Courtyard House: My Time Travel is a Bit Too Strong
Chapter 711 Fake Laura Dies
Laura didn't move. Lin Quan stepped forward, stuck his sword into the crevice, took out a cigarette case, shook it out, and lit it. As the flame leaped up, he exhaled a puff of white smoke.
Amanda's people surrounded her.
Laura moved.
A left fist slammed into the first man's chin; the second man was sent flying by a knee strike before he could even raise his elbow; the third man's wrist was dislocated by a twist before he could even hold his gun steady. Before the cigarette was even half-burnt, all six men were sprawled on the ground, breathing heavily, none of them able to stand.
Amanda leaned against the doorframe, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth: "Your mother is still alive. She's in Avalon."
"Really?" Laura stepped in front of her.
"Really." Amanda nodded.
Lin Quan remained silent. Avalon was the land of the elves; humans who entered faced only three paths: death, survival, or expulsion. Amanda had never been there, had never even seen a map, so what made her so certain that people were there? When the teleportation array was activated, only the Nepal Stone Altar lit up once… that was the only exit.
Laura's mother disappeared from there.
"Let's go." Laura grabbed her backpack, turned around, and left.
She couldn't bear to see Amanda fall again. If Lin Quan intervened, there would only be a few more immobile bodies on the ground.
Back at Croft Estate, Laura turned the study upside down. Notes piled up on the long table, maps covered the floor, and coffee was replaced repeatedly as it grew cold.
Lin Quan went to work as usual, attending meetings, signing documents, and answering the phone. During her lunch break, she would casually flip through a couple of pages of handwritten files. In the evening, she would lean back on the sofa, leaving Shen Huimin and the others to handle the verification, communication, and coordination.
In his spare time, he doesn't force himself to work out; he lies down when he needs to, gets a massage when he needs to, and laughs when he needs to.
"Lola, come here." Lin Quan tapped the open notebook.
She walked quickly over, her hair still damp with moisture.
"Your father once wrote a line... 'Avalon is not in the sky, nor in books, but deep in the Mediterranean.'" Lin Quan's fingertip stopped on a line of faded writing.
"When are we leaving?"
"the day after tomorrow."
"Okay, I'll have people prepare the ship, adjust the equipment, and replenish the supplies."
The Mediterranean Sea spans 2.5 million square kilometers and is characterized by large waves, rapid currents, and numerous reefs.
After dinner, the hot soup was finished, the bathtub was filled, and Laura, Connie, Shen Huixian, and Hailey were already soaking in the water. Lin Quan sat down wrapped in a bath towel, surrounded by steam and laughter.
Exploration is not about gambling with your life, but about taking each step firmly.
After taking a bath, he slept soundly until dawn.
Laura woke up at four in the morning and made three satellite phone calls to check on the ship's status, the progress of the submersible's maintenance, and the latest weather forecast.
Seeing that Hailey and the others hesitated several times before speaking, Lin Quan looked up and asked, "Want to go too?"
"Yes," Hayley, Tina, and Sophia responded in unison.
"Then let's do it together."
The convoy drove out of the manor gates the following morning.
The ship awaited them at the mouth of the Mediterranean Sea. The day of departure was calm, and the sea was bathed in a pale gold hue.
On the morning of the seventh day at sea, Lin Quan and Laura put on their diving suits and went diving again.
They patrolled underwater for forty minutes, their flashlights sweeping over the keel of the sunken ship, the concrete blocks covered with coral, the broken oil pipeline... finally stopping in front of a sloping basalt wall.
The reliefs on the wall were blurred by the water, but the outlines were still there... An archway with guards holding spears on both sides, and in the center of the lintel, there was a star-patterned disc that was exactly the same as the pendant on Laura's necklace.
"A statue of Thor?" Laura stood in the center of the ruins, her gaze fixed on the stone statue.
Lin Quan squatted in the corner and picked up a leather glove: "This should be it."
Lin Quan stood up and casually tossed the glove. It traced an arc before landing steadily in her palm.
Less than half a day after they left the shore, Amanda and her men surrounded them, their target clear... to steal their gloves.
Lin Quan didn't say much. He raised his gun, aimed, and fired, his movements as fluid as breathing.
One fell, and the second had just raised his arm when the bullet pierced his throat.
In less than ten seconds, the ground was covered with motionless people.
Amanda knelt in the gravel, her hands raised high, her voice strained: "Don't shoot! I have intelligence!"
She led the way, and they met Natra again.
Lin Quan placed his hand on the holster and used his thumb to open the latch.
The last time I went to find Priest Ang, it was Natra who sent men to ambush and kill me on the way.
Their eyes met, and he subtly raised the gun muzzle.
Natra immediately spoke up: "Thor's other gauntlet is in Rhodes Island. Only the hammer can open the entrance to Avalon. Where is the hammer... I really don't know."
He stared into Lin Quan's eyes: "I'll keep my promise to exchange intelligence for life."
Lin Quan loosened the holster and lowered his hand.
"Let's go." Laura turned and walked outside.
Lin Quan followed.
In his eyes, Amanda and Natra were indeed no more important than roadside pebbles. Crushing them was easy, but if he promised not to kill them, he wouldn't.
Letting them go this time doesn't mean they'll be spared next time.
The plane landed in Romania, and the two headed straight for the old mining area indicated by the clues.
After searching for more than half a month, they finally stood in front of the ruins of a collapsed church.
"The map is burned, and the gloves aren't here either." Lin Quan kicked away a piece of broken brick at his feet.
Laura stared at the three blurry letters on the broken wall and suddenly stopped.
"What came to mind?"
"Go back." She said, and then walked down the mountain.
In the underground crypt of Croft Manor, a wisp of dust rose as the iron door was pushed open.
Laura hurried across the stone steps, while Lin Quan leaned against the doorframe waiting for her to come out.
"Found it?"
"My father retrieved it years ago." She opened her palm, the other glove lying quietly in her hand. Beside it lay a yellowed hand-drawn map... the locations of Thor's belt and Mjolnir were clearly marked.
"Where to go next?" Lin Quan asked.
Laura didn't answer, but simply folded the map and stuffed it into a compartment of her backpack. The last place her mother was seen before she disappeared was marked next to where the hammer was. She slung her bag over her shoulder, her movements swift and decisive.
After two days of rest, we set off.
They camped on a barren slope that night. Laura pitched a tent, while Linquan went into the woods to gather firewood.
When he returned, he saw a woman walking towards him in the distance... the same height, the same profile, even the habit of slightly hunching his left shoulder when walking was exactly the same.
Laura doesn't have twins. People who look exactly alike are rare indeed.
"Lin, I've found something interesting," the woman called out, her smile natural.
"What?" Lin Quan responded, his steps unwavering, a smile on his face.
She reached out to grab his wrist, but Lin Quan turned sideways, grabbed her forearm, and twisted it. Before she could react, she fell backward into the bushes.
"Who sent you?"
"I am Laura." She tilted her head back, her eyes calm.
Lin Quan didn't let go, instead gripping her neck tightly. The grip wasn't strong, but it was enough to make her gasp for breath: "Say it again?"
Zhen Laura practices traditional Chinese martial arts, which gives her abundant qi and blood, solid muscles and bones, and a sense of weight in every movement.
This person looks similar, but you can tell he's just a pushover once you touch him.
He dragged her toward the camp.
Gunshots rang out suddenly.
