Courtyard House: My Time Travel is a Bit Too Strong

Workers with itchy throats and cravings for extra food gradually gathered around.

They're giving away braised eggs for the opening, only 50 cents each. It's such a bargain, who wouldn't grab one?

His six months of hard work paid off... His braised goose was incredibly fragrant, chewy, and had a savory, sweet aftertaste.

Those cigarettes and alcohol weren't wasted; several teachers privately taught him a few more tricks.

He combined recipes from different chefs, adjusting and experimenting repeatedly, until he finally created a braising liquid that satisfied him.

We're all reborn, no one's foolish enough to reveal all their secrets.

What he gained in exchange for a few packs of cigarettes and a few bottles of wine was not a secret recipe, but a barrier to entry; he understood this, and the teachers understood it even better.

As lunchtime approaches, more and more people are asking for extra food.

If one person can't finish half a goose, then three or two people will share it.

On construction sites, skilled workers earn two to three hundred yuan a day, while unskilled workers earn eighty or ninety yuan; in factories, most people earn around one thousand yuan a month, with better-paid workers earning a little over two thousand.

A whole goose costs around 100 yuan, and half a goose is only about 50 yuan... It's worth the money for an extra meal.

Before 12:30, all ten braised geese were sold out; and only a few braised eggs, which cost one yuan for two, were left.

"Eggs cost two cents each, but they're sold for five cents; they're even more sought after than braised geese."

Lin Quan took out his phone and immediately placed an order: twenty geese and three hundred eggs.

We got another big freezer... We'll stuff all the leftovers from today, the ones that haven't been braised yet, into it so we can use them tomorrow.

"More people order extra food in the evening, so we recommend a six-yuan set meal, which might be more to their liking."

The goose was thoroughly cooked and soaked, and people started arriving shortly after 5 p.m.

"Boss, do you still have braised goose for six yuan a serving?"

"That's all, a little over three ounces, price unchanged, still eighteen per catty."

"One serving of braised goose, and two eggs, please."

Ten geese were emptied, leaving only three of the one hundred braised eggs.

After sweeping the floor and wiping the countertop, Lin Quan pulled down the roller shutter.

He went out for a bowl of rice with toppings, returned to his little room, sat on the bed, took out a stack of banknotes, and counted them one by one, a smile playing on his lips.

"Two thousand one hundred and thirty-four... Selling twenty geese, the cost of fresh geese is one thousand five hundred and fifty, plus eighty braised eggs, the cost is sixteen, rent is deducted thirty-five, water, electricity, gas and seasonings are fifty, net profit is a little over five hundred?"

"More than 500 a day, that's 15,000 a month. It's still more practical to open a shop and do business."

After taking a shower, I lay down and slept soundly until the alarm rang.

Around 5 a.m., he brought in 30 braised geese and about 200 eggs, and got busy again.

Just after seven o'clock, Lin Quan closed the shop and went out to buy a freezer and a huge stainless steel bucket.

That bucket can hold ten geese. Business is booming; let's stock up and make more money.

The key to braising is soaking, not boiling. It's 30% braising and 70% soaking.

Before 11 a.m., people came to buy braised goose.

"Boss, your braised goose is really delicious, but it's a bit too salty."

"Okay, I'll use less salt next time."

He smiled and agreed, but he had no intention of changing his mind.

Everyone has different tastes; some people like salty food, while others prefer bland food.

If you're selective in what you do, you'll naturally miss some people.

If you keep adjusting the flavor, even your regular customers won't recognize it anymore, and your business will only get thinner and thinner.

The logic is simple: even instant noodles have their spicy and sauerkraut fans, so how can everyone have a taste?

Lin Quan understood clearly... as long as it sells, he won't do anything.

When customers offer suggestions, just listen; whether or not to follow them is another matter.

All twenty braised geese prepared this morning were sold out.

Six yuan a serving, enough for one person to have a little something to eat.

Many people bought half a bird, and even more bought a whole bird; very few bought the whole bird.

In the afternoon, as usual, he prepared another thirty braised geese.

