The woods were dimly lit, and the dense foliage rustled as they walked. Jiang Xiaochuan walked ahead, with Biyao following behind, and neither of them spoke.

After walking for about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, a small hill rose up in a clearing in the woods ahead. The soil was black and the grass was sparse. On one side of the hill, there was a small hole that one had to bend over to enter.

The stones next to the cave entrance were also black, so black they shone, as if they had been smoked by something.

Jiang Xiaochuan stopped and looked at the cave entrance.

Biyao stopped and stood beside him, secretly holding the Heartbreak Flower in her hand.

The cave was quiet except for the sound of the wind, howling and blowing out from the entrance, carrying a chilly aura.

After a while, a person came out of the cave.

It was a woman, dressed in pure white, with black hair that reached her waist. She had a very white face, thin eyebrows, long eyes, and naturally red lips. She stood in the shadows at the cave entrance, quietly watching them.

"You," she began, her voice soft and slightly hoarse, "have you come to kill me?"

Jiang Xiaochuan didn't answer immediately. He looked the woman up and down a few times, then turned to Biyao and said, "Make your move."

Biyao was taken aback. She turned to look at him, her eyes filled with doubt. Didn't he say he was here to save the demon?

Jiang Xiaochuan didn't explain, but simply raised his chin at the woman.

Biyao pursed her lips and didn't ask any more questions. With a flick of her finger, the Heartbreak Flower slid out from her sleeve. In a flash of white light, it transformed into countless white petals that fluttered silently toward the woman at the cave entrance.

The woman's expression changed, and she retreated rapidly. Several white ribbons emerged from her sleeves, moving like serpents towards the petals. When the ribbons touched the petals, they made a soft "hissing" sound, and ice crystals actually condensed.

Jiang Xiaochuan didn't watch them fight. He looked around, bent down and picked up a palm-sized black stone from the ground, weighed it in his hand, then threw it away. "No, wait," he thought, "I'm a cultivator now, why would I need a stone?"

He lifted his foot and walked towards the cave entrance. His steps were slow but steady.

Biyao's sorrowful petals became entangled with the woman's white silk. The two were locked in a stalemate when Jiang Xiaochuan walked past them and went straight to the woman in white.

The woman noticed his approach, turned her head sharply, a cold glint flashed in her eyes, and another white ribbon shot towards his face like an arrow.

Jiang Xiaochuan neither dodged nor flinched, but raised his right hand, bent his elbow, and thrust it forward with a sudden jerk!

"MAN!"

He gave a low shout and slammed his elbow into the woman's neck.

With a muffled "plop".

The woman's eyes widened, and her body went limp as she collapsed. Jiang Xiaochuan instinctively reached out to catch her waist.

A hand reached out from the side and grabbed his wrist.

It was Biyao. She had taken the Heartbreak Flower, and the petals had dissipated. She held Jiang Xiaochuan's hand, staring at him with a cold look in her eyes.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"Catch her!" Jiang Xiaochuan said. "It will hurt a lot if she falls to the ground."

"Is that so?" Biyao looked at him, a smirk playing on her lips. "I think you're just trying to take advantage of me."

"I didn't," Jiang Xiaochuan immediately denied, his voice sounding a little weak.

Biyao didn't believe him at all. She let go of his hand, took a step forward, bent down, put her arms under the woman's knees and back, and with a forceful lift, picked her up horizontally. The woman was not light, but she held her steadily.

Jiang Xiaochuan looked at her, then at the unconscious woman in her arms. His gaze swept over the woman's waist, where something seemed to be hidden, with a faint warm aura emanating from it. The Xuanhuo Mirror should be there.

But he didn't say anything, too lazy to explain.

"Let's go," he said, turning to look at the dark cave entrance. "There might be more inside."

Biyao didn't say anything, but hugged the woman and followed him into the cave.

The wind at the cave entrance was colder, blowing against my face like tiny knives. The cave was deep, sloping downwards, pitch black, and I couldn't see the bottom.

Jiang Xiaochuan took out a luminous pearl from his storage space. It was about the size of a fist and emitted a soft yellow light, barely illuminating a distance of about ten feet in front of him.

Biyao carried him and walked behind him. The cave walls were damp and covered with slippery moss. The further down they went, the lower the temperature became, and their breaths even produced white vapor.

Biyao suddenly whispered, "This place reminds me a bit of my childhood..."

She didn't finish speaking. Jiang Xiaochuan paused, but didn't turn around, continuing to walk down.

After walking about a hundred paces, the path gradually became flat. But the temperature began to rise, not just warm up, but hot and stuffy, like stepping into a steamer. Dark red patterns, like blood vessels, began to appear on the cave walls, faintly glowing.

There were many rustling sounds coming from ahead, a lot of them, a lot of them.

Jiang Xiaochuan raised the luminous pearl, and the light shone on it, illuminating the cave walls and the ground, where many things were lying, hanging, and crawling.

There were strange tigers with five eyes and protruding saber teeth, giant leeches as thick as buckets and entirely black, monstrous beasts covered in bony spikes resembling pangolins, and many more bizarre, unidentifiable creatures. They sat there silently, their eyes flashing with various colors in the darkness, staring at them.

Jiang Xiaochuan stopped, and Biyao also stopped, glanced ahead, and clicked her tongue softly.

"There are quite a few," she whispered. "It'll take some effort to fight them."

Jiang Xiaochuan didn't speak. He looked at the demonic beasts, then at the unconscious woman in Biyao's arms. Then, he raised his hand, pointed at the woman, and made a throat-slitting gesture.

A slight commotion arose among the monsters.

The glowing eyes flickered, as if communicating. After a few breaths, the commotion subsided, and the monsters slowly retreated to both sides, making way for a narrow passage.

Jiang Xiaochuan stepped inside, with Biyao carrying him and following closely behind.

The passage was narrow, allowing only one person to pass at a time. The demonic beasts on both sides were almost touching their bodies. They could smell the stench emanating from them and feel the heat of their breath, but none of them made a move.

After leaving the horde of monsters, there was a narrow cave entrance ahead, only wide enough for one person to bend over and pass through. Jiang Xiaochuan was the first to squeeze in.

Suddenly, everything became clear.

It was a huge cave, so high that its top was nowhere in sight, and so wide that its boundaries were nowhere in sight.

In the center of the cave is a churning lake of lava, the crimson liquid bubbling and gurgling. The heat is so intense it feels like a physical wave, scorching the skin. The entire cave is bathed in a crimson glow, with light and shadow dancing on the cave walls, like a painting of hell.

On the side of the lava lake near the cave wall, there is a naturally formed stone hollow, like a bird's nest, where the temperature is slightly lower and there is a dry rock surface.

A white figure was lying in the stone hollow.

It was huge, even curled up, it looked like a small mountain. Its entire body was snow-white, and its fur shone with a soft, warm hue under the red glow of the lava. Behind it, six bushy tails hung limply to the ground.

Six-Tails. His eyes were closed, his brows were furrowed, his breathing was weak, and there was an abnormal dark bruise on his chest, emanating a chilling aura.

The appearance of Jiang Xiaochuan and Biyao alarmed him.

He slowly opened his eyes; they were exquisitely beautiful fox eyes, upturned at the corners, with amber pupils. He first saw Jiang Xiaochuan, his gaze wary and cold. Then, he saw Biyao, and the unconscious woman in white in Biyao's arms.

"Third Sister!" he cried out, struggling to sit up, but his body went limp and he fell back down.

He stared intently at Biyao, his eyes blazing with rage and despair. "You...let her go!"
