The Dharma image beside him saw it clearly, and his eyes showed amazement.

He knew that Lu Xueqi had gained some enlightenment in front of the blank jade wall at Tianyin Temple ten years ago and learned some of the true methods of Buddhism, but he never expected that she could integrate the Buddhist and Taoist techniques to such a wonderful and harmonious degree.

As for the third force, he vaguely felt it was somewhat familiar, seemingly similar to the demonic sect's techniques, yet completely different, more upright and powerful. He was puzzled, but since Lu Xueqi was a member of the Qingyun Sect and had profound cultivation, he couldn't ask her directly. He simply praised her sincerely, "Senior Sister Lu's cultivation is profound and comprehensive. This humble monk admires her."

Lu Xueqi simply nodded, her gaze fixed ahead, wary of any danger that might emerge from the thick miasma.

Jiang Xiaochuan leaned against her, completely protected by the three-colored light shield. He could barely smell the suffocating poisonous miasma outside and felt safe. He looked up at Lu Xueqi's well-defined jawline and whispered, "Xueqi, you're amazing."

Lu Xueqi looked down at him, didn't say anything, but tightened her grip on his arm.

In the distance, the place where the golden light was shimmering seemed to be getting closer and closer.

……

They flew for an unknown amount of time, perhaps half a day, perhaps longer. In the depths of this dead swamp, where there was no sun or moon, only endless gray-green mist, the sense of time became blurred.

The miasma ahead was extremely dense, almost dark green in color, flowing slowly and viscously, like an endless, highly poisonous wall.

This is the true dividing line between the inner and outer parts of the Death Swamp.

This miasma is no ordinary poison. Not to mention ordinary people, even cultivators with slightly weaker cultivation levels would likely die instantly from the poison if they inhaled even a single breath or if a little bit of it got on their skin, turning into pus.

Just as everyone was filled with trepidation and preparing to exert all their spiritual power to painstakingly cross this final barrier, the weather in the Dead Swamp changed suddenly.

Without warning, a sudden gust of wind arose!

The wind wasn't blowing from any particular direction; it was coming from all directions, tearing and spinning wildly without any pattern!

The thick, dark green miasma was whipped up by the gale, instantly darkening the sky and forming a gigantic, terrifying storm vortex filled with deadly poisonous miasma!

Sight was completely taken away, and all that could be heard was the howling wind and the viscous, tooth-grinding sound of flowing miasma.

"Watch out! It's a miasma storm!" Xiao Yicai's stern shout sounded faint and distant in the storm.

"Keep the magic weapon steady! Don't let it scatter!" Faxiang also urged urgently.

However, in the face of the might of heaven and earth, the power of an individual seems so insignificant.

The group was instantly scattered, and the various protective auras flickered uncertainly in the raging dark green storm, like small boats in a raging sea, which could capsize at any moment.

As the storm approached, Lu Xueqi's gaze sharpened, and the three-colored light shield around her suddenly shone brightly, becoming even more solid.

She held Jiang Xiaochuan tightly in her arms, almost completely enveloping him with her body. The light of the Tianya Sword contracted, transforming into the most resilient protection.

The storm, carrying highly toxic miasma, raged against the light shield, emitting a chilling hiss and corrosive sound, but the three-colored light shield remained exceptionally stable, keeping all dangers at bay.

Jiang Xiaochuan was surrounded by darkness. He could only feel Lu Xueqi's warm and firm embrace and her steady, powerful heartbeat. The sound of the wind and the hissing of the miasma seemed distant. He was being well protected.

At the height of the storm, out of the corner of Lu Xueqi's eye, she seemed to glimpse an indescribably enormous, blurry shadow moving silently and at an incredible speed through the thick miasma below and to her side.

The shadow was so enormous that even a fleeting glimpse of it instilled a sense of insignificance and dread, as if one were facing a primordial behemoth, deep within one's soul. Wherever it passed, even the raging miasma storms seemed to freeze and retreat.

Jiang Xiaochuan also sensed something—an indescribable, chilling sense of oppression. He subconsciously gripped Lu Xueqi's clothes tightly.

Lu Xueqi hugged him tightly, her chin resting on the top of his head. Her voice pierced through the howling storm, reaching his ears clearly—steady, calm, and carrying a reassuring strength.

"Don't be afraid, I'm here."

The enormous shadow seemed uninterested in the tiny speck of light, merely swaying its body indifferently and gracefully before disappearing into the endless, dark green miasma as if it had never existed.

