Chapter 104 Matthew's Serious Preparations
Chapter 104 Matthew's Serious Preparations
"This is... outrageous."
The speaker was Apex. He was leaning back on the sofa, holding a can of Red Bull in his hand, his eyes fixed on the screen.
There were only three people in the room: him, mezii, and flameZ. XTQzZz had gone to a coaching meeting, and ropz was off somewhere driving his 911 again.
Before leaving, XTQZZZ said that if zywoo didn't come to watch the game, he would demote him and let Verstappen take his place. I don't know if that's true or not.
"Where's Matthew?" apEX suddenly asked.
flameZ was lying on the sofa next to me, scrolling through his phone without looking up: "Let's play Diablo in the room."
He said he was going to farm some awesome equipment today, but I have no idea.
apEX frowned, but said nothing, and instead focused his attention back on the game.
At that moment, the boy with the ID g0d had just completed an incredible five-kill jump sniper attack. apEX knew that this moment would be etched into the history of CS.
"His positioning was tricky, only showing his scalp. After the kill, he didn't linger, but jumped down. But... I thought he was going to leave, but he's here doing some kind of jump-sniping maneuver? Bro, I don't even know what to say."
When apEX saw Tang Ye jump and snipe like a flying man, it had a huge psychological impact on him.
How could anyone dare to hit someone like that?
As a sniper, retreating to survive after taking down one enemy is definitely the best option. Since you've already completed your first kill and your position has been exposed, staying at the white car position won't give you another chance to repeek and kill, so retreating to look for another opportunity is practically the only option.
However, this kid put on a stunning performance that shocked the world. He executed a historic jump shot on the white car, achieving a five-kill streak, a feat far surpassing Coldzera's legendary feat.
This was a sniper rifle that had been nerfed to only five shots, and Tang actually managed to get a pentakill with those five shots.
This can no longer be simply described as a gifted individual...
mezii leaned closer to the screen and looked at it carefully: "Based on the level he has shown so far, he is definitely a top-level sniper."
"Yes." ApEX nodded. "This guy is terrifying. I feel his talent is no less than Matthew's."
"So?" flameZ sat up from the sofa and shrugged. "His individual skills are indeed very strong, but this is a team game. Our overall strength is obviously higher than theirs, so there's no need to be so alarmed."
apEX turned off the recording, turned to look at flameZ, and said, "We're confirming how we should play if we face him. No dynasty is built in a day, and no dynasty lasts forever."
flameZ opened his mouth as if to say something, but ultimately kept it closed.
He knew apEX was right. The Little Bees were the favorites to win IEM Krakow, but precisely because they were favorites, they couldn't underestimate any opponent, especially a rising dark horse like this.
The dark horse has no burden; losing isn't a loss, winning is a huge bonus, and they might even perform exceptionally well because they have no psychological pressure. The little bee, on the other hand, can't afford to lose.
"So what did you guys figure out?" flameZ lay back down on the sofa, his tone softening.
apEX was silent for a few seconds before speaking: "His reaction speed is truly insane. That jump-sniper five-kill streak—normally, it's already absurd for someone to kill one person with a jump-sniper, but he got five in a row. This isn't something you can practice; it's talent plus luck. If we want to counter him, we can't be stingy with our items, so we must conserve our items when controlling the map in the mid-game, and if necessary, we can give up some non-critical map control."
"Such a detailed analysis," flameZ's voice broke the silence, "Do you guys already consider him our biggest opponent in the next round?"
apEX and mezii exchanged a glance but remained silent.
Because the answer is self-evident.
If TyLoo continues to win, the two teams will meet sooner or later.
By then, G0D will be an enemy they don't want to face, but they will have to.
At the same time, inside zywoo's room.
zywoo sat on a chair by the bed, his laptop on his lap, the screen showing a live stream of TyLoo vs. Liquid.
To his left was a cup of coffee that had gone cold, and to his right was his phone, its screen displaying g0d's player page on HLTV. He had been looking at that page for a long time.
The room was quiet, with only the sound of the narration from the video echoing in the background.
"The liquid's attack is coming, a downpour is imminent, but they are facing g0d's impenetrable defense with his sniper rifle!"
"Siuhy fell first, but Liquid's attack was swift... Oh!!! Noway! gOd used a sniper rifle to jump and snipe Ultimate!!"
