Journey to the West: Upon seeing the Yellow-Eyebrowed Demon, why not pay homage?

Chapter 143 Manjushri, you've forgotten your roots!

A short while later.

Sun Wukong arrived with the spirit of King Wuji. Upon hearing that the prince had also died, King Wuji immediately wept bitterly, then knelt before the gods, kowtowing frantically and begging them to help him.

Xuandu raised his right hand and used his divine energy to help the king's soul up, then relayed Manjushri's words to him again.

After hearing this, King Wuji trembled with rage and pointed at Manjushri, saying, "Have you no shame?"

Manjushri's gaze was icy, his voice sharp: "Insolence!"

"I'm already dead, what do I have to be afraid of being unrestrained for now? I'll be unrestrained for once today."

King Wuji said angrily, "When you entered the palace, I treated you well, but you made things difficult for me in every way."

One minute they complain that the food isn't tasty, the next they complain that the place isn't right, then they complain that the people serving them aren't satisfactory—in short, they find fault with everything.

"This kind of despicable behavior, in your mouth, has become a simple verbal attack?"

In fact, if you hadn't kept provoking me, why would I have plunged you into the Imperial River?

You can investigate this yourself; since I ascended the throne, only this person has received the privilege of being submerged in water.

Also, don't use tests as an excuse. Just because you put a test in the name doesn't mean you can bully others with impunity.

Moreover, if it weren't for the arrival of the Tripitaka Master and others, it's hard to say whether there would even be this so-called three-year sentence.

In fact, if it weren't for the arrival of those immortals and gods, who knows how many more evil deeds that lion monster would have committed!

Manjushri's lips twitched.

Despite his eloquence, under the questioning of the aggrieved party and the watchful eyes of the gods, he could no longer forcefully distort the truth.

Xuandu sighed and said, "I would like to add that this lion-like monster came to seek revenge as a Taoist."

If I hadn't used the mantra talisman as a threat, Manjushri Bodhisattva wouldn't have appeared, and this lion-like monster would have remained silent and even died inexplicably. Wouldn't outsiders see this as a shameless scoundrel emerging from the Taoist sect?

Manjushri, what are your true intentions?

Manjushri was quite troubled and could only explain, "I never expected him to come as a Taoist priest."

The lion-like monster immediately chimed in, "I didn't think that much at the time. I was just too guilty to disguise myself as a monk. I had absolutely no intention of using this to smear the Taoist sect."

"You two are trying to cover things up by singing in unison?"

Xuan Du coldly said, "If we choose to let this matter pass by lightly today, where will the prestige of the Daoist sect be, and where will the dignity of the sect be?"

In the future, will people from all walks of life, including those from the three religions and nine schools, as well as evil sects, turn into Taoist immortals if they want to do bad things?

Anyway, there are no consequences, and Taoist immortals are weak and easy to bully, so it doesn't matter if they're fake.

The impact of such widespread behavior is enough to shake the entire Taoist tradition. Do you think this is a minor matter?

Manjushri gasped, utterly astonished: "Brother Dao, you flatter me!"

"Manjushri, you claim to be the wisest in the Western Paradise, don't tell me you didn't think of this." Xuandu didn't try to prove himself at all, but continued to label him.

Manjushri felt a chill run down his spine: "You're making a mountain out of a molehill, you're exaggerating."

"You're pretending to be ignorant when you know the truth, and your intentions are despicable. Manjushri, you've probably forgotten that you were once a member of the Daoist sect. Now that you've become the so-called head of the Four Great Bodhisattvas, you've forgotten your roots!" Xuandu said indifferently.

Back then, seeing that the rise of Western religions was unstoppable, in order to divide the fortunes of Western religions, a group of Taoist masters switched from Taoism to Buddhism.

Otherwise, if the two Western Saints can give those Taoist immortals a bright future, why can't the two Eastern Saints?

