I can see experience bars after being transported to another world.

The group continued moving forward.

As the light shone, more and more holes were drilled, and the walls on both sides of the mine were badly damaged.

How do we mine from here?

Just as he was sighing, suddenly, a soft sound came from the deepest part of the place.

"Crack."

It looked like something had bumped into the coal.

Everyone stopped at the same time.

The miner's lamp pierced the darkness, its eerie blue light illuminating what lay ahead, but deeper still, it remained pitch black.

"Clang clang".

The sound was getting closer.

At the edge of Lu Yuan's field of vision, gray and white text suddenly appeared.

[A strange presence has been detected approaching...]

coming.

The next instant, a huge object flashed past through a hole on the right.

The thing was so fast that the old man didn't even have time to react. He only saw a black, shiny object flash past, disappear into the hole on the other side, and vanish.

But Lu Yuan saw it.

It was something made of shiny black coal.

Between the coal lumps, soft, grayish-white flesh was squeezed. Its torso was stretched out, like a large worm.

At the head position, there was something that looked like a human face.

Grayish-white text then appeared, popping up line by line.

[Target detected: Heat Eater (Primary Form)]

A newly born, peculiar entity is accumulating heat in an attempt to complete its first metamorphosis. It feeds on heat and is attracted to heat sources.

[Weakness: Cold.]

Lu Yuan completely ignored the word "cold".

It's completely unnecessary. On the contrary, this line of text explains why the mine is so cold and damp.

At the same time, he also understood why this thing hadn't attacked his group immediately.

The cold lamps they carried suppressed their body temperature to some extent, preventing the heat-devourers deep in the mine from noticing them immediately.

That would be a bit of a shame.

However, Lu Yuan had already come up with a way to deal with it.

"Let's go first."

The old man was stunned: "Huh?"

"I know what it is now," Lu Yuan said, turning his head. "I have a way to deal with it."

The Blue Knight looked at him: "What do you know?"

"Let's talk outside."

"Alright." The Blue Knight nodded and said nothing more.

The old man was completely bewildered. He looked at Lu Yuan, who had already turned around, and then at the Blue Knight who had followed him away. Finally, he gritted his teeth.

"Okay, I'll do as you say."

As soon as the three left the mine, the night watchmen and townspeople guarding the barricades immediately surrounded them.

"Captain, is it resolved?"

"Not yet," the old man said.

He was just about to explain when Lu Yuan took over the conversation.

"There's no solution here yet," Lu Yuan added, "but I already have a way to deal with it."

He looked around.

"Now, immediately prepare things that can generate heat, such as firewood and coal, the more the better."

Right here at the cave entrance, I need to create the largest possible heat source.

The group looked at each other, momentarily confused as to what had happened.

The old man was the first to react: "What are you standing there for? Captain Lu said to order, so let's order!"

The town may lack other things, but it has an abundance of coal.

It's more than enough to create at least one heat source.

The night watchman immediately realized what was happening and beckoned the two burly men to leave.

After a while, with the help of a series of small vehicles, a small hill of coal mixed with firewood was built on the open ground in front of the mine.

Firewood was arranged around the outside, stuffed with tinder to ignite it; coal was piled next to and on top of the wood, supported by a frame, forming a makeshift heat source.

Flames ignited. First the firewood was lit, and then the coal, which had been dried out for a long time, gradually turned red. Waves of heat rose and spread in all directions, baking the late autumn night.

The Blue Knight, sword in hand, glanced at the bonfire before him and then at Lu Yuan.

"Can you speak now?"

"That thing is called a Heat Eater." Lu Yuan stared at the cave entrance. "I read about it in a book before. It's a strange creature that lives deep underground and feeds on the heat from living things. Once it has absorbed enough heat, it will undergo a metamorphosis."

"It probably came out because it was about to undergo its first transformation, and the heat underground wasn't enough. The frost at the wellhead is because it absorbed all the heat sources that could be absorbed underground. The miners' disappearances are also due to it."

"However, compared to the heat source generated underground, the heat source on the living creature's body is its real food. So the missing people were all eaten by it."

"We've lit a fire here, and there are so many people around. It can't possibly hold back," Lu Yuan said. "When it pounces, just take it down."

The Blue Knight nodded.

Lu Yuan added again, "Its rank is not high."

"Because it hasn't completed its first metamorphosis yet, dealing with it should be quite simple."

"Alright, leave it to me." The Blue Knight said nothing more.

The fire crackled and popped, the firewood popped and banged, and clumps of coal were ignited.

Everyone was gathered around the fire, their faces flushed from the firelight.

The fire dispelled the chill from the darkness, for now, it was dark.

The onlookers were somewhat confused, not quite understanding why they would use such a small amount of coal and firewood to light such a large fire.

The old man also looked a little nervous, but he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Lu Yuan's calm demeanor.

The Night's Watch has a code of conduct for mutual assistance. Since Lu Yuan is willing to help, he must have his own methods.

Time passed little by little.

When the coal was fully ignited, there was a jolt underfoot. Before anyone could react, a section of land at the mine entrance was completely bulged up, rocks crumbled, and a muffled thud came from deep underground, causing the earth to shake violently.

The townspeople who were watching were so frightened that they backed away.

The next moment, something darted out from deep within the collapsed mine entrance.

The black, shiny coal-fired shell gleamed eerily in the firelight.

The gaps between the coal lumps were covered by soft, grayish-white flesh that bulged outwards.

Its torso is elongated, like an insect, without limbs, and in the place of its head is a human face.

The Blue Knight moved the instant it lunged at the flames.

No one could see how she made her move.

A light blue thread flashed above the firelight, and the sword light fell with a muffled thud, pinning the object to the nearby rock wall.

The piercing point was precisely where the rock-like outer shell connected to the flesh inside.

The heat-devourer writhed wildly.

Coal husks scraped against the rock face, sending debris flying, and the human face opened and closed silently.

The Blue Knight stepped forward, flicked his wrist, and with a few quick strokes, sliced it open along the seam of the shell.

That sturdy outer armor was of no use to the Blue Knight.

The outer shell was sliced open, revealing the ghastly white flesh beneath. The longsword pierced through, and the twisting gradually ceased.

This is the latest chapter.