If we don't have enough fresh geese, we just make a phone call to the supplier, and they deliver them within half an hour.

The profit margin for one pound of braised goose is about three yuan and six jiao, and one goose weighs about six jin after braising.

He picked out three, chopped them into pieces, mixed them with seasoning, and then soaked them in the sauce.

Before five o'clock, the workers on the night shift started arriving at the factory one after another.

The food at the factory is better during the day than at night.

Those who work in the office during the day shift eat in the cafeteria; those on the night shift, with only a few team leaders remaining, have their meals reduced as well.

The food is terrible during the day, and although the day shift workers may not say it, they're already cursing it in their hearts.

The workers kept quiet, but the others weren't so patient.

Even reborn people need to eat. No capital, can't work independently, what to do? Go to a factory.

Knowing what will happen in the next nineteen years, and you can get rich overnight? Absolutely not.

You know, and I know... those who need to clock in still need to clock in.

It's been almost nine months since I was reborn, and all the quick ways to make money have been trampled out.

If one thing is pulled, the whole situation will be affected, let alone hundreds of millions of people going back to twenty years ago.

The earliest stock market investors made a fortune by relying on their memories;

Someone has registered song titles, trademarks, and GG phrases that rightfully belong to others;

Many people bought shares in Baidu, Tencent, and Alibaba.

Many people are also wondering: Can these companies still become a force to be reckoned with?

Technical skills? The skills you have from 2020, what you can do, others can do too.

"I've held such and such a position at such and such a company, and I've done such and such projects..." I'm tired of hearing this.

The battle to recruit talent lasted for more than three months, and then it gradually subsided.

People who were originally slated to join Baidu, Tencent, or Alibaba were poached by other companies with higher salaries.

The core of TSMC's original chip production lines in Taiwan has also been poached by several new factories.

Some people who should have only failed years or even decades later stopped their actions prematurely.

Originally, he was about to be dragged into the spy's scheme, but instead, he reported the spy.

Some of the cases that were originally unavoidable were solved by the suspects being caught on the spot, while others turned themselves in.

Those who planned to go abroad to enjoy a comfortable life paid their taxes decisively and decided to stay and not leave.

Is the air sweeter or the freedom greater abroad? They had already experienced it before their rebirth.

More than eight months have passed, and most people have found their place; the rest have accepted their fate.

At 7 p.m., Lin Quan locked the door and swept the floor. He then went into the restaurant next to the internet cafe and ordered a twice-cooked pork rice bowl.

That shop is open from 10 a.m. to 2 or 3 a.m.

Back at his lodgings, he kept turning up the corners of his mouth as he counted the money.

Today we sold fifty braised geese and over two hundred braised eggs.

"Five thousand five hundred and twenty-one... The cost of the goose was three thousand eight hundred and fifty, the eggs cost forty or so, and after deducting one hundred for seasonings, utilities, and miscellaneous expenses, the net profit was a little over one thousand five hundred?"

A live goose weighs around nine pounds, but after braising, it only weighs about six pounds.

Don't underestimate this small difference; when it comes to money, it adds up to quite a bit.

Braised goose costs 18 yuan per catty, so one tael is 1.8 yuan.

If you keep an extra ounce or two per pound, you can earn about ten yuan more per goose.

Fifty a day, the difference is more than five hundred.

"Everyone says you can make half the profit from braised vegetables, but I'm barely making a third."

"Frozen geese are much cheaper. If we switch to using frozen geese, the profit margin might actually reach 50%."

Lin Quan gave up the idea of buying frozen geese and decided to only buy fresh geese from now on. Any geese that weren't used up would be put directly into the freezer and used again the next day.

After taking a hot shower and changing his clothes, he took out his phone and dialed a number.

"Uncle Li, one hundred fresh geese tomorrow, the sooner the better."

"I'll be at your shop at 5:30 sharp. I'll make five extra braised pork pieces; it'll be my treat tomorrow night."

"Okay, I'll save it for you."

"Is there anything else we need?"

"One pound of scallions, one pound of fragrant fruit..."

"I've noted it down. I'll send them over together tomorrow morning."
