Morse glanced at Liu Nian.

This adventurer is only level 199, yet he is so confident?

"I didn't come in alone. There are more than 1000 people from our guild who came in. They are currently outside dealing with those rampant vines. I saw this tunnel and came in by myself."

"Oh?" Morse's eyes lit up upon hearing this.

So that's how it is. No wonder this guy reached such a deep place at level 199. It seems the experts in the guild are outside.

"Wait here for a moment, I'll bring them over."

Morse said, "Wait a minute, are those spider minions still in the tunnel?"

"Yes!"

"Come with me!" Morse said.

Morse led Liu Nian out of the laboratory and turned left along a narrow maintenance passage.

The walls on both sides of the passage were embedded with pipes and cables, and the floor was made of perforated metal mesh that creaked when stepped on. Through the mesh, one could see the dark pit below, and a breeze blew in, carrying a strong smell of engine oil.

"Those spider servants you saw earlier, we also have them in Gnomeregan. They're a kind of self-splitting maintenance unit," Morse said as he walked, his tall frame having to bend over in the low passageway. "This design usually has a back door."

"back door?"

"Yes. A master terminal can take over control of all the spider servants." Morse pushed open a rusty metal door and walked into a small room.

"Let me see where it is..." Morse said, groping along the wall. His hands could emit arcs of electricity, as if he could sense the structure behind the wall.

Soon, he stopped on a smooth wall, extended a finger, and after a moment of preparation, suddenly shot out a ten-centimeter-long laser from the tip of his finger, easily cutting a round hole in the wall. Then he reached in and pulled out a rhombus-shaped crystal a moment later.

This thing looks like crystal, but it's not; it's actually the main control terminal.

Morse slid his finger across it a few times, and suddenly a thin thread, as fine as glass, emerged from one end of the rhombus-shaped crystal.

He let Liu Nian pinch it with his hand, and the silk absorbed Liu Nian's blood and then shrank back.

Then the rhombus-shaped crystal suddenly turned gold.

"Alright, you can go and recall them now!"

"Is this for me?" Liu Nian took the device.

Morse laughed: "You saved my life, that's nothing. There will be even more benefits once you help me transport the engine back to Gnomeregan!"

Liu Nian looked at the object in his hand with curiosity. What was this thing? Was it equipment? Or a strange object? It didn't seem like any of them. It should be some kind of cutting-edge technological creation.

Morse said, "The design prototype for those spider servants isn't actually a spider, but a kind of grasshopper that can self-replicate, or rather, split. I bet you can't count them all, but there are a total of one thousand spider servants. They can either act separately or merge into a single spider king. Theoretically, as long as one spider servant doesn't die, given enough time and enough anti-magic ore to eat, it can split back into 1000!"

"That powerful?" Liu Nian hadn't expected these spider servants to have such an immortal characteristic.

"So generally, as long as you keep one of these spider servants in your hand when you're using them, you don't need to worry about them getting hurt! These little guys aren't particularly strong in combat, but they can handle a whole range of tasks, including repairing, exploring, solving puzzles, building roads and bridges, digging, and gathering resources! They're very useful!"

Liu Nian hadn't expected such a pleasant surprise; these things could even replace Xiao Lan's role in some aspects.

Speaking of Little Blue, Liu Nian told Morse about the Demon King Jellyfish and his worries. This legendary adventurer was knowledgeable and should have a way to upgrade Little Blue.

As expected, Morse did not disappoint Liu Nian: "A fluid-like creature? I wonder if you encountered that caveman leader on your way here? Is it still around?"

"Oh, I've encountered them before. They were killed by my companions!"

Morse thought to himself: So you do have even more powerful companions!

So he said, "That saves me the trouble of explaining. I'm sure you already know the defensive characteristics of that creature. In Gnomeregan, we have the technology to modify it and upgrade it! Since you saved me, I'll make sure you're satisfied with this!"

"That's great!" Liu Nian was overjoyed.

Morse followed Liu Nian to the tunnel. Liu Nian told Morse to wait there while he went into the tunnel himself.

The spider servants were still there, quietly crouching inside the dividing line, their red lenses warily watching the wriggling vines outside the tunnel.

As soon as Liu Nian entered the tunnel, he immediately aroused their vigilance. However, as Liu Nian raised the device in his hand, a ring of golden light emanated from the device and spread throughout the tunnel.

The spider servants, covered by the light wave, froze for a moment, then turned their heads in unison, all six red lenses staring at Liu Nian.

Then, like a swarm of ants summoned, they rushed toward Liu Nian.

But instead of lunging at him, they lunged at the device in his hand.

Liu Nian didn't want to be surrounded by these things, so he placed the device on the ground.

Soon, the first spider servant jumped onto the device, its eight legs tightly gripping the outer shell. Then the second one jumped up and piled on top of the first. The third, the fourth, the fifth—one after another, like a human pyramid, they quickly stacked around the device to form a sphere.

As the sphere grew larger, the spiders on its surface constantly adjusted their positions, their segments interlocking and making a clicking mechanical sound.

Their bodies began to deform—the originally rounded shells grew angular edges, the limbs shortened and thickened, and the red lenses shrank into the armor, replaced by rows of fine heat dissipation holes.

When the last spider servant embeds itself into the spherical surface, the sphere suddenly expands and then unfolds.

Eight enormous mechanical legs extended from the sphere, each three meters long and ending in sharp spikes. The sphere itself transformed into an oval-shaped torso, its surface covered in thick armor, from which a ghostly blue light emanated. At the front of the torso, eight red lenses lit up simultaneously, like eight eyes.

This is the Spider King form.

It stood in the tunnel, almost touching the ceiling. Its eight legs were slightly bent, like a beast poised to pounce.

The changes in the tunnel naturally caught the attention of Shi Ri and the others. Liu Nian briefly explained the situation to them in the channel, and Shi Ri and Wu Zhan slowly retreated into the tunnel.

The vines slowly began to take over the outside passage again.

"What exactly are those vines?" Liu Nian asked Morse.
