Special forces soldier demobilization: Starting from the county government compound, a meteoric rise
Chapter 202: Office Assignment? Give me a storage room?
ten minutes.
In just ten minutes.
The square-faced man who had been so domineering at the card table instantly transformed into a highly efficient typewriter under the intimidation of Liu Ming's "Provincial Party Committee Organization Department" authority.
Stamping, filing, and data entry into the system.
In a flurry of activity, Liu Ming's onboarding process was miraculously completed at 9:59 AM.
"Director Liu... your paperwork is done." The square-faced man wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, handed the documents back to Liu Ming with both hands, his smile more like a grimace. "Um... office director Qian Deming is waiting for you on the fourth floor. He'll be in charge of arranging an office for you."
Liu Ming took the documents, didn't say a word, and turned to walk out of the smoky office.
He knew very well that the three guys in the personnel department were just pawns being used as pawns; the real trouble was yet to come.
Fourth floor, office.
Qian Deming was a thin, balding old man in his fifties with thinning hair. He was one of Luo Binwang's most loyal lackeys at the National Development and Reform Commission, and the mastermind behind this "show of force" operation against Liu Ming.
Seeing Liu Ming push open the door and enter, Qian Deming didn't get up, not even raising his eyelids. He simply held a newspaper in his hand and slowly said, "Deputy Director Liu, is that right? Welcome to the Provincial Development and Reform Commission. However, our commission is currently facing a shortage of office space. Several senior deputy directors haven't been reassigned yet, so you, the newcomer, will have to make do for now."
As he spoke, he tossed a bunch of dusty keys out of the drawer.
"Room 418 is at the end of the fourth-floor corridor. It's quiet there, suitable for a young person like you to think things through. Go there."
Liu Ming glanced at the bunch of keys, a playful smile curving her lips.
He didn't say anything, picked up the key, and turned to walk towards the end of the corridor.
The doors to the other offices, all bearing the sign "Deputy Director," were quietly ajar. Several pairs of eyes peered out from behind the doors, watching this "newborn calf" with schadenfreude.
They were all waiting to see the joke.
Room 418.
Pushing open the wooden door, which creaked loudly due to years of disrepair, a strong musty smell mixed with the pungent odor of dust hit me.
Liu Ming stood at the door, looking at the scene before her, and couldn't help but let out a cold laugh.
This is hardly the office of a deputy director-level official.
This is clearly an abandoned storage room!
The small, dark room, less than fifteen square meters in size, didn't even have a window, and the walls were peeling so badly they looked like they had a skin disease. The room was filled with broken computer towers, chairs with broken legs, yellowed old newspapers, and even a few cardboard boxes in the corner that smelled strange and contained unknown contents.
There's not even a place to put your feet, let alone work.
"Is this how the Provincial Development and Reform Commission treats its guests?"
Liu Ming shook her head. Instead of flying into a rage as the voyeurs had expected, she took out her phone and dialed a number.
"Hey, tank."
"Boss! What are the instructions?" came the excited growl from the other end of the phone.
"Bring a few brothers to the fourth floor of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, room 418," Liu Ming said calmly. "Bring cleaning tools too."
"Huh? Cleaning tools?" Tank paused, taken aback. "Boss, aren't we going to cause trouble?"
"Smashing this up is too rude." Liu Ming looked at the pile of garbage, her eyes gradually turning cold. "We're here to do a thorough cleaning."
Less than ten minutes.
A series of heavy, orderly footsteps echoed down the corridor.
Under the horrified gazes of the deputy directors, five men dressed in black training uniforms, as strong as bears, rushed up to the fourth floor like a black whirlwind.
The tanks were leading the way.
He ignored the stunned officials in the corridor, walked straight to the door of room 418, saluted Liu Ming, and said, "Boss! The 'Cleaning Team' is assembled! Please give instructions!"
Five minutes.
Liu Ming pointed to the clutter in the room, her tone as calm as if she were giving an order for something trivial.
"Empty this room for me."
"yes!"
The next five minutes were a double shock to the cadres on the fourth floor of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, both visually and aurally.
Those five burly men in black were like five tireless bulldozers!
A discarded computer mainframe?
Tank lifted two tanks with one hand and threw them like sandbags directly from the stairwell window into the garbage truck downstairs!
Tables and chairs with broken legs?
The lone wolf kicked it to pieces, bundled it up along with the moldy old newspapers, and transported it away smoothly.
Those government officials who usually consider themselves elites have never seen anything like this before. They huddled in their offices, looking at this group of "cleaners" who were even more ferocious than gangsters, too scared to even breathe.
