Chapter 45 Advancement to Bronze-level Adventurer

"Things were fine a while ago, but these past two days, the roaming goblin raiding parties have been causing a lot of panic. You probably know that, otherwise we wouldn't have asked you adventurers to help with the patrols."

Cass continued, "If you encounter those green-skinned guys, don't get entangled with them, just go back to town and report the situation."

At that moment, a militiaman behind Cass pointed at Lindsay and shouted.

"I recognize you! You're the rookie adventurer who killed the giant wolf a while back!"

Upon hearing this, Cass looked Lindsay over carefully and said, "It really seems to be that adventurer from before. Good lad, you've already reached the Black Iron level. That dire wolf outfit you're wearing must have been made by that giant wolf."

Lindsay scratched his helmet: "It was made by old Sai's tailor shop in town. His craftsmanship is excellent, it's guaranteed."

"Goat" looked at the guards' uniform cotton armor and cloth hats and asked, "Captain Cass, your guard unit hasn't changed its equipment in years, has it?"

Cass touched the thin cotton padding on his chest and sighed, "Sigh, our town guards have always worn this kind of cheap cotton armor. In recent years, monster activity in the Twilight Forest has become more frequent, and dirty things keep popping out."

"The higher-ups don't even bother to spend a little more on maintaining order in Linchui Town. Even a few dozen copper coins' raise for our guards would be good enough."

"Then why don't you report this to the mayor?" Lin Sai asked casually.

"Kid, you're too naive. Without connections, the mayor is only interested in his old junk. By the time the kingdom allocates any money to him, there's hardly any left for security."

Afterwards, Lin Sai and his two companions followed the patrol team from the west side of Linchui Town to the south side, then to the east gate and the north gate.

Passing through barren wheat fields and desolate cemeteries, the journey was remarkably peaceful. Aside from encountering two traveling carriages, which Cass questioned about their origins, they didn't encounter any other living creatures.

This actually disappointed Lindsay, who was still hoping to encounter some new low-threat monsters and fight them.

A few hours later, after the patrol ended and he said goodbye to the town patrol, Lindsay returned to the guild tavern and went into the office.

"Assisted patrol in Linchui Township, 6 points recorded, here's your 4 silver coins."

After writing a few strokes on the quest log, Gina Vivi scanned it on the guild's machine.

"I now have 50 points. Can I advance to Bronze-level adventurer?"

"Give me the adventurer's nameplate."

Gina placed Lindsay's black nameplate into the machine slot.

"You have indeed met the promotion requirements. Do you wish to be promoted?"

"Promotion".

A moment later, Gina handed Linsel a bronze adventurer's badge, which was proof of being a bronze-level adventurer.

As Linsel walked out of the guild office, he looked at the brand-new, dark-colored nameplate in his hand and felt a pang of emotion.

I remember being extremely excited when I first transmigrated here two months ago and was promoted to a Black Iron-level adventurer.

Now that I've leveled up again and truly become the Bronze-level adventurer I've always aspired to be, a sense of solid satisfaction fills my heart.

"Congratulations, Captain! You're now a member of our Bronze-level adventurer army!" Broken Arrow congratulated him from the side, while Goat also affirmed Lince's abilities.

"Squad leader, now that you've been promoted to Bronze rank, we can now confidently undertake Bronze-rank missions."

The rewards for bronze-level missions are quite substantial; completing one mission is equivalent to almost half a month's wages for an average laborer.

Lindsay became even more excited after being praised by the two members of his team.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's accept the mission now! It's that lumber camp mission from last time, but surprisingly no one has accepted it yet."

"Actually, two adventurers accepted the job a couple of days ago," Gina, a guild member, said as she walked out of the office, "but they gave up later."

"Why is that?" Linsel asked, turning around in confusion.

"They said there weren't bandits in the logging camp, but several monsters they'd never seen before, looking a bit like...standing rats?"

"Goat": "The rat that stands up, is it a rat-man? These things are inherently evil and can only be classified as monsters."

"Broken Arrow" raised a question: "The enemies on the quest log are different from the actual ones. This has happened to the guild several times before. What's going on?"

"The guild conducts investigations before issuing each quest, so you can completely trust the guild. As for what the adventurers say, it may not be true, and if the situation changes later, that's beyond the guild's control."

Gina softened her tone: "Adventurers, this is my personal advice: when accepting quests, try to avoid those that have been hanging on the quest log for too long, otherwise some unexpected situations may arise."

Lindsay tore the lumberyard quest directly from the quest log: "There are rat monsters, right? No problem, we'll just beat them."

If what those two adventurers said is true, then he could go and see the new monsters that have appeared. Even if they are wrong, the bandits still occupy the lumberyard, and he is now confident that he can defeat those enemies.

The Vulture Gang members I encountered in the cemetery last time were easily defeated, which shows that their strength is nothing special.

"Goat" chimed in, "Lince, there's no need to rush. I know you just advanced and are itching to get your new badge, but at least let me and 'Broken Arrow' rest a bit."

"No problem. This mission has a long deadline. We'll set off tomorrow morning."

……

Outside Linchui Town, near the logging camp.

A horse-drawn carriage stopped at the end of a muddy dirt road, and the three members of the [Sharp Teeth] squad got off.

"The weather is still gloomy and there's a slight breeze. I hope it won't rain again."

"Broken Arrow" gazes up at the sky, holding a longbow.

"The heavy rain is affecting my archery skills."

"Goat" squinted and estimated: "Probably not, it was just a light drizzle yesterday."

He then pointed to an open area next to the Twilight Forest not far away and said, "Do you see those piles of wood a couple hundred meters away, and a few small wooden huts? That's the logging camp."

Linsset looked in the direction indicated by "Goat" and saw that there seemed to be no movement in the logging camp.

"We'll approach little by little, ready to engage the enemy at any moment."

Lindsay gave instructions to the two men, who simultaneously took the long-handled sword from their backs.

His left-hand crossbow was also ready to fire. If he encountered an enemy, he would first harass them with crossbow bolts, and then try out the two-handed sword he had been practicing these past few days.

The three of them slowly approached, getting closer and closer to the logging camp.

"squeak…"

Linsel suddenly heard a mouse squeaking, the sound was faint, and he immediately stopped and began to back away.

"The monster's voice seems to be coming from behind that pile of wood over there. Did you hear it?"
