The Black Bloodline of Hogwarts
Chapter 10 Hermione Granger
As the days went by, Julien quickly adapted to life at St. George's Primary School and soon became a star student in the class: he was gentle, friendly, academically excellent, and could even recite poetry in French, which quickly won him the favor of his classmates.
Thomas was his best friend, and the two often played together during breaks and discussed various topics.
Julien gradually discovered that this primary school was full of hidden talents. Although they were all Muggle children, many of them had extraordinary abilities.
Some children are musically gifted and can play the piano skillfully; some excel in sports and are good at running and playing football; and some even have a strong interest in politics and economics like little adults.
But Julien never forgot his identity. He carefully concealed his magical talent, never revealing it at school. He knew his grandfather's advice was correct: the wizarding world and Muggle society had their own rules of operation, and arbitrarily breaking down those barriers would only bring unnecessary trouble.
The first test after Christmas arrived as scheduled. This test covered three subjects: language, mathematics, and science, and aimed to assess students' learning progress after the holidays.
This test was a considerable challenge for the other students, but for Julien, it was stress-free.
The bell rang, signaling the end of the test. The students put down their pens and handed in their papers.
Thomas walked up to Julien, looking dejected, and said, "Julien, the math problems were so hard this time. I couldn't do several of them. You must have finished them all, right?"
Julien nodded: "Yes, it's all done. It felt pretty simple."
Thomas's eyes widened: "Wow, you're amazing! I don't think I'll do well on this test."
Julien smiled and reassured him, "Don't worry, I don't think it will be too bad."
A few days later, the test results were released.
Mrs. Davis walked into the classroom with the report cards, a satisfied smile on her face: "Class, everyone did very well on this test. Especially our new student, Julien Black, who got perfect scores in all three subjects and is first in the class!"
A murmur of surprise and admiration rippled through the classroom. The students all turned to look at Julien, their eyes filled with respect. Thomas, especially, excitedly patted Julien on the shoulder: "Julien, you're amazing! You're like you've cheated!"
A brown-haired girl in the front row suddenly turned her head, her brows furrowed, her eyes seeming to say, "This is impossible! First place is mine!"
Julien simply smiled faintly, not paying much attention. To him, getting first place in a primary school test was just an ordinary thing.
Unbeknownst to Julien, the girl in the row in front of him turned to look at him again. When she heard that Julien had won first place, her brows furrowed slightly, and a hint of resentment flashed in her eyes.
The girl had thick, fluffy hair and bright, sharp eyes. She sat very upright, her back straight, her hands on the table, appearing very focused.
After announcing the results, Mrs. Davis began explaining the exam paper. Julien listened somewhat absentmindedly, his gaze inadvertently sweeping over the brown-haired girl, noticing she was staring at him with a strong sense of challenge in her eyes.
Julien had just transferred schools and didn't know all his classmates yet.
"Hey bro," Julien nudged Thomas with his elbow, "who's that girl?"
Thomas followed Julien's gaze. "Oh, her. Hermione Granger."
"So it was her."
Julien remembered: Hermione Granger, the witty one in the Harry Potter stories. What a coincidence!
Hermione was an exceptionally intelligent and diligent girl, always ranking first in her class. In this life, her sudden appearance shattered Hermione's monopoly, no wonder Hermione looked at her with that expression.
Hermione noticed Julien's gaze, but instead of looking away, she met his eyes with even greater determination.
She has always been a standout among her peers since childhood, striving for perfection in everything she does. This time, she lost to a new transfer student in the test, which made her very dissatisfied.
The school bell rang, and Hermione packed her bag and walked straight over, extending her hand and saying in a clear voice, "Hello, Shrem Julien Black. I'm Hermione Granger."
She deliberately pronounced his full name in a clear and firm voice, with a hint of smugness that said, "I'll remember you."
Julien stood up and shook her hand. "Hello, Hermione. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Your grades are very good." She looked him straight in the eye, her tone serious. "But I won't keep losing to you. I'll definitely beat you in the next test."
Julien laughed, unconcerned: "I'm looking forward to it." He could feel Hermione's indomitable spirit, a spirit that reminded him of himself in his past life.
Hermione nodded, turned, and left the classroom. Watching her retreating figure, Julien's lips curled into a slight smile.
Thomas walked over to Julien: "Julien, ignore her. She's always like this." Thomas clearly disliked Hermione. "She always got first place in every test, always trying to lecture others, so arrogant."
Spring always arrives quietly in London. In the schoolyard of St. George's Primary School, the once withered yellow lawn gradually turns into a tender green. The cherry blossom trees in front of the school building are covered with pink and white buds. When the wind blows, delicate petals flutter down and fall onto the windowsills in the corridor and onto the students' textbooks.
Since that test, an invisible bond has formed between Julien and Hermione Granger, or more precisely, an "academic rivalry."
Hermione remained the same diligent and studious girl, always the first to arrive at the classroom and the last to leave. During breaks, she would often be engrossed in her books, as if knowledge were her most precious treasure.
Julien, with the experience of living two lives and a maturity beyond his years, has always maintained his position at the top of the class. Occasionally, he will give Hermione hints without making a sound when she encounters a problem.
"The logic of this math problem is flawed. Try dividing it into equal parts using a circle, but don't rush to substitute it into the formula."
During a break between classes, Hermione was frowning at a word problem, her fingers scribbling messy lines on her scratch paper. Julien walked past her seat, glanced at the problem, and said softly.
Hermione looked up, and behind her round glasses, a hint of surprise flashed in her brown eyes, which then turned into a stubborn refusal to admit defeat.
"Of course I know, I just haven't figured it out yet." She retorted, but still recalculated according to Julien's line of thought.
Before long, a relieved smile appeared on her face, and she said excitedly, "It's really solved! Julien, thank you." It was clear that Hermione enjoyed the competition, but she meant no harm.
"It was nothing," Julien smiled and turned back to his seat.
Thomas, standing to the side, was completely bewildered. He simply couldn't understand why Julien would be so close to Hermione.
In his opinion, Hermione, though intelligent, was too serious and rigid, unlike other girls who were lively and fun, and her two front teeth made her not so pretty.
"Julien, why are you always with Hermione? All she does is read and do homework, she's like a bookworm. Do you like girls like that?" Thomas whispered to Julien.
"To each their own, haha." Julien put down his book, joked, then looked at Thomas and said seriously, "Hermione is very smart and hardworking. And she's not a bookworm, she just has a stronger thirst for knowledge than we do."
Thomas pursed his lips, clearly disagreeing with Julien's words. But he didn't say anything more, after all, Julien was his best friend, and he respected Julien's choice.
