The Black Bloodline of Hogwarts

Chapter 17 Shopping Trip

Mrs. Malkin was stunned.

She had been running her shop for decades and had served countless wizards of all ages, including Black, Malfoy, and Weasley, but she had never seen a first-year student make such a "tactical" request as soon as he walked in, nor had she ever seen a young wizard carrying a controlled knife in Diagon Alley.

She couldn't help but glance at the seemingly refined and gentle young wizard again. "Interesting! This is the first time in all these years that a freshman has made such a request. Are you planning to open a dueling club on campus, young master? Or have you already foreseen being chased by trolls?"

"It's just a precaution," Julien replied earnestly, his eyes clear and firm. "My father often said, 'Elegance never goes out of style, but elegance comes from foresight, not luck.'"

These words instantly straightened Altair's back, his face beaming with pride that his son resembled him, even though he himself seemed never to have said such a thing.

He cleared his throat, stepped forward, patted Julien on the shoulder, then turned to Madame Malkin, speaking in a bold tone:

"Madam, I think Julien's idea is excellent! When I'm doing business, I also like to dress smartly. The suit must be tailored, the cuffs must be able to be rolled up, and the pockets must be deep enough—to hold business cards, contracts, and my equipment pen! Madame Malkin, make it for him! Money, oh gallons, is no problem!"

Mrs. Malkin was amused by the father and son, her eyes gleaming with the brilliance of a professional craftsman: "In that case, I'll make an exception. However, it can't be too outrageous, after all, we still have to get past Professor McGonagall."

She turned and walked towards the back room, muttering to herself, "Good, a big job is coming. I remember there are still a few bolts of specially made 'Swiftness' wool in the warehouse, lightweight and durable... and 'mica silk' lining for protection..."

After all, with the help of magic, many everyday things are done quickly.

Half an hour later, Julien not only received three standard robes (so black they could absorb light) and a winter cloak, but also two extra "tactical" school uniforms designed by Madam Malkin herself, incorporating Muggle tailoring concepts and magical fabrics.

The new suit features slightly tapered trousers and concealed elastic bands at the cuffs. The cape's lining is indeed made of protective material, which feels cool to the touch, like morning dew.

The most ingenious part is that there are three hidden pockets sewn inside the robe, one of which is even enchanted with a seamless stretching spell, so it can hold a lot of things!

"Are you satisfied?" Mrs. Malkin asked smugly.

"I'm extremely satisfied!" Julien thanked him sincerely. "You're simply a master of haute couture in the magical world!"

"If your classmates also think your clothes are interesting, you can recommend them to me to have them custom-made."

At this moment, Clara, dressed in a fancy magic robe, walked over accompanied by Professor McGonagall. The transaction was completed, and Clara happily wore the robe without taking it off.

Mrs. Malkin smiled and personally saw them to the door. Finally, she smiled at Professor McGonagall and said, "By the way, Minerva, you can pick up your magic robe next week. And you can keep these gloves for now; consider them a bonus."

Next stop: Flourish and Blotts.

Pushing open the heavy revolving wooden door, a strong smell of ink and parchment wafted out.

The store was bustling with the sounds of people and books. Rows of bookshelves stood tall, filled with books, some of which wriggled restlessly, and some even seemed to be arguing with each other, trying to sell themselves.

"Powerful Potion - 50% Off!"

"Don't believe it! 'Advanced Potion Making' is the way to go!"

"You're all wrong! True Potions Masters only read 'A Thousand Magical Herbs and Mushrooms'!"

A young shop assistant spotted Professor McGonagall and quickly squeezed through the crowd. "Professor McGonagall, hello. Are you taking new students to buy textbooks again?"

"Hello, Maxim," Professor McGonagall smiled and nodded. "How's your work here since graduation going?"

"Everything went very smoothly, and I must thank you for the introduction. Come on, junior, follow me. The textbooks for new students are all here."

Julien was in his element at the bookstore, quickly finding the list of textbooks for first-year students and beginning his precise purchasing.

While picking out textbooks, he also kept choosing extracurricular books that interested him, such as "Practical Life Hacks" and "One Move to Defeat the Enemy".

Of course, he ruled out "A School History," because Hermione would definitely buy that.

His parents, two Muggles, were also completely lost in this ocean of magical knowledge.

Altair casually picked up a book titled "Advanced Potion Making" and began flipping through it with an air of seriousness, muttering to himself, "Hmm, this recipe... it's a bit like the fermentation process we use for brewing wine... 'Add moonstone powder to the crucible and stir clockwise seven times'... Hmm, isn't that just controlling yeast activity?"

Clara was captivated by a singing fairy tale book, in which the elves were singing "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" in coloratura soprano. She was so engrossed in reading that she almost forgot she had come to accompany her son to buy books.

Professor McGonagall didn't rush them, but nodded slightly. A family that loves reading will always produce a good student who loves learning. I really hope Julien can come to Gryffindor.

Besides textbooks, they also went to a crucible shop. Julien quickly selected a standard-sized pewter crucible and its accessories under Professor McGonagall's instructions.

But when he saw an "ancient Egyptian mithril crucible" in the corner, engraved with ancient runes and said to be able to automatically adjust the heat, his eyes lit up again.

When asked about the price, even Altair gasped in shock. After hesitating for a long time, he was dissuaded by Professor McGonagall, who said that it would be a waste for a junior wizard like him to have a good cauldron.

In the end, Julien took the ordinary crucible with satisfaction, planning to modify it himself after he had mastered alchemy.

A wand is always the most important thing; it's a must-buy.

Firstly, he could keep the illegal French willow wand he was currently using as a backup. Secondly, buying a wand was an essential step for every young wizard, full of ritualistic significance, and Julien didn't want to miss it.

Ollivanders Wand Shop is relatively quiet, completely unlike the bustling shops in Diagon Alley. It's as if time has taken a nap here, and even forgot to sweep away the dust.

Julien entered the famous wand shop alone. Professor McGonagall said it was best for the young wizard to complete the task on his own. So Professor McGonagall led Julien's parents to sit in the dessert shop on the corner.

Although Ollivanders Wand Shop in Diagon Alley is said to have been established around the 17th century, the shop's sign above the door reads "We have been making fine wands since 382 BC." This was during the "Classical Age" of ancient Greece, a time of fierce competition between the two superpowers, Sparta and Thebes.

Julien's imagination ran wild, wondering if the 300 Spartans were able to resist the 100000-strong Persian army because of the involvement of sorcerers.