The storm continues to rage.

But at least for now, they are still by each other's side.

……

The rain is still falling.

It wasn't heavy, just a light drizzle, hitting the thick, gray-green mist of the swamp, the gnarled and menacing branches and leaves of the strange trees, and the invisible, stretched-out spiritual energy barrier, making a soft, continuous rustling sound.

Jiang Xiaochuan stood on a thick, horizontal branch of a half-dead giant tree. The branch was slippery and covered with thick moss. He frowned, gazing at the seemingly endless, rain-shrouded, dark jungle ahead, muttering under his breath, "This wretched place, the rain never stops, it's cold and damp, my clothes are soaked through, and my bones are aching..."

Before he could finish speaking, Lu Xueqi, who had been standing quietly beside him, twitched her fingers almost imperceptibly.

A very subtle fluctuation of spiritual energy, almost imperceptible, rippled from her fingertips like an invisible, slightly tilted umbrella, silently enveloping her, Jiang Xiaochuan beside her, and the small patch of dry branches at their feet.

As the raindrops fell, they were gently slid away and bounced off the clear barrier the instant they touched it, not a single drop could fall in.

The wind seemed to have been filtered out, leaving only cool and moist air, but no longer carrying that biting cold and dampness.

Jiang Xiaochuan paused, turning his head to the side.

Lu Xueqi continued to look ahead, her profile appearing somewhat hard in the hazy light of the day. Her jaw was taut, and she had no expression. Only the spiritual energy barrier that isolated them from the terrible weather outside remained stable.

He blinked, and the slight irritation caused by the weather quietly dissipated, replaced by a soft warmth in his heart.

He leaned his shoulder closer to Lu Xueqi, his arm brushing against her cool yet soft fabric, and his voice softened, carrying a hint of intimacy and dependence that he himself was unaware of: "You're the best."

Lu Xueqi did not respond, but the spiritual energy barrier seemed to become more solid and comfortable.

Jiang Xiaochuan stared at the seemingly unchanging rain and mist for a while, feeling a bit stifled, and then thought of the two little figures on Qingyun Mountain.

It's been quite a few days since we left. I wonder if that kid Yunzhou has secretly gone to the back mountain to raid bird nests again, and if Yueyao is pestering Xiaobai for new kinds of snacks again.

He wasn't actually the kind of person who was particularly sentimental, but once he was away for a long time, a corner of his heart would always feel empty and he would miss it.

"This rain isn't going to stop anytime soon, and just waiting around isn't going to help." He took a breath of the air, which was much fresher after being filtered by the barrier, and turned to Lu Xueqi to say this.

"Let's go, let's find the Heavenly Emperor's Treasury as soon as possible, take what we need, and go home early. I miss those two little brats a bit, I wonder if they've given Xiaobai a hard time."

He said "go home" and "little brat" in a natural tone, with a touch of ordinary, warm concern.

Lu Xueqi finally withdrew her gaze from the depths of the rain and mist, turned her attention to his face.

She was much taller than him, and when she looked down at him, her eyes were deep, reflecting his slightly upturned face and the hazy sky and rain behind them. She didn't say anything, but simply reached out her arm, put it around his waist, and pulled him into her embrace with a little force.

Her embrace carried a familiar, crisp scent, along with the slightly cool moisture from flying on a sword, but my heart felt warm.

Jiang Xiaochuan was caught off guard by her embrace, his face pressed against her cool skin on her neck and her damp hair, his nose filled with her scent.

His ears felt a little hot, he twitched, and muttered softly, "...What?"

Lu Xueqi didn't answer. She lowered her head and gave him a light, quick kiss on his slightly parted lips, which were trembling with surprise. The touch was cool and soft, and the kiss was brief.

Then she tightened her arms, and the Tianya Sword was already hanging in front of her, emitting a low hum. Blue light shone, enveloping her and him. The next moment, the sword light broke through the continuous rain and thick fog, rushing towards the deeper part of the Dead Swamp, towards that faintly visible but always guiding golden pillar of light.

Jiang Xiaochuan was held tightly in her arms, his face buried in the crook of her neck, the slightly cool touch on his lips still lingering.

The sounds of rain, wind, and rustling leaves receded rapidly, becoming indistinct; only her heartbeat, steady and strong, came through our pressed chests.

The heat on his face hadn't subsided, so he simply stopped looking up, wrapped his arms around her tight, supple waist, and buried himself even deeper inside her.

Oh well, let's just hug. It's not the first time.
