The Martial Soul Skeleton, in Douluo Continent's Bone-Changing Susanoo

Chapter 17 Teacher Mo

The following evening.

Soul Hunter Forest, Core Area.

A clearing in the forest.

Teacher Mo is drying the washed clothes in front of the fire.

It is said that starting a fire is an extremely dangerous act, not only in forests, but in any place where spirit beasts live.

The smoke from the fire would reveal their location and attract the attention of some Soul Masters and Soul Beasts.

However, this is a man-made Soul Hunting Forest, with patrol teams on duty 24 hours a day. In addition, Teacher Mo himself is strong enough, so he doesn't need to worry about that much.

After drying his own clothes, Teacher Mo then put Xia Liang's clothes on the fire to dry.

After tonight, it will be the sixth day since we entered the Soul Hunter Forest, but we still haven't found any trace of the Netherworld Bear.

Teacher Mo didn't complain about anything. After all, when he worked in a mercenary group before, it once took him three whole months to find a soul beast that his employer liked.

Compared to this, six days is a short time.

Finding your ideal soul beast requires a certain amount of luck.

At this moment, a ball of dark purple ghost fire slowly drifted down from the sky and landed on Xia Liang's shoulder.

After ending his meditation and opening his eyes, Xia Liang listened to the voice conveyed by the black and purple ghost fire through the power of his soul, and a look of surprise appeared in his eyes.

"Have you found it?" Teacher Mo asked.

Xia Liang smiled and nodded.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go. We can't let our prey get away."

As he spoke, Teacher Mo extinguished the fire and, without even having time to pack up the tent, followed Xia Liang and ran towards the dark path ahead.

About five minutes later.

The two arrived near a lake.

The lake shore is lined with dense forests.

A black bear with golden eyes was lying on the trunk of a large tree, seemingly about to do something.

Xia Liang and Teacher Mo hid behind two big trees, peeking out to spy on the black bear's every move from twenty meters away.

The lake reflects the light of the stars and moon, making it possible to see in the surrounding darkness.

Xia Liang clearly saw that the black bear, lying prone on the tree trunk, was preparing to dig for honey from its hole. A large number of bees swarmed around the bear, their piercing buzzing filling the air.

Some bees raised their stingers and frantically attacked the black bear.

Unexpectedly, the black bear's hide was too thick, and it completely ignored the bee stings, focusing instead on digging out the honey from the tree hole and then putting it into its mouth.

Three minutes later.

The black bear had already eaten all the honey in the tree hole and turned to glare angrily at the swarm of bees that were stinging its back.

Suddenly, the black bear raised its two thick arms and let out a deafening roar.

Roar--

The bees circling around its body were all killed by the rolling sound waves generated by the roar; some bees fell to the ground with their bodies torn to pieces.

Xia Liang and Teacher Mo, who were hiding behind two big trees, covered their ears with their hands almost simultaneously. Although they were twenty meters apart, when the black bear roared, it was like a bomb exploding next to their ears. Their eardrums vibrated violently, as if they were about to be torn apart.

Judging from its roar alone, this black bear is definitely a power-type soul beast.

That roar had such a domineering shockwave because it was enhanced by soul power.

Just as the black bear turned around, Xia Liang and Teacher Mo both saw the two white crisscrossing patterns on the black bear's chest, which was the unique fur feature of the Netherworld Ghost Bear.

The Netherworld Bear, with a century of cultivation, has two crisscrossing patterns on its chest that are predominantly white.

A thousand years of cultivation is represented by a dark gray color.

The Netherworld Ghost Bear, with its ten thousand years of cultivation, will have its only markings change from dark gray to completely black. At that time, the Netherworld Ghost Bear's entire body will also turn pure black, without a trace of other colors.

The soul beast manuscript given by Yu Xiaogang records that the Netherworld Ghost Bear, with ten thousand years of cultivation, has evolved into a king's bloodline. The terrifying power of its paws can touch the realm of death, which can increase the lethality of each attack.

The crisscross pattern on the ghost bear in front of me is predominantly white, clearly indicating that it has only a hundred years of cultivation.

Two stripes extend diagonally downwards from one of the shoulders to the abdomen. Judging from the length and color of the stripes, this Netherworld Ghost Bear has at least five hundred years of cultivation.

"Teacher Mo, I want it." Xia Liang said in a low voice.

Upon hearing this, Teacher Mo was somewhat surprised. Before he could refute, the Netherworld Bear, twenty meters away, had already cast a fierce glance at him.

Having been exposed prematurely, Teacher Mo tried to draw all the hostility to himself, so he walked out from behind the big tree and stood ten meters away from the Netherworld Ghost Bear.

"Ah Liang. We'll talk about this later. I'll subdue this Netherworld Bear first. You need to stay hidden and keep the Skeleton Martial Soul's rib defense active at all times to avoid being accidentally injured."

The moment the sound disappeared, a resounding bird song suddenly rang out.

A phantom-like eagle, its body crackling with blue lightning, appeared behind Teacher Mo.

With its wings imbued with the aura of lightning, the Thunder Eagle spread out to the sides, making it appear even larger than the five-meter-tall Netherworld Bear.

Thunder Eagle, that is precisely Teacher Mo's martial spirit.

The moment his martial spirit appeared, his three spirit rings—white, yellow, and purple—were already rotating around his body, shimmering with dazzling light.

roar----

Faced with the oppressive aura created by the Thunder Eagle Martial Soul, the Netherworld Ghost Bear roared and stretched out its two thick arms to pounce on Teacher Mo.

However, when the three spirit rings appeared, the Netherworld Ghost Bear immediately abandoned the idea and instead noticed Xia Liang, who had just activated his rib defense and was hiding behind Teacher Mo.

Bullying the weak is not only the norm in the world of Soul Masters, but also an instinctive reaction ingrained in the genes of Soul Beasts.

With another roar, the Netherworld Bear used the rolling sound waves as propulsion, its massive body surging forward, miraculously brushing past Teacher Mo like a ghost, and lunging towards Xia Liang's location.

Teacher Mo clearly hadn't expected this Netherworld Bear to be so decisive. Knowing it was no match for the bear, it neither fled nor fought, but instead targeted the weaker individuals.

All of this happened so suddenly.

All of Xia Liang's knowledge about spirit beasts came from books. This was the first time in his life that he had ever dealt with a spirit beast. Faced with the sudden attack of the Netherworld Ghost Bear, he was stunned in place as if suppressed by a force.

Is this domineering power the soul energy of the Netherworld Ghost Bear?

Logically speaking, only ten-thousand-year-old soul beasts gain intelligence, so how come this Netherworld Ghost Bear seems to possess human thinking abilities and is actually thinking of picking on the weak first?

As the massive black bear pounced, Xia Liang was still in a daze. Fortunately, he had already covered his entire body with the ribs of his Skeleton Martial Soul, so even if he didn't have time to dodge, he could ensure that he wouldn't be killed by a single blow.

At that moment, a bolt of azure lightning flashed forth.

When Xia Liang came to his senses, what appeared in his field of vision was not the paw of the Netherworld Ghost Bear, but the back of Teacher Mo.

At this moment, Teacher Mo had already completed the Thunder Eagle Possession, and the eagle claws wrapped in lightning were colliding with the bear paw swung out by the Netherworld Ghost Bear.

Besides its astonishing strength, the Netherworld Bear also possesses outstanding defensive capabilities. The combined effect of its strength and defense allows its paws to withstand Teacher Mo's lightning eagle claws for a short period of time.
