The Blue Knight did not stop.

She flicked the rapier twice, shaking off the remaining blood from the blade, and glanced in the direction from which the white mist was coming.

"The pipeline layer," she said.

Margaret sensed it too.

The pollution, pressing down beneath the white fog, rose up from beneath my feet.

Something was gushing out from somewhere in the pipeline layer. The aura was thick and mixed, much stronger than the ghouls they had just cleared out.

The Blue Knight's steps had changed direction.

Ignoring the scattered ghouls still roaming the streets, she headed straight for the nearest entrance to the pipe network level.

"You follow me," she tossed at Margaret.

The two rushed to the contaminated and collapsed area, where the pipeline layer was already connected underneath.

As you descend into the collapsed area, a stuffy, dry smell rises up, a mixture of burnt and scorched odors.

The lights that were originally lit on the pipeline layer all went out, leaving only a faint glow emanating from the remaining bronze patterns overhead.

The further down you go, the stronger the pollution becomes.

The Blue Knight moved very quickly, the newly grown threads on the back of his cloak swaying gently behind him.

A faint blue light flashed in her eyes, and all her senses were heightened to their maximum.

Several night watchmen leaned against the wall of the passage, mostly half-squatting and half-kneeling. The one closest to them covered his head with his hands, his body trembling uncontrollably, muttering something indistinctly.

His eyes were wide open, with swirling patterns on his pupils, slowly twisting.

The Blue Knight could tell at a glance that these people had been corrupted.

It's not completely out of control yet, but it's not far off.

The newly grown cloak threads on her back spread out from her shoulder blades, branching into several strands that completely enveloped the group of people.

The moment the silk threads touched them, a pale blue light emerged, suppressing the swirling aura emanating from the Night Watchmen and slowing their trembling.

The Blue Knight stepped forward and slapped the nearest Night Watchman twice across the face.

The crisp sound echoed twice in the passageway.

The night watchman's head was slapped to the side, the swirling lines on his eyes suddenly stopped, and his gaze barely returned.

He covered his swollen cheek, looked up and saw the Blue Knight standing in front of him with a murderous aura, his armor still stained with ghoul blood. He was stunned for a long time before he reacted.

"Blue...Blue Knight?"

The Blue Knight didn't answer. She glanced at the remaining people to make sure they wouldn't go berserk for the time being, then her gaze returned to the Night Watchman's face.

"Where's your captain?"

The night watchman's expression changed. He struggled to stand up, but found himself bound by silk threads and unable to move.

"The captain is still down there! He told us to evacuate first, and he's all inside alone! Hurry and rescue him, he can't hold on much longer!"

The Blue Knight didn't ask any further questions; she turned and glanced at Margaret.

Margaret frowned; she also sensed something deeper in the passage.

The pollution was so intense that even her superhuman abilities triggered an automatic warning; every inch of her skin was telling her to turn back.

"Your supernatural abilities haven't fully recovered yet," the Blue Knight said calmly. "Take them and retreat. Wait for me at the entrance."

Margaret opened her mouth, intending to say that she could still do it, but she swallowed the words back.

Blue Knight is right. The hard battle in the abyss was too exhausting, and she can't handle the second round in her current condition.

More importantly, there are already subtle signs of change in her approach.

"Don't follow me down," the Blue Knight added.

She didn't look at Margaret again, and turned to walk deeper into the passage.

The sound of footsteps echoed in the sweltering air, quickly swallowed by the darkness.

Margaret stood there watching her figure disappear.

The pale blue light emanating from the silk threads still flickered slightly, but the Blue Knight was no longer there. These threads were clearly left behind by her and could sustain them for a while.

"Let's go." Margaret bent down and pulled up the nearest Night's Watchman. "Those who can walk, walk on your own; those who can't, I'll carry them."

Deeper into the pipeline layer.

The Blue Knight walked down alone, and the surrounding light grew dimmer and dimmer.

The oil lamps that had been hanging at intervals all went out, and the bronze patterns above her head gradually disappeared into darkness, leaving only the faint blue light emanating from her body.

The smell of burning in the air was so strong it was pungent.

She passed several sections of blown-open pipe walls, where bronze and stone were mixed together in the cross-section, the breaks were jagged, and unused explosives were scattered nearby.

There was a gap like this at intervals, the edges of which were charred black, and the remnants of flames were still smoking.

These were delaying measures left behind by that Night's Watch squad. They blew up sections of the pipe wall and then set them on fire, using this most rudimentary method to slow the spread of the inscription.

The Blue Knight understood the intention.

The walls of the pipeline layer are made of a mixture of bronze and stone, with strange inscriptions spreading along the bronze. Breaking the bronze would cut off its path.

However, the distance between these gaps is getting shorter and shorter, indicating that the inscriptions are spreading faster, making it increasingly difficult for the Night Watchers to delay.