Is this the legendary "Number One Ruthless Man in Ningzhou"?
Is moving an office such a social phenomenon?
Only four and a half minutes.
The previously cramped storage room has been completely emptied.
Not only was it empty, but even the stains on the floor were cleaned up by the poison doctor with some unknown chemical agent, leaving a faint smell of disinfectant in the air.
"Boss, it's all done!" Tank dusted off his hands and grinned.
Liu Ming nodded and walked into the empty room, where its true nature could finally be seen.
He looked around, his gaze suddenly landing on a dusty, dilapidated safe in the corner that hadn't been moved.
That was just now hidden at the bottom by a pile of old newspapers.
"Ghost Hand." Liu Ming waved.
"clear!"
Ghost Hand pushed up his glasses, took out a thin metal wire from his backpack, and gently fiddled with it a few times in the mechanical lock of the safe.
"Click".
In less than ten seconds, the safe door, which was touted as having an extremely high level of security, opened with a click.
There was no gold or silver treasure inside.
There were only a few yellowed account books and a thick stack of pay slips.
Liu Ming casually picked up an account book and flipped through it, her eyes instantly becoming as sharp as a knife.
The ledgers were filled with records of various falsely reported office supplies purchases and maintenance costs, and the stack of pay slips contained more than a dozen names that had never appeared at the National Development and Reform Commission, yet received high salaries and subsidies every month without fail.
Receiving a salary without working!
And the amount is enormous!
As Liu Ming looked at the signature on the ledger, the flamboyant "Qian Deming," the cold smile on his lips grew deeper.
When you're sleepy, someone brings you a pillow.
This Director Qian not only arranged an excellent "garbage dump" for him, but also gave him a "gift package" that was enough to send him to prison!
He's practically asking for it!
"Boss, this old bastard is incredibly greedy. Just these few ledgers alone add up to at least several million." Ghost Hand leaned over for a look and clicked his tongue in amazement. "In our military region, this would be enough to get him executed ten times over."
"So, the water in the province is even muddier than we imagined."
Liu Ming closed the ledger, weighed it in her hand, and then turned and walked out of room 418.
In the corridor, the deputy directors who had initially been watching the spectacle with amusement now sensed something was amiss. Looking at the yellowed ledger in Liu Ming's hand, a strong sense of foreboding washed over them.
Liu Ming ignored them and went straight to Qian Deming's office.
"Bang!"
He didn't knock, but kicked open the tightly closed mahogany door.
Qian Deming was sitting in the boss's chair drinking tea, imagining Liu Ming's miserable state covered in dust and dirt in that garbage dump, when he was so startled by the loud noise that he almost dropped his teacup.
"Liu Ming! What are you doing? Don't you know the rules? Believe me or not, I'll call the security department to arrest you!" Qian Deming stood up angrily, pointing at Liu Ming and cursing loudly.
Liu Ming did not speak.
He strode to the desk and slapped the dusty ledger hard and mercilessly onto Qian Deming's thin face with a loud "smack!"
"what!"
Qian Deming screamed, covering his reddened face, and was about to retaliate.
But he saw clearly the account book that had fallen on the table.
Those were the mess he made five years ago! He hid them in that empty storage room safe just in case!
How did he find it?
How could he possibly open that safe?
Qian Deming's face instantly turned from anger to deathly pale, large beads of cold sweat rolled down his forehead, and his legs began to tremble uncontrollably.
"You...you..." He pointed at the account book, his lips trembling, unable to utter a complete sentence for a long time.
Liu Ming placed her hands on the table, looking down at the office director who had been so arrogant just moments before. Her cold eyes held no pity, only the absolute crushing power of a superior over a corrupt official.
"Director Qian, I'm very satisfied with that storage room. I'm even more satisfied with what's hidden in it."
Liu Ming's voice was soft, yet it was like a series of cold knives piercing Qian Deming's heart.
I'm giving you two choices.
"First, take this ledger with you to the disciplinary inspection team for a chat."
Liu Ming raised her wrist and glanced at her watch.
"Second. I'm giving you half a day. Before you leave work, equip room 418 with all the office facilities, a genuine leather sofa, and a private bathroom, according to the highest standards for a deputy director of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, a department-level cadre. Just one thing is missing..."
He stretched out his finger and tapped lightly on the ledger, making a dull "thump-thump" sound.
"I delivered this directly to the desk of Zhou Zhengyang, the secretary of the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection."
"Did you understand?"
