Chapter 100 Lifting Up the French Window

Time flies like an arrow, and it's already April.

The indoor scenes for "Unnatural" have been mostly filmed, and the crew has begun moving to different locations for extensive outdoor shooting.

Today's filming location is a funeral home in the suburbs, and it's a major scene.

In the original version of "Unnatural," there is a scene at the end of the fifth episode that can be described as the most brilliant part of the entire series, almost a masterpiece.

Young Qin Sen brought his fiancée's body to the Unnatural Death Research Institute (UDI) requesting an autopsy. Police, citing witnesses who saw her jump into the sea, ruled it a suicide, but Qin Sen firmly believed his deceased wife loved him deeply and would never have committed suicide.

So he stole his fiancée's body from the funeral home and arbitrarily commissioned UDI to investigate.

After autopsy and investigation by forensic pathologists Chen Meiqin and Cheng Liyan, it was determined that the victim had died from dry drowning.

When he fell into the water, his face entered the water first, and he was instantly unconscious before drowning. Very little water entered his lungs.

Witnesses claimed to have seen a person jump directly into the sea, which contradicts the typical drowning posture of dry drowning, leading to the conclusion that what the witnesses saw was not the deceased.

The killer was eventually identified as the victim's colleague and best friend.

After learning the truth, Qin Sen broke down emotionally and stabbed the murderer twice in front of everyone at his wife's funeral!

The "divine strike" at the end of this episode wasn't actually as extreme as expected. The murderer wasn't killed, but was seriously injured and sent to the hospital. Qin Sen was also arrested by the police.

What was truly outrageous was Cheng Liyan's act of telling Qin Sen the killer's information, which directly prompted the other party to take revenge and raised serious suspicions of instigating murder.

The scenario of a forensic doctor instigating murder is absolutely impossible to pass police censorship.

Therefore, the plot here can only be changed so that when Cheng Liyan visits the research institute, he deliberately leaves information that Qin Sen discovers, and then Qin Sen chooses to take revenge on his own.

"Okay, actors, get ready. All departments, get ready," Su Liu said into the walkie-talkie.

Inside the arena, Zhong Chuxi lay on the ground, propping herself up on her arms. Zhang Binbin looked down at her, holding a prop knife in his hand.

A group of extras stood around them, with Dilraba and Li Xian standing not far away, preparing their emotions.

Action!

As the script supervisor slammed the clapperboard, Zhong Chuxi's face immediately filled with terror and struggle, while Zhang Binbin approached her step by step, his heart filled with despair.

"I did nothing wrong!" Zhong Chuxi screamed as she rolled over and struggled to crawl out. "I only pushed her lightly; she fell down by herself!"

"You've gone too far!" Zhang Binbin's eyes were bloodshot as he gritted his teeth and forced out the words. His steps were heavy, as if he were dragging an iron chain. He suddenly stepped forward, grabbed the back of her collar, and raised the knife to stab her.

"No!" Dilraba raised her hands halfway in the air, her voice trembling but trying her best to remain calm. "Mr. Qin, it's not too late to stop now!"

"What do you mean it's not too late?" Zhang Binbin said in a grief-stricken and hoarse voice, filled with a desperate will to die. "My wife is already dead."

He was breathing heavily, raised his hand, and glanced left and right as he recalled sweet moments with his wife.

"Mr. Qin!" Li Xian shouted from the side, "Stop!"

However, this shout seemed to be the last straw that broke the camel's back. Zhang Binbin's expression instantly turned ferocious, and the last glimmer of light in his eyes went out.

He raised his right hand and stabbed it hard at Zhong Chuxi beneath him.

"Cut." Su Liu sat in front of the monitor with the walkie-talkie in hand and said, "Passed."

"Phew—" No one cheered; everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Before this, the scene had already been reshot eight times.

This is another scene with intense emotional outbursts, especially for Zhang Binbin and Dilraba, who maintained a high level of intensity time and time again, almost reaching their limit.

"Okay, let's take a break and prepare for the next match."

The following scenes are relatively simple. When the police arrive and take control of the scene, Dilraba's character, Chen Meiqin, is the first to rush over to check on Zhong Chuxi, who is lying in a pool of blood.

Then came the end of the scene. Zhu Yawen, who played Cheng Liyan, stood silently to the side and watched everything before turning to leave.

Reba quickly ran over to stop him.

"You knew he was coming for revenge, didn't you?" Reba looked at Zhu Yawen with tears in her eyes and her eyes red.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Zhu Yawen's tone was completely flat, calm to the point of being cruel. He didn't want to pay attention to Reba and turned to leave.

"I don't understand why you let him kill people."

Zhu Yawen turned his head and looked coldly at Reba, "He did what he wanted to do."

Reba stood there, stunned, as if all her strength to question had been drained away.

"Cut! This one's a sure thing! Teacher Yawen's acting was spot on, and Dilraba was good too," Su Liu shouted from behind the monitor.

Dilraba squatted on the ground as if she had lost all her strength, and Mao Xiaotong quickly handed her a tissue.

The rest of the filming went smoothly. After the daytime scenes were finished, the location was moved to outside Shanghai Medical College to film a night scene.

Dilraba and Zhu Yawen were in excellent form. Chen Meiqin's persistence and Cheng Liyan's coldness clashed fiercely in front of the camera, and almost all of them were done in one take.

The progress was much faster than expected. Before nine o'clock in the evening, Su Liu seized the opportunity to announce that work was over.

Back at the hotel, Dilraba was visibly exhausted. After taking a shower, she fell into a deep sleep, unlike her usual self who would pester Su Liu.

Su Liu was finally free from the fear of being disturbed and went to Mao Xiaotong's room with peace of mind.

"Su Liu...can you pick me up?"

Mao Xiaotong's breathing was fine and rapid. She wrapped her arms around Su Liu's neck, and her voice was damp with moisture.

"It should be fine," Su Liu replied softly.

He reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her up. At that moment, the point of gravity dissolved in her body heat.

Su Liu even carried her for a couple of steps.

"Sister Xiaotong, see? I'm pretty good, aren't I?"

Mao Xiaotong leaned on his shoulder, her breathing ragged, and muttered a sarcastic remark in fits and starts: "So what if you're so great..."

"How long can you keep this up?"

Such exercise was too physically demanding. Su Liu usually lacked exercise, and now his hands and legs felt like they were filled with lead. He originally wanted to walk to the floor-to-ceiling window with Mao Xiaotong to enjoy the night view of Shanghai, but as soon as they got to the sofa, the two of them sank into the leather sofa.

What follows is an even tighter adhesion.

"Su Liu," Mao Xiaotong said softly, "I don't really want to act in 'Me Before You'."

"Huh? Why?"

The female lead in a movie doesn't even want to act. Have our own actors become this picky?

"The female lead in this movie is another small-town girl, a sweet and innocent type. I want to play some different roles and not let the 'sweet and innocent' label define me."

Lin Xi's character in "Unnatural" is also lively and cute, and coupled with the sweet girl persona created for her by her management team, Mao Xiaotong is eager to seek a breakthrough.

When Su Liu is exercising, it's hard for him to stay calm and think clearly, so he said, "Fine, if I don't want to act, I don't want to. So what kind of role do you want to play?"

"A villain, the kind of wicked woman who's evil to the core."

"All right."

"ah"
