Xiaozhu Peak, afternoon.

On the training ground, a dozen female disciples in white robes were practicing swordsmanship. The swords flashed brightly, and their figures moved gracefully, causing the bamboo leaves to rustle as they rose and fell.

Shuiyue stood on the sidelines, hands behind her back, watching with a blank expression. Occasionally she would speak, her voice cold and clear:

"Sink your wrist down three-tenths of an inch."

"Direct your Qi from the Dantian (lower abdomen), do not use brute force."

"This move needs to be quick."

The disciple who was called on quickly adjusted himself, sweat beading on his forehead, but he didn't dare wipe it away.

A figure in light green ascended the mountain path, her steps light, almost making no sound as she trod on the fallen leaves. Su Ru walked to the edge of the field, stood for a while, and waited until Shui Yue finished instructing a disciple before softly calling out:

"Senior sister."

Shuiyue turned to look at her, nodded, and said to the disciples in the arena, "That's all for today. Go back and reflect on your experiences."

"Yes, Master." The disciples sheathed their swords, bowed, and dispersed in twos and threes.

Shuiyue then walked towards Su Ru, and the two walked side by side into the depths of the bamboo forest. The dense bamboo leaves blocked most of the sunlight, leaving only some dappled shadows that fell on their clothes and faces.

"What brings you here?" Shuiyue asked.

"Come and sit down," Su Ru said with a smile.

"Ling'er, ever since Xiao Chuan came down the mountain, has been staying in her room practicing martial arts and has become very quiet. I felt bored, so I came out for a walk."

Shuiyue hummed in response but didn't reply.

The two walked to a small pavilion. The pavilion was made of bamboo and had been there for many years. The pillars gleamed with a dark brown light. In the middle was a stone table and four stone stools. Shuiyue sat down first, and Suru sat down as well.

"Xiao Chuan has gone down the mountain," Su Ru said, tracing a line on the stone table with her finger. "He left this morning."

Shuiyue said in a nonchalant tone, "I know. That kid came by before he left, stood at Xueqi's door for a long time, hung up an ugly sword tassel, and then left."

Su Ru smiled and said, "This child is thoughtful."

"Intentional?" Shuiyue snorted. "I think he's feeling guilty, afraid that Xueqi will come after him and settle accounts, so he's hiding away."

Su Ru was taken aback: "Settle accounts? Settle what accounts?"

Shuiyue glanced at her, her expression a little strange, as if she wanted to laugh but held it back.

She picked up the half-eaten cup of cold tea that someone had left on the stone table, took a sip, and then slowly said:

"Two years ago, on the day before Xueqi went into seclusion, I was outside the bamboo hut."

Su Ru blinked, waiting for what would happen next.

Shuiyue put down her teacup, her fingers gently stroking the rim: "I heard that the boy inside calling Xueqi 'wife'."

Su Ru's eyes widened.

"That's not all," Shuiyue continued, her tone even stranger, "At first, Xueqi made him call her 'Mom'."

Su Ru chuckled, then quickly covered her mouth.

Su Ru imagined Tian Buyi's reaction after finding out, and couldn't help but shake her head and chuckle.

As she laughed, she remembered Shuiyue's words from earlier, "Let her call me 'Mom'." Suddenly, she felt a little uncomfortable. Xueqi wanted her to call her Mom... then what was she? ...Oh well, she'd just consider it a little fun for the young couple.

"What are you laughing at?" Shuiyue glared at her, but couldn't help but smile herself.

"I was listening outside at the time, and I almost pushed the door open and went in."

"And then?" Su Ru asked with a smile, her eyes shining.

"Then the boy refused to call out, so Xueqi coaxed him, saying that she was going into seclusion for a few years and was reluctant to leave, and wanted to hear him say one last thing before she left."

Shuiyue shook her head as she spoke, "That kid is soft-hearted. He hesitated for a long time, but he actually called out. He called out softly, in a breathy voice, but I heard it."

Su Ru laughed so hard she almost fell over, pointing at Shui Yue and stammering, "Senior sister, senior sister...you...you were just listening outside the whole time?"

