Peninsula: From Water Injection to Stardom

Chapter 166 Discussion

Jiang Yan didn't want to dampen the enthusiasm, so in the end he didn't say anything.

At worst, he can just be a little more discreet when he goes out in the future.

Korean paparazzi generally don't focus on male celebrities; instead, they prefer to follow popular female celebrities, looking for evidence of their relationships.

As for why, those who know, know.

So for Mina, she is still quite safe.

However, it's hard to say what will happen after TWICE takes off.

The two parted ways when they were one block away from the dormitory.

After watching the other person's figure disappear, Jiang Yan hailed a taxi and returned to his apartment.

When he got back, he went to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and took out a box of sliced fruit to thaw.

I bought this box yesterday from the fruit shop downstairs; it contains sliced pineapple.

Ever since Kim Seolhyun made him eat pineapple, it has become Kang Yeon's main fruit.

But I don't eat it every day, because I would get tired of it. I also eat it with other fruits.

While waiting for the account to unfreeze, he took out his phone and browsed Weibo.

After logging in with his alternate account, Jiang Yan glanced at the trending topics list and saw a trending topic with his name on it.

#Jiang Yan Signs with Sony# [Hot]

This afternoon, Yuehua Entertainment officially announced through its media outlets that Yuehua Entertainment had signed with Epic Records, a subsidiary of Sony Entertainment.

The specific details were not elaborated, but the published article stated that after Jiang Yan appeared on the Billboard Hot 100, she attracted the attention of many American entertainment companies, and after careful consideration, Yuehua Entertainment ultimately reached a cooperation agreement with Sony.

Of course, this trending topic was definitely bought by Yuehua Entertainment.

The operation is similar to Wu Jiaheng's later signing with Universal Music; its essence is to create hype and for marketing purposes.

However, the outside world's actual reaction to this news was quite significant.

Many people in the music industry were surprised when they first saw this news.

It's not unusual for Sony to sign Chinese singers, as Sony has many branches, including a Chinese branch in China.

But Jiang Yan's company is Sony North America, so the concept is different.

Sony North America had never signed any Chinese singers before.

Their signing of Jiang Yan reflects that Jiang Yan is indeed well-known in North America.

If they didn't have that level of brand recognition, they would definitely only sign with Sony in the Asia-Pacific region.

"Isn't Sony a Japanese company? How come it also has an American subsidiary?"

"That's the Sony Group. Sony Music is one of the world's three largest record companies, and its headquarters are in the United States."

""

"Looks like Jiang Yan is really amazing, the US headquarters came to sign him."

"Some people didn't acknowledge Jiang Yan's popularity abroad before, thinking it was just bragging. What do you say now?"

"This is truly their goal to conquer the global market! Looking forward to their new song!!"

"What's there to look forward to? It's not like we're singing Chinese songs; it's just singing English songs to cater to foreigners' tastes."

"Some people are just sour grapes; they can't stand seeing others do better when their own masters are not doing well."

"Sorry, but every record Jiang Yan sets abroad will be the first for a Chinese singer. If you're not convinced, you can try it yourself."

'

The passersby who came to watch the spectacle were somewhat bewildered by the news. Many of them had no idea what it meant, and some didn't even know that Sony Music was a record company.

However, after seeing the explanations from Jiang Yan's fans and some passersby in the comments section, these people came to the understanding that this was a very impressive thing, and they also subconsciously accepted the fact that Jiang Yan was very popular.

Jiang Yan was scrolling through his phone, looking at all sorts of comments, but found nothing particularly surprising.

That's normal, though, because at that time, online comments were far less abstract than they would be later.

After casually liking the posts of a few people who praised him, Jiang Yan logged out of Weibo and started watching some videos on Huazhan.

He then watched videos while eating pineapple. After slowly finishing the meal over half an hour, he tidied up and went back to his bedroom to rest.

After seeing the news that Jiang Yan had signed with Sony, the veteran members of the old Jay fan forum also started posting discussions on the forum that same day.

Some people even started a discussion about whether Jiang Yan can be considered the number one male singer in China.

As everyone knows, most people in the old Jay fan forum are fans of Bago (a derogatory term for Jay Chou).

Therefore, they would never let go of any opportunity to torture the pug.

-

Soon, a post titled "Rational Discussion: Is Jiang Yan Already the Number One Male Singer in China?" quickly became a popular post on the forum.

[Main Text: Jiang Yan became the first Chinese singer to appear on Billboard a few months ago, and now he has partnered with Sony, one of the three major record labels in the United States. Does this mean he is now the number one male singer in China?]

"Discussing your mother, you're trying to pick a fight with the stutterer again."

"Is this old dog in the forum asking for trouble again? Doesn't the stutterer love traveling to Europe and America? Now that Jiang Yan is on the hot list, why aren't you stepping down?"

"I think we'll have to see how things develop. It's just that it's gaining momentum right now. It would be funny if it disappeared in a couple of years."

"Theoretically speaking, Jiang Yan's current achievements are indeed the upper limit among Chinese singers, but her shortcomings are also very obvious. First, she has too few representative works and lacks the accumulation of works. Second, she has not started a tour yet, so we can't see real fan feedback. It's too early to say that she is number one."

"I don't object to calling him the number one of the new generation. I've listened to his songs, and his musical style is very diverse. He can do R&B, EDM, and Funk elements. His production ability is truly amazing; he's simply a genius."

"Compared to those who only attract attention online, this guy has real talent; there's no way to deny that."

"He's a bit like a combination of Zhou and Lin, he can both compose and sing. I really like his English song, I've been listening to it on repeat for days."

"This person has a really promising future. The only pity is that they come from the Korean wave, which is quite off-putting."

"There's nothing we can do about it. I heard that she initially went to be an idol, and she is indeed good-looking, but her image is very masculine, unlike the EXO members who returned to China and looked a bit effeminate."

'

The post quickly garnered hundreds of replies, drawing out many users who had been lurking for a long time to share their opinions.

Old-school music fans rarely speak carelessly or nonsensically like idol-chasing fans in fandoms. Apart from a few who criticize for the sake of criticizing, most of them rationally analyze various possibilities from different angles.

Many people are quite optimistic about Jiang Yan's future development as a new generation singer, and feel that he has a great chance.

Jiang Yan's advantage is obvious: she can develop her career both domestically and internationally, a condition that no other Chinese singer currently possesses.

Who knows, maybe in the future, China will produce an international superstar whose fame will be known worldwide in the field of singing?