"The Liquid members wanted to finish off the attackers, but Feng from B's small unit disagreed! A barrage of fire pushed Liquid's attack back...oh!! g0d, what are you doing? Another jump sniper kill on El iGE!!"
"Liquid's wave has been completely destroyed, but they're still making a desperate last stand! They used utility to kill Feng at B small, but g0d jumped in and sniped Kr imbo again!"
"gOd is burning with lust, but NertZ is still alive! He jumped off the windowsill to find gOd... but luck isn't on his side!!"
"GOD!! An unprecedented five-kill streak!! This moment is destined to be recorded in CS history!!"
zywoo stared blankly at the screen, his fingers unconsciously rubbing together.
He didn't know this person named g0d. Or rather, before today, he only knew this ID, knew that he was a newly promoted youth player from TyLoo, and knew that he led the team to win the ZEM championship.
But that's about it.
Every year, a few prodigies emerge in the global C$ circle, but most of them disappear like shooting stars. Moreover, ZEM is not a top-tier tournament; like other niche and hidden gem competitions, it is basically unknown in the mainstream media.
"Hey Matthew, what are you doing?"
After ropz finished mining a set of diamonds, he logged out of Minecraft and went to zywoo's room, casually shaking the key in his hand. "Want me to take you for a drive? My 911 is pretty fast."
ropz slowly approached, and saw zywoo with his hands clasped in fists, his chin resting on his fists, his eyes fixed on the match between TyLoo and Liquid.
"Good grief, you were secretly watching the livestream behind our backs, huh? I'm ashamed of your cutthroat behavior! You've betrayed Diablo!"
Upon hearing this, zywoo couldn't help but sigh.
"I didn't want to watch this stream, but you know what flameZ said that really angered me. He said that when I'm old and useless, he'll kick me to FAZE to retire and bring in g0d. Isn't that infuriating?"
However, ropz clearly didn't grasp the point: "Oh? FAZE! I know that area well, give me a call if you need anything..."
'
zywoo: "Just kidding, just kidding..." ropz chuckled and scratched his head. "flameZ has been speaking without thinking for a long time, so don't take it to heart. After all, the wisdom of someone who has been wandering for thousands of years is beyond our comprehension, otherwise he wouldn't have become Intel's chief R&D engineer."
At this point, zywoo felt much more at ease.
zywoo turned the screen toward ropz.
"Take a look at this."
ropz's gaze fell on the screen, and after watching the whole thing, his eyes widened suddenly, and he couldn't help but exclaim "0MG!"
What do you think?
ropz shrugged: "How do I see it? I see it with my eyes. To be honest, that pentakill had a lot of luck involved, but he played it so wildly, it was simply exaggerated."
"Hmm." zywoo nodded thoughtfully.
"I watched his previous match against BC. s1mple was completely outmatched." He paused, "Although s1mple's performance has declined, he's not someone anyone can easily dominate."
"I seriously doubt that he can see what I can see too."
"No, what is this?" ropz was dumbfounded.
As the chosen one, zywoo often mutters things he doesn't understand at all, such as the system, stat allocation, and X-ray vision experience cards. He even sometimes lets slip these things during matches, which makes ropz very confused. However, it's clear that the other members of the Bees have gotten used to it.
ropz decided not to delve into the issue and continue watching the game.
After this wave, Liquid was completely on the defensive. Siuhy called a timeout, but ropz could tell that the timeout came too late.
"Liquid's mentality collapsed," ropz commented, his tone devoid of sarcasm, simply stating a fact. "That jump sniper five-kill stunned them."
zywoo didn't speak, he just stared at the screen, with only one thought in his mind.
"Am I not the only chosen one?"
In the footage, Hamburg's command strategy was clear: since they had the superior marksmanship, they should proactively push forward to gather information and prevent Liquid from controlling the map. Tang Ye's sniper rifle moved between VIP and Arch, each time he set up a shot like a knife hanging over Liquid's head.
"Look at his positioning," zywoo suddenly said, tapping the screen with his finger. "He changed positions three times this game: VIP, Arch, and CT spawn. Each position change happened during a gap in the Liquid item usage."
ropz squinted and looked at it carefully.
Indeed. Tang Ye's every repositioning was timed to coincide with the few-second window of opportunity after the liquid had thrown out flashbangs or smoke grenades. It wasn't random; it was calculated.
