Courtyard House: My Time Travel is a Bit Too Strong
Chapter 649 Promotion to Associate Senior, Displaying Divine Skill
After being diagnosed, the patient was directly admitted to the special care ward. Acupuncture was performed once a day, and herbal decoction was given twice a day, morning and evening. On the third day, the patient began to eat liquid food, and on the seventh day, the patient was able to walk slowly with support.
As the list of discharged patients continued to grow, Lin Quan once again stood at the door of the dean's office.
The new employee badge was pinned to his chest, the words "Associate Chief Physician" gleaming.
Hospital regulations stipulate that each person with a senior professional title or above must have their own office. He Jianyi and Liu Huimin routinely see patients in a large office, not because they are unqualified, but simply because they are used to seeing patients in groups.
Lin Quan pushed open the door, lit a cigarette, and exhaled a puff of bluish-white smoke... The window was a good spot, so the ash would dissipate easily.
There were no no-smoking signs in the office. Lin Quan glanced at it and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
"Dr. Lin, I'm truly impressed." Jiang Xiaoqi's tone was heartfelt. She had never seen a patient with a comminuted fracture recover so quickly, with the cast removed and the patient discharged after only a month.
The appointment was finalized two weeks ago.
"Let's take down the rich." Zhang snorted.
"How about Director He treats us today, and Director Lin treats us tomorrow?" Qiao Na casually suggested.
"I'll raise my hand," Wang Ziqiao immediately responded.
"So what if I get stabbed? I accept it." He Jianyi grinned.
Liu Huimin remained somber after failing to become the director.
Jiang Xiaoqi didn't react much... She had only been at the hospital for a month.
Lin Quan remained calm and didn't care much about whether he would be promoted or not.
There are two things that are indispensable behind a patient's promotion from attending physician to associate senior physician: the hospital director's approval and a patient's family member's personal visit to express their gratitude.
That evening, He Jianyi hosted a hot pot dinner, and Liu Huimin also attended.
The next evening, it was Lin Quan's turn to treat everyone, and Liu Huimin attended as usual.
My phone rang halfway through the meal.
Lin Quan got up, paid the bill, and drove straight to the hospital.
A gas leak caused an explosion at a hot pot restaurant in the western part of the city, injuring about a dozen people, most of whom suffered burns.
"Director Lin, please take a look, is there any hope for this person?" Jiang Xiaoqi stood by the bed, her voice filled with urgency.
"The method is ready." Lin Quan took out silver needles, wiped them with alcohol swabs, and inserted them into the key acupoints one by one.
"He rushed in, but the child was completely unknown to him," Wang Ziqiao said in a low voice.
"The person won't die, and the skin and flesh will heal," Lin Quan said confidently.
"What's the next step?" Jiang Xiaoqi asked.
Lin Quan filled out the prescription and asked the nurse to pick up the medicine from the Traditional Chinese Medicine department.
The topical ointment is specially formulated, making burn healing relatively easy; the internal decoction is adjusted according to the individual's constitution, supplemented by acupuncture to strengthen the body's foundation. After about half a month, it's enough time to get back on the ground and walk.
If it were any other doctor, the chances of this person surviving would be less than 10%.
"Director Lin, can it really be cured?" Jiang Xiaoqi asked again to confirm.
"I know what I'm doing." Before he finished speaking, he added, "Medical expenses, pay my bill."
"This is inappropriate," Wang Ziqiao frowned.
"They risked their lives to save a stranger, so what's a little money to me?" Lin Quan said calmly.
"You're the director, you make the decision." Wang Ziqiao didn't stop her anymore.
He had been at the hospital for less than 30 days, and this was the second time he had paid for a medical appointment out of his own pocket... The last time was for a migrant worker with severe tetanus who was so broke that he couldn't even afford the registration fee.
This time it was even simpler: a man suffered second-degree burns all over his body, charred black, while trying to pull a little girl out of a fire.
Lin Quan doesn't lack this money.
Hospitals are not relief centers; medicine needs to be purchased, beds need to be occupied, and manpower needs to be allocated. The relief fund process is lengthy and involves a lot of paperwork; by the time it is approved, the patient has already been delayed.
He personally prepared the ointment and watched the nurse apply it; then he drew the warmed medicinal soup into a syringe and pushed it little by little for the patient to swallow.
