Archer's Adventure Manual
Chapter 033: Life and Two Gold Coins
On the way back to Luoyan Town, Lin Wen and the others chatted and laughed.
Lin Wen picked a mushroom and put it in her backpack. Suddenly, she raised her eyebrows. She saw her hood and cloak, and even her panties!
She immediately realized what was happening and looked at the clothes she was wearing, which seemed to be the simple attire of a villager.
The joy of surviving the ordeal made her overlook this small detail!
"Lorraine, were my clothes soaked by the rain?" Lin Wen looked at Loran questioningly. "Then, who helped me change my clothes?"
Loran felt a chill run down her spine and replied solemnly, "Of course, it was a kind village auntie who helped you change it."
Lin Wen raised his eyelids and stared intently into Luo Lan's eyes.
Lorraine remained unfazed, appearing to be a very upright gentleman.
Lin Wen relaxed, as if he truly believed her, and casually pulled a hoodie from his backpack and handed it to him:
"Luckily, the lady was very thoughtful and even helped me put away my hood. By the way, there was a small silver button sewn inside my hood, which came undone after being soaked in water. Did she tell you that it needed to be mended when she helped me put it away?"
Loran paused for a moment upon hearing this, then stammered instinctively, "Huh? Silver clasp? I think... the auntie mentioned it, saying something about the small button being loose, but I didn't pay much attention at the time..."
Lorraine said vaguely.
"You big liar, I didn't sew any silver buttons into my hat at all," Lin Wen snorted, a blush creeping onto her face.
"Ah...ah, I was dizzy at the time, so I don't really remember clearly. Sigh, I hadn't recovered yet...sigh, my head hurts." Loran looked like she had a headache.
Brian, standing nearby, blinked and muttered to himself, "I saw the owner carry you inside..."
Lorraine jumped in fright and quickly grabbed Brian's muzzle, laughing awkwardly, "This dog's mouth feels pretty good to touch, huh?"
Lin Wen puffed out her cheeks and snorted, "You better not let me catch you, or I'll show you the power of a Shadow Assassin!"
......
After a three-hour trek, Loran and his companions finally returned to the familiar town of Rockfall.
Upon returning to town, Vance led everyone to the Federal Court in Rockfall Town to file a lawsuit against the Adventurers' Guild.
This step is still very necessary because it was the Adventurers' Guild's mistake, and everyone can reasonably demand a lot of compensation.
Next, it's time to submit the task assignment. Everyone still has some wild rabbits, which can be exchanged for copper coins.
Vance also took the lead in negotiating with the Adventurers' Guild.
"The difficulty of this mission was fabricated, resulting in the deaths of several adventurers. According to the Federal Code, the reward should be consistent with the mission level. The difficulty of the three mutant mountain boars is at least at the Iron level."
"Therefore, our original task reward of 200 copper coins per person should be increased to 2 gold coins!"
"As for the rest, I have filed a lawsuit in federal court, and we will proceed with the legal process."
Vance spoke earnestly and seriously at the front desk of the Adventurers' Guild.
The unsuspecting adventurers nearby also gathered around, becoming onlookers and occasionally stirring up trouble.
"Hey, hey, hey, not only have the quest rewards gotten lower lately, but these kinds of accidents are happening all the time. The Adventurers' Guild is getting worse and worse!"
"Those managers of the Adventurers' Guild take our commission from quests, and instead of using it to improve the guild's quests, they spend it all on drinking and having fun. They have no shame whatsoever!"
"Yeah, they've completely lost all sense of shame!"
The survivors who participated in the hunt began to describe the general situation and tragic circumstances of the mission to the adventurers around them.
Before long, the events that happened in Falling Creek Village will spread throughout Falling Rock Town through word of mouth in taverns and among adventurers.
The receptionist at the adventurers' guild's front desk had never seen anything like this before, and she quickly went to contact the higher-ups in the adventurers' guild.
The person in charge of managing the Adventurers' Guild in Rockfall Town was an old man with a white beard, who began to negotiate with Vance.
He pulled Vance to the third floor of the Adventurers' Guild for a private discussion.
After waiting for more than ten minutes, the white-bearded old man arrived at the first floor of the Adventurers' Guild and solemnly announced, "I am deeply sorry for the unexpected difficulty assessment of this mission."
"After investigation by the Adventurers' Guild, this incident did indeed occur. The remaining adventurers all bravely participated and completed this quest. This was our dereliction of duty, and we will distribute the reward to all adventurers as if it were a Black Iron-level quest!"
"And for those adventurers who sacrificed themselves to protect the village, we will ensure their spirits rest in peace, and we will provide their families with adequate compensation!"
"Every adventurer is a hero who maintains world peace with their life!"
Based on the white-bearded old man's sincere attitude and earnest words, the adventurers did not cause any further trouble, and their emotions were temporarily calmed down.
The surviving adventurers had no objection to the quest reward of 2 gold coins, which was indeed a decent amount.
And this is just the beginning. After the subsequent legal proceedings, they will also receive compensation from the Adventurers' Guild.
Next came the reward redemption process. After discussing it, Loran and the others decided to skip the hassle and sell off the small wild boar and all the rabbits.
Many rabbits inevitably got lost in the process, but there were still a lot of them.
The main event was still the mutated mountain boar. Although it wasn't handled by Loran and his team, it did die within Loran's team's territory, so it belonged to their team.
After calculation, the Adventurers' Guild offered 80 silver coins for this wild boar, reasoning that apart from its thick skin, it wasn't anything special, except that it had some research value.
Loran and his companions weren't greedy and felt that enough was enough, so they agreed to the deal.
In the end, everyone exchanged a total of 145 silver coins, which was divided among the three of them, resulting in 48 silver coins per person. The extra copper coins were used to reward Brian.
"Sigh, although I got the gold coins, I can't be happy at all. Many of the adventurers who set off with me are gone forever in Luoxi Village..." Lin Wen said with a face full of frustration.
"Yes, life is precious and cannot be measured by money. Let's make good use of these gold coins to prepare equipment and try our best to prevent such things from happening again."
"I can comfort you," Loran said.
Noah agreed, "Indeed, I plan to use these two gold coins to hire a priest to treat my chronic ailment and prevent those old injuries from affecting my combat ability again. As for equipment, perhaps I can consider iron equipment."
"Okay! Everyone, let's rest and regroup first. We'll meet at the plaza in three days from noon to discuss our upcoming adventure and form our team!"
Lin Wen smiled and said, "Everyone has worked hard, go back and rest!"
"Okay, see you in three days." Noah nodded slightly and left.
Loran glanced at Lin Wen, then waved slightly. "So, I'm leaving too?"
"Hmm? Have you forgotten something?" Lin Wen put his hands behind his back and stared straight at Luo Lan.
Loran hesitated for a moment, but still reluctantly took out five silver coins. "Hey, I don't owe you any money."
Lin Wen took the five silver coins and then stretched out his hand, "You still owe me 30 copper coins."
"You..." Lorraine had no choice but to take out another silver coin. "I don't have any change. You can pay me back."
As a result, Lin Wen took the silver coin, turned around and left, leaving Luo Lan bewildered in the wind.
"Consider the rest as interest."
"Oh, and remember not to mistreat Brian."
"Woof! Goodbye, Sister Linwen!" Brian barked.
"See you later, Brian."
Watching Lin Wen's departing figure, Loran shook her head and smiled helplessly, patting Brian's bottom. "Come on, Brian, let's go get something good to eat today!"
Brian stuck out his tongue. "Is it inside that little wooden house from before?! I've been looking forward to this for so long!"
