The Black Bloodline of Hogwarts

Chapter 97 The Shield of Guardians

Julien chased after him without a second thought. Just then, the tall man rushed out of the next carriage. Both of them noticed that the light at the tip of the other's wand hadn't faded.

Julien knew this person must be Lupin. Lupin, on the other hand, was astonished that such a young wizard could cast a protective spell.

There were still many Dementors in the corridor, and more screams were coming from the cubicles, and a chill was spreading.

Lupin didn't hesitate for long, "Are you alright?"

"Barely enough," Julien panted, checking his magic power. "Can I release a few more..."

"Then let's split up. If it doesn't work out, we'll retreat back here." Lupin said, then raised his wand and charged towards the front carriage where there were more Dementors.

"Alright!" Julien gripped his wand and was about to rush towards the back of the carriage.

"I'll go with you!" Several voices rang out from behind, and Elizabeth, Liria, and even Daphne rushed out. They were pale, clearly not yet fully recovered from the Dementors' influence.

"Daphne, protect your sister, let's go!" Julien said, his voice carrying a firmness and decisiveness he himself was unaware of.

He rushed forward a short distance, and the sight in the corridor made him gasp. At least three Dementors were wandering around the carriage, and students were huddled in their seats, some crying, some dazed, and some already driven into a state of near-consciousness by the atmosphere of despair.

"Expecto Patronum!"

Julien raised his wand and recited the spell again. A silvery-white light surged forth, and the raven's outline became clearer than before.

Another Dementor retreated, but several more were pouring in from the back of the train.

Just then, a Dementor suddenly rushed out from a nearby cubicle and pounced on Julien. Julien didn't even have time to pull his wand back.

"Expecto Patronum!"

A beam of silver light shot out, blasting the Dementor away. Julien turned his head and saw Elizabeth Rosier.

"How come you know this too?"

"While you were studying in Nurmengard during the summer vacation, I wasn't idle either."

And so, Julien and Elizabeth, one on each side, took turns casting spells and quickly arrived at the parking space. Both were drenched in sweat and panting heavily.

Exhaustion was one aspect, but more importantly, both of them felt that although they had driven away the previous Dementors, the filth and cold aura that the Dementors themselves carried still affected them.

His mind became muddled, and the magic within his body seemed to be malfunctioning. When he tried to cast a spell, he was unable to draw magic out of his wand.

At this moment, two hands were placed on their backs, and instantly a cool breath flowed into their bodies, and the two felt the circulation of magic power within their bodies become smooth again.

Turning my head, I saw it was Liria, head bowed, softly singing an ancient song:

Who can say

where the road goes

where the day flows

~only time

The two felt their minds clear again, their breathing became smooth, and even their magic was restored.

Suddenly, a girl's voice came from a cubicle, "Watch out, ahead!" The voice sounded like their senior, Qiu Zhang.

But the two couldn't care less about anything else. Turning their heads, they saw three or four Dementors rushing towards them at the same time. Because the Dementors' robes and bodies were stuck together and tangled, it was impossible to tell exactly how many there were.

"I'll do it!" Julien shouted as he stepped forward.

"Praesidium Patronum! (Guardian Shield)"

It was the enhanced version of the Guardian Spell that he had just learned.

Behind them, Elizabeth and Lyria exchanged a glance, and their wands pointed simultaneously:

"Potentia Maxima!"

Instantly, two golden chains of light connected to the tip of Julien's wand. Julien immediately felt his magical output increase by 80-100%.

The silver light emitted from Julien's wand no longer scattered but instantly decomposed and recombined, transforming into a huge silver light shield engraved with a raven relief.

The shield not only blocked the three of them, but also unfolded to form a hemispherical silver barrier, covering a large area around it.

Julien, shielded by a shield of light, charged forward, forcing the Dementors back. At this moment, several more wizards from different compartments rushed out and followed behind them, unleashing various spells and incantations at the Dementors, regardless of their effectiveness.

As he moved forward, Julien felt an unprecedented confidence. His wand trembled in his hand, and a certain knowledge from Grindelwald, from Nurmengard, from the depths of his blood was awakening.

He remembered the ghostly smile of Evanna at the bottom of Falling Star Bay; he remembered the moments in the Chamber of Secrets when Rosier and Lyria fought alongside him; he remembered Grindelwald's words before the key to the Rose Gate failed—"Possibilities are the most lacking thing in our generation."

Just as Julien had driven the Dementors to the rear exit of the car, strangely, he found that his magic power had not decreased, but had increased significantly, and the light shield in front of him had become thicker.

Julien then realized that the Dementors were actually getting smaller and smaller, and in the end, they were not driven off the train by the Dementors, but rather they completely vanished.

Two words came to Julien's mind: transformation.

As the last wisp of black mist disappeared into the carriage, all the young wizards cheered with joy.

Julien breathed a sigh of relief, and his guardian light shield transformed back into a raven—a clear raven—which hovered above his head for a moment before dissipating into countless points of light.

"I didn't expect you to actually do it." A voice came from behind.

Julien turned his head and saw the middle-aged man from before leaning against the carriage door frame, his face pale but with a smile on his face.

The man was followed by a number of upperclassmen, led by Cedric Diggory of Hufflepuff, Penelope Crivart of Ravenclaw, Gemma Farley of Slytherin, and Percy Weasley, among others.

The man held two pieces of chocolate in his hand, which had become somewhat soft from his body heat.

"Here you go," he said, walking over and handing Julien a piece of chocolate. "The Dementors will suck away all your happiness; this is the fastest way to recover. The other one is for you two girls." The man said with a smile, "Well done!"

Julien ate the chocolate in silence, and sure enough, a warmth spread from his stomach to his whole body, clearly different from ordinary chocolate.

"Professor Lupin, oh, by the way, you're a professor, right?" Julien began. "Excuse me, I saw your name on your suitcase when I got on the train."

Lupin smiled and shook his head to indicate that he was alright, then said, "That's right, I am your new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor this year—Remus John Lupin."

The surrounding young wizards cheered quietly upon hearing this. After experiencing Lockhart's "torture" last school year, they thought the professor who could defeat the Dementors this year was amazing.

As the surrounding noise gradually subsided, Julien spoke again: "Professor, why are there so many Dementors boarding this time? How many guards are still in Azkaban...?"

Lupin's gaze sharpened, and he raised his hand to interrupt him: "How did you come up with these thoughts?"

"Oh, just thinking about it casually," Julien chose his words carefully.

"You're thinking a lot," Lupin said softly, "maybe too much. This isn't something a little wizard like you should be guessing about."

He straightened up and dusted off his robes. "Come on, let's go see Harry. Then... once we get to school, I think we can talk about your Patronus Charm. It's pretty good, isn't it? I've never seen a Patronus Charm like that before."

The train continued its journey across the Scottish Highlands, the clouds were dispersing, and the setting sun once again streamed through the windows, casting shadows and light within the carriage.
