Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 014: Preparations Before the Hunt

After filling in the information, the time was set, and we set off early in the morning two days later.

After discussing what they needed to prepare, Loran and the others went home.

However, Lin Wen still wanted to check on Brian's situation, so Loran let her go.

"How much of the money I gave you is left?" Lin Wen asked curiously, patting Brian's head.

"Well, I think I have about a hundred copper coins left. You know Brian has a big appetite, and although I'm already quite strapped for cash... but..."

Lin Wen waved his hand, and two hundred strings of copper coins appeared in his palm. "Take it."

Loran's eyes lit up. "Holy crap, a rich woman! But is he the kind of guy who lives off a woman?"

Of course he would! How could he refuse such timely help? He needed the money to ensure his safety. Besides, he was determined to return it to Lin Wen.

"Oh God, Linwen, thank you, it has made our sincere friendship worthwhile!" Loran sang praisefully.

"Oh, I'm not giving it to you, it's for Brian, hmph." Lin Wen stuck out her tongue and crossed her arms, or rather, she was hugging nothing at all.

Anyway, she turned her face away, then turned and left, "Remember to give Brian something good to eat."

Loran pursed her lips, thinking, "I really don't understand women."

However, now that he has the money, he needs to think about how to avoid that monster tonight? Or rather, how to avoid being attacked by that "Noah".

Another expense looms. Loran calculated the budget and realized that she couldn't afford meat today and would have to eat rye bread instead.

While waiting, Loran didn't sit idle. Although he couldn't gain adventure points or get direct feedback on learning skills, the original Loran's memories were a very precious treasure.

Even now, he still hasn't fully mastered the archery skills of the original owner, Loran. Those skills are the foundation for an ordinary adventurer to survive in the wild. If he can master them, he will be more than capable of protecting himself if he encounters goblins or something.

Loran drew his bow and nocked an arrow, constantly recalling archery techniques. Combined with his already honed instincts, his speed improved rapidly...

Exhausted from practice, Loran took Brian out.

He's probably being watched by a monster right now, and wandering around would be tantamount to suicide, but there's not much he can do about it.

He had to ensure his safety during the hunting commissions, and with a group of righteous adventurers in town, the monster wouldn't dare to be too arrogant.

But things are different once he leaves town. Who will protect him then? Rely on Lin Wen? That guy is more like a snack for monsters!

There's also Noah, who has an eccentric personality and unusually large muscles!

Pierce his muscles with a regular arrow? Perhaps, but that would take enough time for Noah to chop Loran into mincemeat with his greatsword.

Therefore, Lorraine must arm himself so that, at least in special circumstances, he can put up a fight, instead of being a lamb to the slaughter.

But money is a bit tight right now, but it doesn't matter, Loran has connections, so he went to this old man Thompson.

"I'm begging you, you brat, don't come looking for me anymore. I haven't even asked for your money yet, what more do you want from this old man!" Thompson looked at Lorraine with a face full of resentment, as if he had encountered a jinx.

Lorraine, barely able to contain her laughter, forced a friendly expression. "Mr. Thompson, it's nothing really serious, but I'm just in a bit of trouble. Do you have any arrows here?"

"Arrows? Do you have eyes in your ass? This is an antique shop, where am I supposed to find arrows for you? Go away, I don't have any!" Thompson waved his hands repeatedly, ready to shoo him away.

Lorraine quickly stopped Thompson's actions, looking at him with sincere eyes, and said earnestly, "Mr. Thompson, of course I know you're out of arrows, but I think with your knowledge, you must know quite a few master arrow makers, right? Could you... use your connections to help me get a few large ones?"

Thompson stared wide-eyed. He thought he was shameless enough, but he didn't expect there to be someone even more shameless in front of him!

Just as he was about to erupt in anger again, Lorraine took out the skull from his backpack and said very sincerely, "Mr. Thompson, I won't let you suffer any loss. You help me get the arrows, and I'll give you the skull. What do you say?"

Thompson, who was about to unleash a torrent of abuse, froze, blinked, and asked incredulously, "What...did you say?"

I said, "Deliver it."

"call out."

The next moment, the skull was held in Thompson's hands as if it were a treasure. Loran didn't even see his movements clearly. Was this really the speed that an old man should have?

Thompson chuckled, "No problem, no problem. What's our relationship? We're like old friends, despite the age gap. It's just a small matter, I'll take care of it for you!"

Loran's lips twitched. How come this guy's temper changes faster than flipping through a book?

"However, I have one request: I can come to the store anytime to check on the skull," Loran added.

"Of course, of course!" Thompson nodded repeatedly, "provided it isn't sold."

Currently, if Loran wants to improve his combat power in a short period of time, the only way is to spend money on equipment, and the most valuable thing on his body is this skull.

Rather than waiting to unravel the elusive secrets of this skull later, it's better to transform it into real combat power now.

As for the previous scheme of getting something for free? Loran felt that he probably wouldn't get anything good in return by blackmailing the old man, and who knows if he would push the old man too far and do something reckless, so he had no choice but to sell the skull with a heavy heart.

"Come on, tell me, what kind of arrow do you want?" Thompson said with a grin.

"Hmm... let me think, ...

Thompson frowned. What kind of strange request was this? Deadly, yet seemingly not deadly?

"What level of lethality do you want?"

"Probably at the level of instantly killing a bronze-level adventurer."

Thompson's eyes widened. "You little brat, are you trying to kill someone?!"

"Uh, no, I use it for self-defense, really." Loran blinked innocently.

"Tch, I thought you were going to use it to kill people. You have no ambition."

Loran: "...?"

"I think I understand. I'll take you to an old guy; he should have what you need. But let's make this clear beforehand: once you give me this skull, you can't take it back. And don't come looking for me after you sell it."

Thompson reiterated that he didn't want to be tricked by a kid again.

"Yes, yes, I won't go back on my word," Loran said with utmost sincerity.

"Okay, let's go."

And so, Thompson set off with Lorraine, closing the antique shop before leaving and hanging up a "Closed" sign.

After leaving the house, Loran felt like something was missing, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it... so she simply stopped thinking about it.

Brian, who was lying in the antique shop, yawned, squinted and looked around, only to find that there was no one around, and he was all alone in the antique shop.

"Woof?" Brian tilted his head and blinked his big eyes.
