"The further we go, the more it will feel like climbing a mountain of knives... The next breakthrough may not be for another seven or eight years."

He shook his head to refresh himself, and then practiced Xingyi Five Elements Fist for half a year.

"We only have a little over three thousand star coins left in the account, we need to find a way to survive quickly."

"I'm twenty-three, and this body hasn't even earned me a high school diploma..."

He pushed open the wooden door of the boxing gym, walked onto the street, and looked at the job postings as he went.

"Hey buddy, can I borrow some money?" A dark-skinned young man stepped in front of him and blocked his way.

Two other young men of the same skin color stood on either side of her, their eyes filled with hostility.

"I have no money," Lin Quan shook his head.

It wasn't fear, but rather a clear understanding that... these people were most likely carrying guns.

"Search." The leader waved his hand.

Lin Quan raised an eyebrow, no longer backing down.

His left fist, like a cannonball, slammed into the chest of the young man on the left, sending him flying. He then turned and delivered a powerful punch to the second man's chin, causing him to groan and fall to his knees. He then swept a whip kick across the third man's knee, sending him sprawling backward.

The three had just caught their breath when he beat and kicked them hard again, leaving them curled up on the ground groaning.

He turned and left, deliberately taking detours through alleys. After more than ten minutes, he arrived at the street corner and leaned against the wall to watch the commotion.

"Hands up! Kneel down!" A police officer from the Star Nation was yelling at a middle-aged man.

The real-life Xingguo is similar to Haizhou, always disheartening.

Sure enough, the police shouted twice and then fired a burst of bullets.

The magazine was empty, and the man fell into a pool of blood, motionless.

Lin Quan continued to sway forward, his eyes scanning the signs along the street, looking for a suitable job.

The pay is too low? I won't do it.

Too long a working time? No thanks.

Can't get the job done? No way.

For half a month straight, I ran around until my legs were about to give out, but I still couldn't find anything suitable.

"A man won't get rich without making a fortune, and a horse won't get fat without eating night grass... The bold get full, while the timid starve."

The thought had barely formed in his mind when eight dark-skinned youths surrounded him, their approach menacing.

"Ha, the revenge has arrived."

He chuckled inwardly, but didn't stop, charging straight at the person.

He knocked one down with a single punch, but a short stick hit his back, which only fueled his anger... He struck even faster and with greater force.

In less than half a minute, all eight of them were lying on the ground, clutching their arms and legs and howling.

"Brother, you've got real skills." A middle-aged man strolled over, clapping his hands twice with a smile.

"Chinese Kung Fu," Lin Quan replied with a smile, wiping his hands.

"Do you want to get rich?" the man asked.

"Of course I want to," he answered readily.

"Come with me."

In Singapore, money is the passport.

In the Star Kingdom, you can be immoral and impolite, but you can't be short of money.

"My name is Bani, nice to meet you." The man extended his hand.

"Lin Quan, a local Chinese." He shook hands with him; his palm was warm.

"I'll introduce you to some acquaintances later," Bani said.

A moment later, the two turned into a tattoo shop.

Several men sat or stood in the shop, the smell of cigarettes mingling with the scent of ink.

Lin Quan glanced at them: Bani, Christmas, Yin Yang... and Caesar sitting in the corner with a cold face.

A thought flickered in his mind: "A suicide squad?"

Bani looked around and patted Lin Quan on the shoulder: "Guys, this is Lin... He took down three people with his bare hands the first time, five the second time, and just now, eight of them came at him at once, and he still lay flat on his back."

"Hello." Yin Yang grinned and extended his hand first.

Lin Quan shook hands with each of them; his knuckles were hard and his palms were rough.

"Gonna's gone, the team's short of a spot. Lin's skills are good enough," Bani said.

"I have no objection." Yin Yang nodded.

"I agree." Christmas stubbed out his cigarette and gestured with his chin toward Lin Quan.

"Lin, how's your shooting?" Yin Yang asked.

"I've never touched it," Lin Quan replied.

"These past few days, I've been teaching Lin how to use a gun, step by step," Bani said calmly, as if he were talking about something perfectly ordinary.

"Thanks." Lin Quan nodded, his words few but deep.

After finishing their drinks and finishing their conversation, they went their separate ways.

The next morning, Lin Quan arrived at the shooting range on time. Bani was already standing there, his holster open, holding an old-fashioned pistol in his hand.

Bani, the captain of the suicide squad, relies on his gun, especially his short gun, which he uses quickly, accurately, and steadily without any feints.

Bani taught him meticulously, and he learned quickly. After a week, he hit the bullseye ten times out of ten on a stationary target at fifty meters, with the bullet holes overlapping in the same hole. After practicing with an assault rifle for a few more days, he could close his eyes, aim for three seconds, and pull the trigger at a target three hundred meters away, hitting the bullseye every time.

"Lin, remember this... you owe me five thousand star coins," Barney said as he sheathed his gun.

"Okay," Lin Quan replied readily. He knew the rules: bullets cost money, and shooting lessons also cost money.

Back at the Expendables training ground, he sparred with Yin Yang, practiced with Christmas, and occasionally got wrestled by Caesar. As the days went by, his combat reflexes became faster and his movements more ruthless.

In gunfights, he couldn't match Christmas's cunning, Caesar's composure, or Barney's masterful skill; but in close combat, with fists and feet clashing, no one in the entire suicide squad could last more than ten seconds. Not to mention melee weapons... knives, clubs, daggers—once he made a move, his opponent couldn't even manage a second strike.

Overwhelming in strength and crushing in speed, he fights like a leopard that has stormed into a flock of sheep, silent and deadly with a single blow.

That morning, Bani summoned everyone to the open space.

"A new job has come in." He glanced around. "It's a job for a 'church'."

Christmas immediately chimed in, "Captain, I'll go with you."

Bani looked at Lin Quan: "Lin, you're coming with me to do the reconnaissance."

"Yes!" Lin Quan's voice wasn't loud, but it was firm and clear.

Joining a suicide squad is like putting your life on the line. You can hide for a while, but you can't hide forever. Rather than waiting to be cornered in an alley and shot, it's better to toughen up and build up your courage now.

In this place, in this planetary kingdom... someone might pull out a gun while you're eating, you might hear a door being banged on while you're asleep, and you might run into an armed patrol team just by turning a corner. Danger isn't an option; it's a daily occurrence.

The next day, just as dawn broke, Lin Quan boarded the plane with Bani. Christmas sat in the cockpit; Bani sometimes flew, but this time it was Christmas's turn to steer.

The plane landed on Vilanna Island. Lin Quan didn't say a word the whole way, only staring at the rolling clouds and the approaching coastline outside the window.

This island is under Garza's control. Monroe, a former CIA agent, has long been aligned with Garza.

The mission was given by the "Church"... that code name sounds like a prayer, but it's a dangerous business. The reward is five million star coins. If they succeed, Lin Quan, who just joined the team, will get about two hundred thousand.

After their identities were verified at the dock, the three walked through the humid streets and entered a restaurant. After waiting for more than ten minutes, Sandra pushed open the door and came in. She was wearing a leather jacket that accentuated her sharp waistline, and her eyes swept around before settling on Barney's face.

I got into a peeling pickup truck and drove towards the outskirts of the city. As soon as the truck came to a stop, a truck full of soldiers screeched to a halt, and seven or eight gun barrels were pointed at me.

Lin Quan's Adam's apple bobbed, and his palms were slightly damp.

The next second, a flash of cold light... the Christmas dagger pierced the forehead of the person at the front.
