Chapter 11 Street Brawl
In the stands, Cedric's pupils contracted.
He had just tried to deflect the force of that attack using his technique, but the terrifying aura made it hard for him to breathe.
Renn didn't dodge, or rather, with his current strength, he couldn't dodge anyway.
Just as the greatsword was about to touch his head, he jerked his sword upwards. But he didn't foolishly try to meet it head-on with the blade; that would be suicide.
The moment his sword made contact, his body subconsciously and subtly tilted to the side slightly.
"clang--!!!"
Sparks flew everywhere.
Due to the impact, two clouds of dust exploded from the sand beneath Ryan's feet, and his knees made a grinding sound, as if the blow had compressed his entire skeleton by an inch.
But he did not fall, nor was he knocked away.
The immense force slid down the sloping spine of the sword, most of it being directed to the empty space on the right side of the body, while the remaining impact traveled along the arms and spine, eventually being channeled into the ground by the legs.
"What a hard bone!"
Karen's eyes lit up with interest.
Instead of retreating, he advanced, using the rebound force of the greatsword's downward strike, he flipped his wrist, and the massive blade drew a small circle as if it had no weight, sweeping across again!
This time, they went straight for Rennes' ribs.
Raine had no time to think; instinct, already ingrained in his muscle memory, took over his body. He pulled his elbow back, lowered his shoulder, and raised his sword to parry.
"Bang!"
Ryan slid half a step to the side, his boots carving two furrows in the sand.
His arms had begun to go numb, his thumbs were split open, and blood seeped out along the hilt of the sword, making it quite slippery.
Twenty seconds.
Thirty seconds.
The entire battle can be described as a one-sided beating.
Sir Karen continued her attacks with her greatsword.
Chop, hook, slash, smash! Each strike utilized momentum and the entire body, fully leveraging the advantages of the two-handed greatsword, with the offensive relentless.
Rennes had no chance to retaliate.
All he could see was the giant sword that kept getting bigger.
Each block felt like ramming into a speeding carriage. My lungs felt like they were on fire, and every breath tasted of rust.
While the Iron Wall Stance improved his defensive skills, it couldn't magically enhance his physical attributes.
Raine's strength was only slightly above that of an adult. Faced with the pressure from the old knight, his muscles were rapidly acidifying, and his reactions were becoming sluggish.
Forty-five seconds.
Karen suddenly changed her tactics.
After a heavy slash, the greatsword did not hold back. Instead, it took a step forward, its broad blade pressing down on Renn's weapon, and then twisted its grip with both hands!
A tremendous spiraling force came.
Renn felt a sharp pain in his hand, and the longsword in his hand almost flew out.
Although he managed to hold on, the impact completely disrupted his balance. His body staggered backward uncontrollably, leaving his chest wide open!
This is a fatal flaw.
"it's over."
Karen remained expressionless as she thrust her greatsword forward, the tip aimed directly at Renn's throat.
At this moment, time seemed to slow down.
As the giant sword drew ever closer, Renn's mind went blank.
Retreat? It's too late.
Block? The center of gravity has been lost.
In his desperate situation, Renn remembered his father's warning, and the despicable instincts of the original owner of this body, who had spent more than a decade on the streets, surged forth.
[Skill: Street Fighting (Beginner)]
Screw parrying! Screw swordsmanship!
Ryan, who was originally backing away, made a move that left everyone in the arena speechless.
Instead of trying to regain his balance, he used the momentum of the fall to quickly hug Sir Karen!
He seemed to deliberately charge towards Karen's sword tip—but at the last moment before contact, Sir Karen was somewhat surprised. After all, this was a contest, not a fight, and he didn't want to cause any deaths in this situation. Therefore, he immediately pulled back the momentum of the greatsword, slowing down the speed at which it was thrust forward.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Raine turned his head to the side, letting the tip of the sword graz his ear, and crashed directly into Karen's arms!
This is a blind spot for long weapons!
"What?!"
Even Karen, a veteran of countless battles, had never seen such a reckless fighting style.
Raine gave the old knight no chance to react. His longsword was too close to swing, but he still had his body.
Headbutt!
"Thump!"
Ryan's forehead slammed into Karen's breastplate.
Although she was dazed and blood was streaming from her forehead, the impact noticeably slowed Karen's movements.
Then came even more despicable tactics.
Raine released his left hand and grabbed the hilt of Karen's greatsword, pressing it down firmly to prevent him from defending.
At the same time, his right knee rose in an extremely insidious manner, aiming at the old knight's fatal spot on the inside of his thigh!
"hiss--"
Karen gasped, instinctively squeezing her legs together and taking a step back.
"It's not over yet!"
With his eyes bloodshot, Ryan took advantage of Karen's moment of retreat, held the longsword upside down in his right hand, and used the metal pommel of the counterweight to smash it towards Karen's wrist!
None of these movements were executed with knightly swordsmanship.
They're all fighting skills that thugs and hooligans have learned by rolling around in the mud.
Dirty, ruthless, shameless!
The other candidates nearby erupted in uproar.
"What is that?!" one examinee gasped, covering his mouth in horror. "He...he actually headbutted me?! That's barbaric! It's an insult to chivalry!"
"Shut up."
Cedric's cold voice broke the surrounding noise.
He stared intently at the disheveled yet fierce figure in the arena, gripping the railing with both hands, remaining silent.
"On a real battlefield, when you lose your balance and distance, that's the only way to survive." Cedric, who had been mocking Renn earlier, now spoke up for him:
"Although... his actions were a bit dirty, it was the will to survive."
In the corner, a girl named Ella stopped playing with her hair and looked at Raine in the center of the sand with great interest.
In the center of the battlefield.
Ryan's flurry of punches caught Karen off guard, forcing the old knight to retreat several steps.
But that's it.
The gap in strength cannot be bridged by a few underhanded tricks.
Sir Karen quickly adjusted her breathing rhythm.
Faced with Renn rushing at him again, he did not use his sword. Instead, he released one hand, and that large hand reached out like an iron clamp, precisely grabbing Renn's wrist as he swung the sword hilt.
Twist it hard.
"Click."
Raine felt a sharp pain in his wrist, and his longsword fell to the ground.
Immediately afterwards, Karen shoved her shoulder at Ryan, and a tremendous force slammed into Ryan's chest, sending him flying and crashing onto the sand two meters away.
Ryan felt a pain as if his internal organs had shifted, but the injury wasn't too serious. He silently dug his fingers into the ground, pretending to struggle to stand up, waiting for Karen to come forward again.
"That's enough!"
Karen gave a low shout, seeing through Ryan's trick.
The greatsword in his hand had been raised again and was hovering in mid-air.
Karen's facial muscles twitched slightly as she watched the young man on the ground, who, despite being knocked away and unarmed, still tried to grab a handful of sand and throw it into his eyes.
That old bastard Linus...
What do you mean by saying the son is weak and incompetent? What do you mean by saying he's hopeless?
This kid is a hundred times better than those fancy but useless young noblemen! This isn't some worthless mud; this is an unpolished obsidian!
Unfortunately, he was still too green. Karen looked at the boy in front of her, took a deep breath, and prepared to give this son of her old friend a final "lesson" to let him know the difference.
Just then.
"Clang—clang—clang—"
Three chimes echoed above Dawn Castle.
