Chapter 37 Meeting, Hela
"Who are you?!"
Casillas looked at the man outside the door, who was dressed in armor and looked like a medieval knight, and asked him in a low voice warily.
"Greetings. I am here on the orders of Odin, the King of the Gods, to invite the Sorcerer Supreme to Asgard."
The visitor addressed Casillas politely.
"Odin, the King of the Gods?!"
Casillas was also taken aback when he heard this title.
As mages, they did know about the Lord of the Nine Realms.
"I understand, please come in."
Casillas paused for a moment, then spoke politely to the visitor.
After inviting the person in, he arranged for them to stay in the main temple and then said to them, "Please wait here for a moment while I go and invite the Supreme Master."
"Thank you." The man dressed as a knight bowed slightly to Casillas in thanks.
"You are welcome."
Casillas then left the main temple and went to Wanda's monastery, where Wanda lived.
Upon arriving at Wanda's residence, Casillas knocked on the door.
"Supreme Master".
"There is someone who claims to be from Asgard, on the orders of Odin, the king of the gods, who has come to take you to Asgard."
Casillas called out into the house in a voice that was neither too loud nor too soft.
The sound was loud enough for Wanda to hear.
In the meditation hall, Wanda, who was sitting by the window, put down her book and got up from the sofa after hearing Kaecilius's words.
After leaving the meditation hall, Wanda saw Casillas waiting at the entrance.
"Inside the main temple?"
As she walked past him, Wanda casually asked another question.
"Yes."
Casillas replied calmly.
Having received the expected answer, Wanda headed towards the main temple.
……
Upon arriving at the temple, Wanda immediately spotted a man in knight's armor standing there.
The newcomer was dressed as a medieval knight, with blond hair, and his appearance was, well, average.
He doesn't have the looks of a supporting character.
"Supreme Master".
The man dressed as a knight bowed respectfully to Wanda.
"I have come here on the orders of His Majesty the King of Gods to invite you to Asgard."
"Your Majesty, I have something important to discuss with you."
"Did they say exactly what it was?" Wanda glanced at the man and asked calmly.
"They didn't specify anything, but they mentioned a place name."
After thinking for a moment, the man said.
"What's the place name?"
Wanda glanced at it and asked.
"Heimlich Kingdom".
The man answered honestly.
Upon hearing the name, Wanda understood.
She had a pretty good idea of what Odin wanted to discuss with her.
"Okay, I understand."
Wanda turned to look at Kaecilius, who was following behind her, and said, "I'm going to Asgard to take care of Kamar-Taj."
"Yes, Your Holiness."
Casillas nodded in agreement.
"Let's go."
After giving her instructions, Wanda turned to the messenger and whispered.
"Eh, oh oh."
Before the man could react, a crimson portal appeared in front of him.
The other side of the portal is Asgard.
Wanda ignored the man and stepped inside first.
Upon entering Asgard, Wanda immediately spotted Odin sitting on the throne.
At this time, Odin had not yet entered Odin's Sleep.
Yeah, but it'll be soon.
Wanda thought to herself.
She could sense Odin's weakness at that moment.
"You may leave now."
Odin spoke to the messenger who appeared behind him.
"Yes, Your Majesty the God-King."
The man bowed respectfully.
Once the palace was empty, Odin turned to Wanda.
"Please sit, the new Supreme Master."
Odin waved his hand and conjured a chair, well, it was on his right.
There's no special meaning to it; it's just a seat.
Wanda didn't say anything. Sitting down, she looked at Odin and asked, "Your Majesty, did you invite me here because of something important to discuss?"
Wanda asked in a calm tone.
Although she had a guess, there was no need to say it directly, in case she was wrong, she would feel a little embarrassed.
"The Sorcerer Supreme, who possesses the Time Stone, should be able to guess what I invited you here to discuss, right?!"
Odin replied in a deep voice.
"Is it about Princess Hela?"
Wanda looked calmly at Odin and asked.
"It seems you've already seen the future!"
Upon hearing this answer, Odin sighed and said, "Sometimes I really envy you Sorcerers Supreme, who can see as much of the future as possible."
"Avoid it as much as possible."
When Odin said this, he was genuinely a little envious, perhaps partly because he was about to pass away in his old age.
He was already old and nearing his death, so there was no need for him to keep a tense expression or maintain the demeanor of a god-king.
Moreover, he was now facing someone of the same level as him, and the two had a good relationship—well, a relationship with her teacher—so there was no need for him to maintain the dignity of a god-king.
It's normal for both sides to drop their tense facades and chat like acquaintances.
"This is not without its price, Your Majesty the God-King."
"Sometimes, isn't it more painful to know the future clearly but be unable to change it?"
Wanda looked at the old and frail Odin and said calmly.
Isn't that what Asgard is like?
Although Odin cannot see the future as freely as the Sorcerer Supreme, he does have some understanding of it.
For example, Ragnarok, he knew about it, but he couldn't change it.
Isn't that even more painful?
"You're right, sometimes knowing everything isn't necessarily a good thing."
Odin remembered the purpose of summoning Wanda and said with slight pain.
"The new Sorcerer Supreme."
"I invited you here today to make a deal with you."
Odin, relieved of his pain, spoke solemnly to Wanda.
"You could say I want to ask for your help."
Odin added one last thing.
"Your Majesty, please speak."
Wanda guessed the details of the deal, the general outline.
"I want your help in dealing with Hela, my eldest daughter, who is planning to attack Asgard."
Odin explained forlornly.
He failed miserably in taking care of his family.
Neither of his two children was qualified to inherit his throne.
He was a murderer who loved war and knew nothing about peace or the way of the king.
He was reckless, impulsive, single-minded, and fond of war.
The other one only knows how to play tricks and schemes, has a shallow understanding of the true path of kingship, and is not on good terms with his brothers, nor is he strong enough.
All of this was his doing. As a king, as a founder, he was successful. But as a father, he was a failure, a complete and utter failure.