"Otherwise what?" Shuiyue said irritably. "Were you going to push the door open and say, 'You guys continue?'"

Su Ru laughed for a while before slowly stopping, wiping away the tears of laughter from the corners of her eyes: "This child... really..."

"It's not over yet," Shuiyue said again, her expression even stranger.

After calling her "wife," the boy got shy and tried to push Xueqi, but they tripped and fell onto the bed.

Su Ru opened her eyes wide again.

"I heard a thud inside, and then the kid hurriedly said, 'Sorry, I didn't mean to.'" Shuiyue imitated Jiang Xiaochuan's tone, but not quite right, yet Su Ru laughed again.

Then, Xueqi asked him, "How does it feel?"

Su Ru didn't smile this time; she just pursed her lips and her eyes curved into crescents.

"That kid was almost crying, saying, 'I didn't feel anything.'" Shuiyue said, laughing and shaking her head.

Xueqi said, "Since you've touched me, you have to take responsibility. Call me 'wife' again, or I'll tell my master."

Su Ru let out a soft "Ah".

"The boy was terrified. He rushed over and covered her mouth, then let go, and finally screamed again." Shuiyue finished speaking, let out a long sigh, and leaned back in the bamboo chair.

"I left when I heard no more noise inside. If I had listened any longer, I was afraid I would have lost face as a master."

Su Ru laughed for a while before saying softly, "Xueqi... she really takes after you."

"What do you mean by 'like me'?" Shuiyue glared.

"You took the initiative," Su Ru laughed, "Back then, weren't you the one with Senior Brother Wan...?"

"Stop." Shuiyue raised her hand, interrupting her, a rare hint of unease flashing across her face.

"Why bring up old stories?"

Su Ru smiled and remained silent, gazing at the bamboo grove outside the pavilion. The wind blew, and the bamboo leaves rustled, as if they were laughing.

"Oh, right," Su Ru suddenly said, "I gave Mo Xue to him."

Shuiyue turned to look at her: "Moxue? Your sword?"

"Hmm." Su Ru nodded, her fingers unconsciously drawing circles on the stone table.

"We don't know how long he'll be gone or where he'll be going on this trip down the mountain. It's always good to have a sword for self-defense."

Shuiyue was silent for a while before saying, "You really care about him."

Su Ru smiled but didn't reply. She just looked out of the pavilion, where sunlight filtered through the bamboo leaves, casting dappled shadows on her face and making her expression somewhat indistinct.

"Give him a sword, and protect him on the one hand," Su Ru said slowly, her voice softer.

"On the one hand, it's also to tell some people who have connections behind this kid, and that they should think twice before trying to mess with him."

Shuiyue looked at her: "Are you afraid of the Demonic Sect?"

"The Demonic Sect..." Su Ru paused, then shook her head. "The Ghost King Sect probably wouldn't, after all, that young lady is somewhat involved with him."

Shuiyue fell silent again, this time for even longer. She picked up her teacup, found it empty, and put it down.

"Senior sister," Su Ru said softly, "Don't worry, I know Xiao Chuan well. If he really has something going on with that person, not only will you disagree, but Buyi and I will be the first to object."

Shuiyue's expression softened a bit, and she snorted, "Xueqi's talent and appearance are both unparalleled in the world. Unless that kid is blind, there's no reason for him not to choose Xueqi."

Su Ru smiled and chimed in, "Yes, yes, yes, who wouldn't like someone like Xueqi?"

Shuiyue glanced at her and suddenly asked, "What about your Ling'er?"

Su Ru's smile faded. She turned her head and looked into the deeper bamboo forest outside the pavilion. She looked for a long time before letting out a soft sigh.

"Ling'er, that child..." Her voice lowered, tinged with helplessness and a touch of heartache, "She's always been strong-willed, and if she likes something, she has to get it. Now..."

She didn't finish her sentence, but just sighed again.

Shuiyue didn't ask any more questions. The two of them just sat there, watching the bamboo shadows sway outside the pavilion and listening to the rustling of the wind.

After a long silence, Su Ru spoke again, her voice soft, as if she were talking to herself:

"When it comes to feelings, who can really explain it?"
