Peninsula: From Water Injection to Stardom

Chapter 95 Kim Tae-yeon is the Challenger

Most people didn't expect that an hour later, the person who suddenly appeared at the top of Melon's real-time rankings was not Kim Tae-yeon, but Kang Yeon.

Furthermore, Jiang Yan topped not only Melon's real-time charts, but also eight other major music streaming platforms, including Genie and Bugs.

This phenomenon is called AIIKill.

Many people checked Melon's real-time listening curves and found that Kim Tae-yeon's "I" broke the Melon chart 19 times in the first hour, while Kang Yeon's "LOVESCENARIO" broke the chart 23 times.

And that's not all.

Besides the title track, the album also includes three other tracks: "FLOWERROAD," "BeautifuI," and "Give You the Universe."

They ranked third, fourth, and fifth respectively.

From sixth to ninth place, there are four songs by Kim Tae-yeon.

The two of them combined had nine songs, which completely wiped out the top nine spots on the real-time charts.

This sounds like an amazing achievement, but SONEs are not happy at all.

The current situation is that, in terms of music charts, Kim Tae-yeon's title track has not surpassed Kang Yeon's, nor has her B-side track surpassed Kang Yeon's.

Everyone knew that one side would be suppressed, but no one expected that it would be Kim Tae-yeon who was suppressed, and so thoroughly.

"Wait a minute? It turns out Taeyeon got pinned down by Kang Yeon???"

Is Melon experiencing a bug?

"Everyone on the street is listening to Taeyeon's songs, okay? I don't believe this data."

"Jiang Yan's fans are obviously manipulating the charts!!"

"It's like you're saying SONEs aren't manipulating the charts right now, lol."

"The top nine have been completely reshuffled—this is the first time I've ever seen two solo matches go like this."

"SM probably didn't expect this outcome either."

"I listened to both of them, and to be honest, Jiang Yan's song is definitely easier to listen to on repeat."

"Let's wait and see. Maybe things will be different after the first day of settlement tomorrow."

The current situation has sparked heated discussions among countless people on the forum.

Not only were the SONEs in disbelief, but many passersby were also shocked.

Essentially, the best-case scenario that everyone imagined was that both sides would fight back and forth, and then Kim Tae-yeon would win because of her large fan base and the surge in her music sales.

Now the tables have turned, and Kim Tae-yeon is the challenger.

The sone players were still comforting themselves, thinking that this was just a temporary setback, and that things would definitely get better in a few hours, just as they expected.

But in reality, by noon that day, SONE's heart had already given up.

On Melon's real-time charts, "1" has already reached 45 listens in 12 hours.

This data would easily put it in first place under any other circumstances.

But in today's context, it would only rank second.

Because "LOVESCENARIO" ranked first, it has already surpassed 70 listens in 12 hours.

But there's no time to be sad about the poor performance on the music charts; what's coming next is a comparison of album sales.

On the first day after the pre-sale ended, the first batch of actual sales of Kim Tae-yeon's "I—The 1st Mini AI Bum" has been recorded on H Chart.

The first day's sales were 12549 copies, which may not sound like much, but it's actually quite a lot for a female solo artist.

Jeon Hyosung's solo album this year has sold a total of 13376 copies.

Normally, SONE would definitely boast about these sales figures, but after seeing Jiang Yan's first-day sales, which they considered their rival, they fell silent.

Jiang Yan's second mini album, "Netstep," only sold a modest 126347 copies on its first day of release on the H Chart.

With the gap in audio quality widening to a certain extent, and sales being crushed tenfold, SONE has really lost its edge.

Meanwhile, Feli, who had previously been hesitant to act out of character and had been holding back their anger, finally began to engage in "friendly" communication on social media.

"Didn't SONE say they wanted to watch Melon? Did they watch it? Have they had enough?"

"They say it's a massive fog of sound, and whoever it hits dies? Well, it hit itself and died, KKKKKK"

"12549 vs 126347, even if you remove the first digit, it still has more than yours, and even if you remove the last digit, it still has more than yours. Choose for yourself."

"Ten times the sales on the first day, and that's not even the final sales figure. Can SONE even compete?"

"Completely dominating in both digital music sales and physical sales—is this what SONEs mean by 'teaching the younger generation how to behave'?"

"Dimensional reduction attack? Whose dimension are you reducing? It's certainly not our YA."

"Actually, Taeyeon's songs are also very good, it's just that our Kang Yeon is more talented."

Don't be sad, SONEs. Next time you make a comeback, SM will arrange a weaker opponent for you. Don't try to take advantage of us anymore.

.

"We let our results speak for themselves, unlike some groups that only make grand pronouncements in advance."

Some people dug up SONE's previous remarks and retaliated, while others started making sarcastic remarks.

Although SONE was a little embarrassed by this boomerang, he did not back down.

Because they haven't lost yet.

If Kim Tae-yeon wins first place next week, there's still a chance to turn things around.

As a skilled surfer, Jiang Yan was certainly aware of the buzz circulating on Korean online forums.

But at this point, he had already arrived at Ment TV, backstage at the music show "M! Countdown".

In the afternoon, he will be recording his first comeback stage performance here.

In the rest area, Jiang Yan sat upright while Cody made the final touches to his styling.

Meanwhile, Jiang Zhennan was talking to him about the upcoming schedule.

"As per your request, there will be five book signing events in China, but to shorten the time, there will be two events per day."

In order to break the 200,000 sales mark this time, Jiang Yan discussed with Yuehua Entertainment and decided to add two more shows on top of the original three, and increase the number of people allowed at each autograph session to 200.

On average, you can get a spot at a book signing event for about five or six thousand yuan. A single book signing event can generate about 14,000 additional sales, and five events would generate nearly 70,000 sales.

If this still doesn't achieve the expected results, Jiang Yan will resort to another method to boost sales—selling bonus cards and giving away albums.

Four versions, five high-intensity autograph sessions, plus the special bonus card strategy.

If all three approaches are still insufficient, then Jiang Yan will resort to the last resort used by all South Korean entertainment companies: offline buybacks by the company.

Why did Jiang Yan do this?

This achievement will not only attract influencer fans to join him, but it will also be relevant to his next marketing campaign.

GD's best-selling solo album to date has sold 195603 copies.

Once Jiang Yan surpasses 200,000 views, he plans to have Yuehua Entertainment buy Weibo trending topics.

He even came up with the trending search terms—#JiangYanSurpassesGD to Become KPOP Male SoIo's Number One in Sales#

Before the ban on Korean entertainment, EXO's concerts in China drew less than 1 people per show, while BIGBANG's concerts drew more than 1 people per show.

In other words, during this period, BIGBANG's influence and brand recognition in China's lower-tier markets were greater than EXO's.

So he really wanted to see what kind of reaction this trending topic would have in China when it was released.

He absolutely has to capitalize on this wave of popularity.

After all, if we don't hurry up and eat, we'll miss this opportunity and never have another chance.
