Chapter 126 The Dungeon
"Don't go any further. Go back now, back to town. We promise we won't hurt you."
The monsters' voices, however, were not as elegant as their attire; instead, they carried an accent.
"Oh?"
Suren raised an eyebrow.
It seems that what these monsters fear is indeed the residents approaching that distant tree covered with glass bottles at night.
Perhaps there really is a solution to all of this on the other side of the tree.
"What if I refuse?"
"That's what Suren said."
The monster's smile froze.
It stopped uttering any more nonsense, and the muscles in its face began to contort.
The once smooth mouth suddenly protruded forward, like a spiral drill bit, covered with densely packed sharp teeth.
Suren remained expressionless as his right fist was instantly enveloped in purple magic, and he slammed it directly towards its head.
"Pfft!"
The monster's head, covered in sharp teeth, exploded on the spot, just like a watermelon.
This seemed to be a signal, as the surrounding monsters shed their human disguises, revealing their true forms, and slowly approached the two.
Boyd drew his gun, looking tense.
"Hurry up!"
Suren gave a low shout, grabbed Boyd's collar with one claw, and bent his legs slightly.
The next moment, a small pit was trampled into the ground.
Suren carried him several meters into the air, leaping continuously between tree branches in the forest, and soaring in the direction Boyd pointed.
Beneath their feet, the monsters were chasing the two of them like madmen.
Boyd was lifted into the air by Suren. Before he could even be shocked by Suren's skills, he was horrified by what he saw below.
He had never seen these monsters so insane.
Normally, these monsters always act very polite.
Like a lost nobleman, he likes to use words to entice people to open their doors.
Now, the closer the two get to the distant books, the more anxious they become.
Some monsters couldn't even maintain their human form; their arms grew into enormous tentacles, which they used to pull on tree trunks for leverage in their pursuit.
Some of the monsters had split jaws and tongues that moved back and forth across their faces.
Suren leaped among the branches, his light shining like a torch, constantly observing the terrain below.
Finally, he saw a patch of open ground at his feet, with several stones scattered about, stained red by the red liquid.
"That's it!"
Boyd shouted excitedly.
Suren lightly touched the ground with her feet, bringing him to a steady landing.
Beside the red stone, there is a dilapidated thatched hut.
Around the house, there were many scarecrows made of withered grass and wood carvings.
Boyd quickly surveyed his surroundings and pointed to a path behind the thatched hut: "This way!"
Without saying a word, Suren grabbed him and left again.
"jingle"
The night breeze rustled through the treetops, causing the bottles to collide and produce a pleasant sound.
Upon hearing this ethereal voice echoing through the forest, Boyd's body jolted violently.
Pointing ahead, he excitedly shouted, "We're here! It's that tree!"
Suren led him to land in front of the tree.
Beside the tree hollow, several monster corpses, their bodies blasted apart, lay on the ground.
Scattered on the soil nearby were some spent cartridge cases, as well as some mechanical parts and instruments.
Judging from these remaining traces, Nicole must have crawled into the tree hole.
Suren looked at the large tree in front of her, which was covered with glass bottles.
Inside the tree hollow, a faint light flowed, as if connecting to another starry sky.
"How could this happen?"
Boyd's eyes widened in surprise. "When I came here during the day, this was just an ordinary tree hole."
Suren said calmly, "Go in, and make sure to clear your mind. Don't think about anything."
"Otherwise, no one will know where you're sent."
As she spoke, Suren felt the wind behind her.
He didn't turn around; he simply clenched his right hand and waved it behind him.
A flash of light pierced the darkness, cleaving the monster that had attempted to ambush from behind in two.
The foul-smelling entrails and blood were scattered all over the ground.
Boyd swallowed and nodded.
Although he had witnessed the young man cleaving monsters with that exaggeratedly designed sword last night.
But now, seeing the other party kill the monster with just one hand without even turning their head, he was still deeply shocked.
This inhuman reaction and power made him feel that what was standing in front of him was not a person, but a wild beast.
Suren frowned when she saw that he was still in a daze.
He kicked Boyd squarely in the butt, sending him flying into the tree hole.
Then, Suren also crawled into the tree hole.
The faint candlelight cast overlapping shadows on the ground, flickering and swaying with the movement of the flame.
Suren opened his eyes and found himself standing in a dungeon made of yellow earth and rough stones.
The air smelled strongly of excrement.
The dungeon was rectangular in shape, with three rusty shackles hanging on each of the two walls.
Beneath three of the shackles were three gaunt-faced men imprisoned.
To his surprise, the three men were dressed in a way that was not typical of modern people, wearing rough linen blouses and leggings.
Suren looked around the dungeon; it was decorated in a way that was far from modern.
What era has he traveled to through the distant tree?
"Ding-dong-dong————"
A strange melody rang out from a corner of the dungeon.
Suren looked over and saw a crudely made music box placed in the corner.
Inside the box, ballet models twirl to the music.
Just as Suren was examining the music box, the three imprisoned prisoners heard it making a sound.
They wearily raised their heads, and when they saw someone enter, a flicker of fear and despair crossed their eyes.
But when they saw Suren's white, tousled hair and the strangely tailored dark red trench coat she was wearing, the fear in their eyes was instantly replaced by astonishment.
"Who—who are you?"
The middle man, whose beard reached his chest, spoke up, "This strange attire... could it be that you, too, are a demon summoned by those heretics?"
He struggled, the chains on his wrists clanging loudly: "We will never submit to a false god like you! Go back to your hell, monster!"
Suren raised an eyebrow, looking at the three prisoners who were deeply engrossed in their roles, and asked instead, "Where is this?"
"You don't know this place?"
The slightly younger prisoner on the left stared at him warily, his eyes wide.
"This is the dungeon of Roanok, stranger. If you weren't a minion sent by a false god, why would you set foot in this cursed place?"
Roanoke?
Suren frowned; this seemed to be a colony that had vanished into history.
At that time, hundreds of pioneers in the town vanished overnight, leaving no remains or traces of the struggle.
If this really is Roanoke—
Has he been transported to the 16th century?!
What is the connection between this place and Dream Demon Town?
Seeing that Suren remained silent, the bearded man in the middle seemed to notice his difference, and a faint hope ignited in his eyes.
"Stranger from afar, if you are not an accomplice of those madmen—"
He mustered his last breath and pleaded, "Please, please go and save those poor children!"
"What child?"
Suren frowned.
"Those lunatics in town—they plan to sacrifice the children to the devil!"