"His understanding of the game has improved very quickly," ropz said. "Back in ZEM, he could only set up fixed positions, but now he can use items and timing to switch positions."
"Three months," zywoo repeated the number.
ropz paused for a moment.
"Are you anxious?" he asked.
zywoo didn't answer immediately. He watched as Tang Ye once again sniped EliGE, who was trying to reach the archway, in the VIP area before speaking.
"It's not anxiety. It's one."
He paused, as if searching for the right words.
"curious."
"curious?"
"Hmm." zywoo leaned back in his chair, his eyes still glued to the screen. "I want to know how far he can go. He's reached this level in three months, what about six months? A year? What will he be like then?"
ropz didn't answer. Because he was thinking about the same question.
The video shows the last game of the first half. TyLoo won the first map 13-4.
When the score was set, the director switched to Tang Ye's personal statistics.
36/5/4.
ADR for 210.
"A 210 ADR..." ropz's voice was a little hoarse. "Is this what professional gaming looks like?"
zywoo didn't speak. He just stared at the ID on the screen for a long time.
Then zywoo did something ropz hadn't expected. He picked up his phone, opened a video editing app, and started editing highlights of Tang Ye's match.
"What are you doing?" ropz leaned over to take a look.
"Save it," zywoo replied briefly, "for later use."
"What should we use?"
zywoo didn't explain. He cut out that jump-sniper five-kill sequence and saved it in a folder called "Study Materials".
ropz glanced at the folder and found it already contained quite a bit of content. It included Donk's breakthrough highlights, etc.
This is a compilation of mONESY's quick-scoping techniques, and even includes his own clutch plays from his FaZe days.
However, the filename of the newly added one was changed by zywoo to "g0d-watch".
"You created a separate folder for him?" ropz's tone was somewhat subtle.
zywoo remained unfazed: "It's worth it."
"Alright Robin, I'm going to start studying now. You can go for a spin in the 911 by yourself." Zywoo gave him the hint to leave, and before leaving, he also gave Ropz a task: "Tell the coach that I want to eat shrimp. Bring some lobster over, preferably imported from Boston."
"All right."
After ropz left, zywoo immediately started editing the video, and then silently began studying.
All those operational strategies are being etched into his DNA, allowing him to continuously learn and evolve.
Meanwhile, in the TyLoo battle zone.
"pretty!"
The members of Tianlu bumped fists with each other, in a very good mood.
Mo Siyu was the first to jump up from her chair. She turned her head to look behind her before even taking off her headphones. The sound was so loud that even the soundproof wall could barely block it.
"Dude, you got 36 kills! 210 ADR! Do you know what that means?!"
Before Tang could answer, Hamburger burst out laughing.
As the commander, he was all too aware of the significance of this data. It meant that Tang had almost single-handedly taken down more than half of the team's kills, and his stats were higher than the entire Liquid team combined.
"Now I understand." Hamburger's eyes narrowed into slits with a smile. "What does it mean to be an army on your own? All five of them combined couldn't kill as many as you did by yourself."
Ling Feng extended his hand and bumped fists with Tang Ye.
"Well played," Ling Feng said.
Tang smiled and said, "You too."
This isn't just mutual praise. While Tang Ye's stats are impressive, Ling Feng's performance was equally crucial.
11 kills, 7 assists, 3 first kills, and countless crucial follow-up shots. More importantly, his positioning at B short completely blocked Liquid's follow-up shot route, creating the conditions for Tang Ye's jump-sniper five-kill.
It's fair to say that without Ling Feng, that pentakill wouldn't have happened.
Tang had thoroughly enjoyed the fight.
Against a team like Liquid, whose individual skills and tactics are not outstanding, Tang's performance was a complete dimensional reduction, even more ruthless than when he crushed a second-tier team like Shiro.
Zhong Weijie stood at the back, watching the group of young people making a ruckus, and couldn't help but smile.
He was holding the tactics book in his hand, originally planning to say a few words of adjustment during halftime, but now he felt there was nothing to say.
13:4.36 kills. 210 ADR.
What else is there to adjust?
"Alright, alright." Zhong Weijie clapped his hands, drawing everyone's attention. "The match isn't over yet, don't get too excited. Play well on the second map and try to win 2-0. If we make it to the group stage, I'll treat you all to some crayfish!"
