, whoever kills the goblin ear gets it."

Lindsay and Kaller each killed two, while the goblin obtained seven goblin ears.

"If you don't lift a finger and just stay in the back, you won't even get a goblin ear."

Scarface sheathed his iron sword: "They're just some small monsters, enough for the newbies to practice on. But you, you're still fighting over the Iron-level monsters."

"hehe."

After cleaning up the battlefield, the four reorganized their equipment and moved on again.

"We're not far from the location of the lair mentioned in the quest log."

Linsley pointed ahead and asked, "What are you planning to do when we get to the goblin's lair?"

"Scarface" said, "It's daytime now, and goblins, those nocturnal creatures, are mostly inside their lairs. Let's just storm in."

"That's too reckless. We should just set it on fire."

The goblin adventurers have come up with a new strategy.

"To destroy these small nests, we can just smoke them out of the entrance."

"The 'flat-nosed' senior is right, this is the safest way!"

Lindsay also agreed with the goblin adventurers' tactics.

So the four of them collected some twigs and dry grass along the way.

After walking for a few more minutes, the trees in front of us gradually thinned out, and a small clearing appeared in the forest. In the center of the clearing was a stone cave exposed on the ground.

The four hid behind a clump of trees.

"How do you think these nests appeared out of thin air?" the goblin asked, pointing to the stone cave.

"If even you don't know, how could we possibly know?"

Scarface was about to pat the goblin adventurer on the shoulder when the latter brushed him off with his arm.

"Your mouth is still as sharp as ever. Just say it, Scarface, are you also thinking of leaving the [Sharp Teeth] team?"

"I do think so. This squad is almost finished, but if I were the captain, it wouldn't be like this."

"That won't do, at least not before I die."

The two were bickering when Kale exclaimed, "Look, two goblins are coming out of the cave!"

Linsel looked toward the entrance of the nest and sure enough, two short, green-skinned creatures emerged from it. They looked around aimlessly, seemingly wandering around the entrance.

"Senior, what are they doing?" Kale asked.

"On lookout duty."

The goblin continued to explain, "I know goblins very well. They're a bit slow on the uptake and usually only follow two or three fixed routines."

For small to medium-sized goblin lairs like these, there are usually a few small monsters patrolling the entrance from time to time during the day. We just need to patiently wait for them to change shifts.

"How long will it take?"

"It will take no more than twenty or thirty minutes, with an interval of more than ten minutes in between, which is enough time for us to set it on fire."

Linsel and his companions waited for a while, and just as "Flat-Nosed" had said, the two little monsters returned to the cave.

"Walk."

The four got up and went to the entrance of the nest.

The goblin adventurer lit the prepared branches with a flint and steel, piled them at the cave entrance, and thick black smoke began to fill the cave.

"Kaller, go find some more branches."

Kaller did as instructed, while Lindsay and the two bronze-level adventurers lay in ambush at the cave entrance, waiting for the goblins to give up and come out before making their move.

Sure enough, within minutes, violent coughing and various strange cries of goblins came from inside the cave.

Several goblins filed out of the cave!

The goblins were instantly killed by Linse and "Flat-Nosed" who were guarding the left and right sides as soon as they showed their faces.

After killing several goblins, the remaining goblins realized that it was dangerous outside the cave and stopped coming out.

"Scarface" expressed his dissatisfaction: "See? Your tactics are ineffective. Let's just charge in and have a good time!"

"Flat-nosed": "We've reduced their numbers; now we have to wait for the smoke to dissipate a bit before going in."

After a few minutes, the fire of sticks was almost burned out, and the black smoke pouring into the nest also subsided.

Linsel used his [darksight] to observe the situation inside the cave. Through the black smoke, he saw goblins, who were being swayed and staggered by the smoke, relatively close to the cave entrance.

That fire attack was brilliant!

However, he heard a goblin's voice inside the cave that was different from the others.

The other person's voice was steady, as if it had a certain rhythm.

"Captain 'Flat-Nosed', did you hear any strange noises inside the cave?"

"Captain, you called me captain! Lindsay, would you like to join the team?" The goblin adventurer was clearly pleased.

"That's not the point. Listen carefully."

Scarface scoffed, "With all those noises in the cave, what can you possibly make out?"

The goblin ignored the middle-aged adventurer's words: "It's alright, we can go in now."

They lit torches and went into the cave.

At first, the cave was quite narrow and long, but after walking a dozen steps, the space began to expand and the light became increasingly dim.

The four men slaughtered all the goblins that had fallen to the ground due to the smoke along the way.

The goblin adventurer suddenly exclaimed, "I hear it! It's definitely the voice of some kind of goblin... no, it's a goblin shaman!"

Linsset was startled, then overjoyed.

Goblin Shaman? Looks like there's a new monster!

"Flat-nosed" shouted urgently, "We need to find it quickly, or it will be a real problem if it unleashes some troublesome magic."

Using his darkvision, Lindsay easily spotted the suspected target hidden in the darkness in the right corner of the cave.

This goblin looked quite old, holding a wooden cane in his hand. He raised the cane and swung it around, while making rhythmic, incoherent noises.

"It looks like it's in the right corner, hurry up and rush over!"