Can the resources that the two Western Saints can provide surpass those of Laozi and the Heavenly Venerable?

But no one expected that the two Western saints would take the great wisdom of "giving and receiving" to the extreme, directly transforming the Western religion into Buddhism, and handing over the power directly to this group of people who had converted from Taoism to Buddhism.

This is why the spies who infiltrated the Buddhist community became the rulers of the Buddhist community, and their mentality underwent a huge change, leading to constant underhanded actions.

The Taoist leadership has repeatedly shown leniency in this matter, hoping that they will not forget their roots and will remember where their origins lie.

Until the Buddha, in accordance with the will of Heaven, conspired with Guanyin to plan the westward journey of the Tripitaka and the eastward spread of Buddhism—a timeless strategic move.

Influenced by Laozi and the Investiture of the Gods, the Taoist sect dared not go against the will of Heaven, but this did not mean that they would passively accept their fate.

Among those who refused to submit to their fate, Xuan Du was their backbone and pillar.

This is also the main reason why he helped Huang Mei and went all out to attack Wen Shu!

If they continue to back down, once the journey to the West is over, the Buddhist community will truly be able to hog them.

There is competition even among those who are in the same sect, let alone now that they are no longer in the same sect!

At this moment.

Faced with Xuandu's accusation of forgetting his roots, Manjushri's face flushed red and then turned pale with embarrassment. Finally, enraged, he coldly questioned, "Enough! If you want to condemn someone, you can always find a pretext. Grand Master Xuandu, what exactly do you want?"

Xuandu calmly said, "I want you and this lion-like monster to disintegrate your divine bodies together, reincarnate, and start anew, as an example for others."

Compared to the shady dealings you two, master and servant, have done, my request isn't unreasonable, is it?"

Manjushri:

"————"

Not excessive?

Isn't this excessive?!

Once one's divine body is destroyed and one is reincarnated to cultivate again, it is essentially equivalent to giving up everything now and starting all over again. In the process of cultivation, not only will countless rare and precious materials be consumed, but even without the cultivation environment of the past, it is hard to say whether one can still cultivate to the current level.

After all, the overall environment weakens over time, and it gets worse every day.

"No, absolutely not."

In the ensuing silence, the lion-like monster roared, "Regardless of any hidden reasons, just because a pair of mortal father and son died, you want a Bodhisattva to be reincarnated and start anew? How absurd!"

"What you're saying is absurd."

Xuandu said, "Who proposed the equality of all beings? Wasn't it your Buddhist sect? What, now that the blame has fallen on yourselves, you're even denying your core doctrines?"

The lion-like monster was speechless.

Manjushri was equally at a loss for words.

At that very moment, rays of Buddhist light suddenly shone in the western sky, and chants of Zen hymns resounded, instantly startling all the gods.

Xuan Du narrowed his eyes and looked westward along with the other gods.

Five hundred Arhats led the way, guiding a benevolent-faced golden Buddha, followed by three thousand Jieti gods, a truly magnificent sight.

Originally, the Taoist gods were numerous and powerful, but when this golden Buddha arrived, he immediately suppressed their momentum simply by showing his superior numbers.

Turning around and catching sight of the golden Buddha, Manjushri secretly breathed a sigh of relief and bowed respectfully: "Greetings, Buddha!"

Xuandu looked up at Tathagata and said indifferently, "Tathagata, you are standing higher and higher."

The Buddha shook his head, then transformed into a golden ray of light and descended directly to Manjushri's side: "Master, even if Manjushri has made mistakes, they do not deserve to die."

Xuan Du said, "I didn't let him die."

"What's the difference between being reborn after death and dying once?"

The Buddha said, "Manjushri has gone through countless hardships and dangers to finally attain the enlightenment he has today. We must not let all his previous efforts be wasted because of the lives of two people."

How about this? I will confer the titles of Arhat on both father and son in Buddhism.

In this way, it becomes merely an Arhat's tribulation of enlightenment.
