Chapter 93 Knights and Monsters

Even though Dilraba is usually like a tireless superhero, able to get up at dawn every day to exercise, the battle she is playing as a female knight at this moment is far more physically demanding than any other sport.

Her arms, which were supporting her on Su Liu's shoulders, had begun to tremble slightly.

Sweat trickled down her slender neck, quietly seeping through the already thin, wine-red silk satin.

One of the thinnest shoulder straps had already given way and slipped off her rounded shoulder. However, because the silk was completely soaked with sweat, it did not hang down, but clung tightly to her hot, flushed skin with a damp, sticky feel.

The deep red fabric left a crooked, half-concealed mark on her fair chest, like a torn line of defense that rose and fell violently in the dim light with each of her rapid and heavy breaths.

Su Liu looked up at her, his gaze lingering between her swaying curves and her rapidly trembling collarbone, all he could hear was the chaotic beating of her heart.

But even a female knight has her limits. Soon, she was exhausted and defeated.

The arms that had been resting on Su Liu's shoulders went limp, as if they had lost their last bit of strength.

She fell heavily back into Su Liu's arms. The slipped shoulder strap, now completely unsupported, loosely wrapped around her arm.

"Teacher Su," Reba said weakly, "am I amazing?"

Su Liu gently patted her back as he said, "Amazing, amazing."

"You're just giving me the runaround."

"Who would ask such a question at a time like this?"

"Then what should we ask?"

In Su Liu's memory, Mao Xiaotong asked questions like, "Will you marry me?" and "Can you give me the love I want?" Thinking about it carefully, Dilraba's questions are easier to answer.

"You don't need to ask anything, just lie down."

"But that's strange."

Even when she was exhausted, Dilraba was still full of curiosity.

"If you really want to ask, you might as well pay attention to the Prism Gate incident."

"What is that?"

"The mass surveillance of its citizens by the Americans has been exposed. The person who exposed it was Snowden, I think. I don't know where he's fled to now."

Dilraba seemed to have regained her strength, propping herself up halfway, her face full of "Are you alright?" expressions.

"Teacher Su, is this what you're saying at such a romantic moment?"

"Or would you like to hear about the Syrian chemical weapons crisis?" When Su Liu said these nonsensical things, Reba covered her ears like a child.

"I don't want it, I don't want it, 6"

"So, you should go to sleep."

"I don't want it either!"

Hearing her willful words, Su Liu had no idea how to respond.

Just as he was trying to find his phone on the bed, Dilraba excitedly exclaimed, "Again, again!"

Su Liu was startled and couldn't help but exclaim "Ah!"

"Let's do it again!"

Instead of lying down, Reba straightened up again. The slipped shoulder strap swayed violently with her movements, like a battle flag being raised to rally its troops.

"Weren't you out of energy?"

"I'm all better now!"

Su Liu looked into her bright eyes, which had completely lost their dazed look. What's going on? She recovered so quickly; she's a real freak!

"Hurry, hurry!"

Regardless of the circumstances, even though she was a female knight, Su Liu completely seized control this time, twisting with her like a nine-linked ring, with something monstrous coiled at their point of intersection.

The battle between the knights and the monsters has officially begun.

"Teacher Su, let's stand up."

"Does it have to be like this? It's exhausting."

However, Dilraba did not give her a chance to bargain.

The fight began on the messy edge of the bed and staggered outwards. The burgundy halter-neck dress had vanished during their intense entanglement.

Ultimately, the struggle continued all the way to the bathroom.

When her back hit the cold tile, Dilraba couldn't help but cry out "Ouch!" and clung tightly to Su Liu's neck with both arms.

Monster-like creatures frantically roamed the cramped space, and the two were locked in a fierce battle within that small area.

In an instant, the attack came from behind, and she lost her balance, her hands bracing against the edge of the sink.

Two blurry, overlapping, and undulating shadows were reflected in the mirror, appearing particularly breathtaking under the light.

Finally, all the storms subsided, and Reba, having exhausted all her energy, fell into a deep sleep.

Su Liu finally breathed a sigh of relief and tiptoed to get dressed. He picked up his phone and, sure enough, the screen was piled high with unread messages.

The most recent one, posted ten minutes ago, was filled with anger.

"If you don't want to come, that's fine."

Su Liu immediately went out and quietly crept into Mao Xiaotong's room.

What appeared before him was a blank face. It's normal for anyone to be angry after such a long delay.

Mao Xiaotong merely glanced at him coldly before turning away. However, the door remained ajar, and Su Liu quickly followed her inside.

"Sister Xiaotong."

Mao Xiaotong walked to the coffee table and said in a casual tone, "Come on, have some cake. Are you hungry?"

"6

She bent down to arrange the plates and cutlery.

Su Liu then noticed a light brown round cake on the coffee table.

"Sister Xiaotong, aren't you going to ask me why I was delayed?"

"If I ask you that, how will you answer?"

Su Liu thought for a moment, "If you ask, I will tell you the truth."

"I can't be bothered to ask," Mao Xiaotong replied casually, cutting a piece of cake and handing it over.

"Huh? What flavor is this cake?"

"Hazelnut cake? You've never had it before?"

"This is my first time," Su Liu suddenly asked, "Sister Xiaotong, aren't you afraid I'm allergic to nuts?"

Are you allergic to nuts?

"No."

"Then what the hell are you talking about?" Mao Xiaotong's voice finally became more animated, and she couldn't help but roll her eyes at him.

Su Liu ate his cake while Mao Xiaotong sat beside him, resting her chin on her hand and silently watching him.

When you gulp down a mouthful of cream, it gets stuck in your throat, making your voice muffled.

"Sister Xiaotong, I'm currently writing a new novel."

"With so many things going on lately, you still have time to write a novel?"

"Actually, I started writing it last year. Sister Wenxiu kept urging me, so I wrote it on and off."

"Really? Is it another bizarre case?"

"No, this time it's a youth romance novel."

Mao Xiaotong doubted her ears for a moment, then quickly confirmed, "Youthful romance? Don't you write suspense?"

"I can write about love too!"

Mao Xiaotong immediately became interested. "What kind of story is it?"

"It's about two college students who meet by chance in a late-night café and are surprised to find that they have completely overlapping interests: reading the same books, watching the same movies, and even wearing the same white canvas shoes. This illusion of being 'another me in the world' makes them fall in love quickly."

"After graduation, the two started renting an apartment together, got a cat, and lived a life of working part-time while pursuing their dreams of illustration and their love of literature."

Mao Xiaotong's thoughts seemed to drift into that scene along with Su Liu's voice, and a longing light flashed in her eyes.

"You must think it's beautiful, right?"

She snapped out of her daze and gave Su Liu a disgruntled look. "You're not asking this to break them up, are you?"

"Of course," Su Liu said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"You," Mao Xiaotong couldn't help but poke his shoulder with her finger, "you really have a dark side."

"No, it's not that I'm being cynical; it's just that their relationship was inherently difficult to maintain."

Why?

"Well—" Su Liu deliberately kept it a secret, "I'll tell you later."

1

"What? You only say half of what you mean, how annoying!"

Su Liu stretched and patted her stomach. "We have to get up early tomorrow, Sister Xiaotong, let's go to sleep."