Less than half an hour later, a young woman rushed into the emergency room, her fingers still covered in flour... she had just been kneading dough at the noodle shop.
"He's fine, we can just postpone the wedding by about twenty days," Lin Quan said.
"Thank you, Dr. Lin!" Luo Chunhua's eyes were red and her voice trembled.
Lin Quan waved his hand, went back to his office, lit a cigarette, leaned back in his chair, and exhaled a puff of white smoke.
On the morning of the third day, during rounds, the patient was able to sit up while holding onto the edge of the bed.
After the examination, Lin Quan nodded and said, "The recovery is going well. Change the dressing every three days from now on."
That morning, the hospital director led a woman into the emergency department.
"Everyone, this is Xiao Yan..."
Lin Quan looked up, his gaze lingering for half a second.
...Xiao Yan? The new deputy director of the emergency department?
...It really was her.
...Shouldn't she have gone to Tongshan Hospital? How did she end up here?
The thought flashed through his mind, but he didn't show it on his face.
"Senior sister." Xiao Yan extended her hand, her smile bright.
"Junior sister," Jiang Xiaoqi replied with a smile.
"Are you familiar with each other?" He Jianyi interjected.
"My junior from a foreign medical school is an all-rounder, much better than me," Jiang Xiaoqi said frankly.
"Director Lin, I've heard so much about you." Xiao Yan reached out his hand.
"Director Xiao, hello." Lin Quan shook hands, his palm slightly cool and his grip just right.
"My senior told me that since you joined the hospital, you've been able to handle all the patients, no matter how serious or unusual their condition." She didn't let go of his hand, her eyes fixed on him without blinking.
"I just happened to come across a disease that I could treat," Lin Quan answered lightly, withdrawing his hand as he did so. "Just lucky."
"It's my treat tonight, everyone please don't refuse," Xiao Yan said, turning to the crowd.
"Another dinner party?" Wang Ziqiao chuckled.
"Every meal saved is a meal saved." Tian Liang smiled, his eyes crinkling with wrinkles.
Zhang Leng and Sun Meng remained silent, their faces bearing smiles, but their eyes slightly averted.
Liu Huimin was scheduled for the night shift and missed dinner.
"Director Lin, could you please take my junior sister with you?" Jiang Xiaoqi nodded to Lin Quan.
"It's on my way," Lin Quan replied readily.
After Xiao Yan finished paying the bill, she smiled at him and said, "Thank you for your trouble, Dr. Lin."
"Get in the car." Lin Quan opened the car door and walked around to the driver's seat.
"What does Dr. Lin's family do?" Xiao Yan asked.
"I grew up in an orphanage, so I wasn't too unlucky," Lin Quan replied.
A dozen minutes later, the car stopped at the main gate of the residential complex. Xiao Yan said, "This is fine, I'm here."
"Which building do you live in?" Lin Quan asked.
"Why are you asking this?" Xiao Yan frowned slightly.
"I live here too," Lin Quan said directly.
"Don't tell me you live in Building 3." Xiao Yan's tone was somewhat probing.
"Building 9, 27th floor, Room 3," Lin Quan reported clearly.
"Room 3, 27th floor, Building 9?" Xiao Yan paused for a moment.
"What?" Lin Quan turned to look at her.
"How long have you stayed?" Xiao Yan didn't answer the question, but asked instead.
"More than a month," Lin Quan said truthfully.
"I'm staying in room number two," Xiao Yan said, then pushed open the door and got out of the car.
The car drove into the underground parking garage, and the two took the elevator to the 27th floor.
"See you tomorrow, Director Xiao," Lin Quan said.
"Director Lin, what time do you usually leave home?" Xiao Yan asked.
"Seven o'clock," Lin Quan replied.
"Can I get a ride to my workplace? I just got back to the city and haven't picked up my car yet," Xiao Yan asked directly.
"Okay." Lin Quan nodded.
I took a hot shower when I got home, then practiced the Yi Jin Jing, Duan Gu Jing, and Xi Sui Jing for a while, rinsed off again, lay down and fell asleep, and slept until 6:30 in the morning.
After a quick wash and change of clothes, I went outside and stood in the hallway to wait.
A few minutes later, Xiao Yan came out of room number two, saw him, and was slightly taken aback: "Director Lin, were you waiting for me here?"
"Mm," Lin Quan replied.
"Why didn't you knock?" she asked.