After passing the last gap, the walls on both sides of the passage suddenly changed.

The original texture, which showed alternating patterns of bronze and stone, is now completely covered by a rotating inscription.

The inscriptions were embedded in the wall surface, rotating in circles, each arc sweeping towards her.

The Blue Knight slowed his pace.

Her extraordinary abilities were triggering a frantic warning; every thread in her body was stretched to its limit, and an intense sense of repulsion emanated from within her armor, as if something was desperately trying to burrow into her body.

The world before her eyes shifted slightly as the inscriptions rotated, her vision blurred for a moment, and a buzzing sound filled her mind.

She gritted her teeth, and the threads binding her body suddenly tightened, forcefully pushing back the invading force.

The deviation in front of me stopped, and my vision stabilized again.

The passage ahead seemed to have no end, with swirling inscriptions covering the ceiling and floor, becoming denser the deeper one went, leaving no gaps.

At the corner of the passage, the Blue Knight saw that person.

The third-tier captain knelt in the middle of the passage, one hand supporting himself on the ground, the other hand clutching a mithril bottle.

The exposed flesh of his arms, from wrists to elbows, was rotating, twisting and turning, making a soft creaking sound.

Blood seeped from the twisted opening, but he seemed oblivious, his eyes fixed on the deeper part of the passage, the swirling patterns floating on his pupils.

His lips were moving, but the sound was so faint it was almost inaudible.

The Blue Knight took a few steps closer before he could barely hear him.

"...We can't let them spread any further, absolutely not..."

The voice paused for a moment, then another sentence drifted out.

"...No, why is there light down there..."

The person has started talking nonsense.

The Blue Knight's gaze darkened, and he said nothing more.

The rapier was drawn, and a scarlet sword aura swept across, slicing off chunks of flesh that were twisting and turning on his two arms.

The captain grunted and swayed slightly. The Blue Knight then reached out with his right hand and slapped him on the back of the head.

The captain rolled his eyes, the swirling patterns on his face shattered, and he went limp.

The Blue Knight reached out and hoisted him onto his shoulder.

She glanced back at the deeper passageway.

The rotating inscriptions continued to spread outwards, slowly but without stopping for a moment.

As the inscriptions passed the spot where the captain had been kneeling, they suddenly sped up and surged toward her.

The Blue Knight did not linger in battle.

Carrying the person, they rushed back the way they came without looking back.

He rushed through the blown-out gaps and the charred, still-smoking sections of the river, and ran all the way to where Margaret and the others were.

Margaret was crouching down next to several Night's Watchmen when she saw the Blue Knight carrying people back, and she immediately went to greet him.

The Blue Knight lowered the captain from his shoulder and placed him on the ground.

The captain had already passed out. Large chunks of flesh had been cut off from both arms, but the exposed sections weren't bleeding much.

"That thing down there is a bit strange," the Blue Knight's voice was somewhat deep. "Leave these people here for now; you can keep an eye on them, or take them back to the entrance, it's up to you."

Margaret looked at her. "Are you still going down?"

The Blue Knight nodded and sheathed his rapier back into its scabbard.

"I need to go see what that thing is."

Margaret stared at her for a couple of moments, then didn't stop her.

The Blue Knight walked deeper into the passage.

This time, she walked a little slower than before.

The silk threads on her body were pulled back and pressed tightly against the armor, wrapped around her body layer by layer, sealing her completely.

A faint blue light appeared in her eyes, shining brightly in the dark passageway.

"Is this the disaster the Grand Knight Commander foretold...?"

Her voice was very soft, and after speaking, she shook her head.

Regardless of whether it is true or not, she's here, so we have to find out.

The Blue Knight's figure flickered at the corner of the passage, and the next moment, he disappeared into the depths of darkness.

When Klaus rushed out of the branch office, Lu Yuan was already following behind him.

Before Glock could even reach the door, Klaus had already left him several steps behind.

Klaus didn't turn around to say anything, and led Lu Yuan straight towards the pipeline layer, where a layer of bone armor had already formed on his chest.

The situation outside was even worse than what they had heard in the main hall.

The thick white fog no longer just clung to the ground, but completely enveloped the outer city.

The houses in the distance were blurred into mere outlines, and even the bronze oil lamps in front of the branch office only illuminated a small area.

The howls of the giant ghouls came from the fog, their directions indistinct, making it impossible to discern how many there were.

Klaus paused for a moment.

Lu Yuan saw his head tilt slightly, his eyes scanning the thick fog around him, his brows furrowed tightly.

The fog had diminished most of his senses, as Lu Yuan could tell.

The gray and white text at the edge of Lu Yuan's vision hadn't stopped since the moment he left the branch.

Environmental sensors detected a continuous increase in pollution concentration...
