Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 124: The Strange Elfin

A minute passed in the blink of an eye. Both Loran and Elfin were blindfolded. Loran felt that everything in front of him had turned pitch black, and he could not see any light at all.

He swallowed hard, and heard the host say "Begin," at which point Loran slowly raised his recurve bow and fired an arrow from the spot he remembered.

"Precision shot!"

The arrow whistled as it struck the target with a crisp sound.

He could hear the gasps of the audience, but he didn't know what they were gasping about, nor did he know how many rings the arrow had hit.

A sense of insecurity crept into his heart...

Throughout the competition, he relied entirely on accurate shooting to reach this level. But now, accurate shooting may not be effective. How many points can he get by shooting blindly based on his feelings?

Loran raised his bow but hesitated to fire a second arrow. His opponent was Elfin, and he figured Elfin would have his own way of solving the problems he faced, but he had never experienced anything like this before.

It was a game he was destined to lose, so he had no reason to hesitate.

Loran raised his bow and arrow again, letting his instincts guide his shot. He could vaguely sense the precise aiming, but it wasn't quite there yet. Vision was still far too important for an archer, or for Loran himself.

The surrounding crowd was noisy, but Loran, standing in the center, paid no attention to it. He drew his arrows one after another and completed the shooting at a moderate pace.

Only after the host said that the blindfold could be removed did Loran slowly remove it and look at the target in front of him.

But the moment Loran saw the target, he was stunned. There were many precise arrows stuck in the bullseye on the target in front of him. At a rough look, there were at least five!

Loran was shocked. How could this be? He had no confidence in hitting the target at all, so why was he in this situation?

But Loran soon noticed something was wrong. He looked at Elfin's target and found that it was completely empty, without a single arrow.

He looked at his target again and finally noticed something.

There are ten arrows in the bullseye of his target, but there are ten arrows scattered around it. The number of arrows on his target is completely wrong!

In other words, all the arrows that hit the bullseye were from Elfin; the guy never intended to hit his own target.

Loran glared angrily at Elfin beside him. "Are you insulting me?"

Elfin, having removed his blindfold, shrugged and asked innocently, "Why do you say that?"

Loran was furious. Fine, this wasn't the first time Elfin had played tricks on him. Since he didn't want to take the competition seriously, let him be. The first-place prize was a real prize anyway.

The host was also a little flustered by this scene. Hearing the enthusiastic cheers from the audience, he composed himself and said loudly in a voice tinged with magic:

"What a thrilling match! It's safe to say that both of you are excellent archers. However, Mr. Elfin may have misjudged the target, hitting all his arrows on the Loran target!"

"Perhaps this was just a minor mistake by Mr. Elfin, but he has indeed missed out on the championship in this competition, and the arrow that hit the target in Lorraine will not count towards his score!"

"And who is the dark horse who performed the best in this competition? Please tell me!" the host shouted passionately.

"Loran! Loran! Loran!"

Just ten minutes ago, the crowd was chanting Erfen's name, but now they've changed it. Lin Wen and the others in the stands no longer need to shout for Loran, because the entire stadium is now chanting his name.

Loran was somewhat stunned, but he couldn't feel happy. Although he hit the target, his shot was crooked and uneven. If it weren't for Elfin shooting in such an insulting way, he wouldn't have had a chance of winning at all. Such a victory was nothing to be proud of.

The host continued enthusiastically, "Yes, our biggest dark horse today! Loran! He came all the way from the preliminaries to finally reach today's competition."

"And in the final blindfolded shooting match, he hit the bullseye ten times in a row! He achieved a perfect score in such a challenging competition! It's truly unbelievable!"

Loran was taken aback. He felt as if he hadn't quite understood what the host was saying, so he reviewed it carefully again.

This confirmed what the host had said: he...his arrows all hit the bullseye? No, that's not right. Shouldn't those arrows have been Noah's own arrows that hit the target by mistake? How could that be!

Loran was certain he couldn't fully utilize precision shooting, and he had no confidence in hitting the bullseye, but... he still managed to hit it?

The discrepancy between reality and reality left Loran momentarily dazed. He looked at his hands, a sense of unfamiliarity washing over him. He... perhaps didn't understand himself at all.

Alfin, standing to the side, tossed his flowing blond hair and chuckled, "I didn't mean to insult you. I just knew I couldn't beat you and wanted to avoid a direct confrontation. You really do impress me."

Loran looked at Elfin, unsure of what to say. In the end, under everyone's watchful eyes, Loran obtained the powerful wind element crystal.

Crystals can grant those with strong minds skills comparable to magic, something many adventurers dream of, let alone powerful crystals.

Now that Loran has obtained this crystal in this lavish aristocratic exhibition match, and through his own strength, his state of mind has turned to joy.

After the archery competition ended, the various facilities on the field were also cleared out in an orderly manner. There were other programs to be presented at the wedding ceremony, so it was clear that Loran would not remain the focus of the crowd.

But he has always been the focus of a certain group of people.

After Lorraine left the field, he saw several of his teammates emerging from it. Brian rushed over first and gave Lorraine a big hug.

He licked Loran's face with his tongue, then squinted and stroked the furry creature.

"Loran! Your performance was absolutely amazing! Did you see that? That arrogant elven ranger didn't even dare to confront you head-on, he just shot at your target instead, it was hilarious!" Lin Wen laughed heartily.

"Loran, your efforts have not been in vain, you did it!"

...

Amidst the cheers and praises, Loran was overjoyed and shared his happiness with his companions.

However, he did not assume that Elfin was necessarily worse than him. He still believed that Elfin had gone easy on him. After all, he possessed magic, and perhaps he was limited by magic, which was why he did so.

Even so, Erfin was able to shoot accurately at his target, even if the targets were scattered, which is something that not everyone can do.

"wrong!"

Loran suddenly remembered the seemingly chaotic arrangement of the arrows...

The four arrows at the top form an arc, the three in the middle are symmetrical to the middle arrow, and the three at the bottom form a shorter arc.

I didn't pay much attention at the time, but now that I think about it carefully...

The more I look at it, the more it looks like a skull pattern!
