Dazhu Peak, bamboo forest on the back mountain.

Tian Ling'er played with Jiang Yunzhou and Jiang Yueyao in the woods. It wasn't the first time she had seen these two children, but every time she saw them, she was still amazed by their delicate features that resembled Lu Xueqi's.

Jiang Yueyao, in particular, at such a young age, already showed the potential to captivate everyone in the future, but her personality seemed to be much more lively and agile than her mother's.

Jiang Yunzhou was more composed. Despite his young age, he possessed a certain calm demeanor, much like his father. However, his eyes were very much like Lu Xueqi's, clear and bright.

"Aunt Ling'er, look! Bamboo shoots!" Jiang Yueyao, with her sharp eyes, pointed to a slightly raised mound of earth where tender yellow bamboo shoots were just beginning to sprout.

"Yueyao is amazing!" Tian Ling'er praised with a smile, walked over, and skillfully started digging with the small hoe she had brought.

As she dug, she couldn't help but glance at Jiang Yunzhou, who was standing quietly beside her, observing a strange fungus.

The child's focused expression suddenly reminded her of many years ago, of the boy who clumsily chased after her on the back mountain of Dazhu Peak. He was about the same age, with clear eyes, a touch of naivety, yet an indescribable stubbornness.

She paused, a faint sense of melancholy, which she herself was not even aware of, swept over her. She then shook her head, casting aside that inappropriate thought, and focused on digging bamboo shoots.

That's all in the past. He's doing well now, with a wife and children, living a peaceful life, and that's enough.

Little Gray rode on Big Yellow's back, squeaking in the distance.

The monkey seemed a bit listless, scratching its ears and cheeks, and didn't seem very interested in the tender bamboo shoots. Big Yellow, on the other hand, lay obediently to one side, sticking out its tongue.

Xiao Hui missed Jiang Xiaochuan a little, missing his "loving" slaps and his pocket that could always produce delicious food.

However, when it saw Jiang Yunzhou and Jiang Yueyao, it immediately became happy, squeaked and jumped off the big yellow dog's back, rushed to the two children's side, and danced with joy.

These two little ones are regulars, often bringing it treats. They are its second favorite human (children) after Jiang Xiaochuan.

Big Yellow wagged its tail and came over, rubbing its wet nose against the two children's hands, making them giggle.

The bamboo forest echoed with children's laughter, monkeys' squeaking, and Big Yellow's occasional barking. Sunlight filtered through the bamboo leaves, casting dappled shadows, and time seemed to slow down and become exceptionally gentle.

As evening fell, Tian Ling'er led the two children back to Xiaozhu Peak.

Jiang Xiaochuan and Lu Xueqi had tidied up and were waiting in the courtyard. Lu Xueqi was wiping Tianya, while Jiang Xiaochuan was cleaning the tea set on the stone table.

"Father! Mother!" Jiang Yueyao rushed into Lu Xueqi's arms like a happy little bird, while Jiang Yunzhou walked respectfully to Jiang Xiaochuan and called out "Father".

"Thank you for your trouble, Junior Sister Tian." Lu Xueqi picked up her daughter and nodded her thanks to Tian Ling'er.

"No trouble at all, Yunzhou Yueyao is very well-behaved."

Tian Ling'er smiled and waved her hand, her gaze lingering on Jiang Xiaochuan's face for a moment before quickly shifting to look at Lu Xueqi.

She said, "Both children have eaten at Dazhufeng and enjoyed it very much. I even packed some freshly dug bamboo shoots for them to take back with them."

"Thank you, Master's wife," Lu Xueqi said.

"Of course." Tian Ling'er glanced at Jiang Xiaochuan again. He seemed to be checking his son for dirt, his profile in the afterglow of the setting sun appearing gentle and calm. The inexplicable emotions in her heart suddenly dissipated.

She smiled and summoned the Amber Crimson Silk: "Then I'll head back now, Senior Sister Lu, Junior... Senior Brother Jiang, farewell."

The crimson silk ribbon, like a ribbon, carried her slender figure as it disappeared into the deepening twilight.

Jiang Xiaochuan straightened up, staring blankly in the direction she had disappeared. Lu Xueqi walked to his side and handed him their daughter, saying, "Take them to wash up. It's time to rest."

"Oh, okay." Jiang Xiaochuan took his daughter, then took his son's hand and walked into the house.

Jiang Yueyao leaned on his shoulder, still excitedly recounting the fun things that happened at Dazhu Peak that day. She said that Aunt Ling'er taught her to recognize several kinds of mushrooms, that Little Grey tried to steal her snacks but she caught him, and that Big Yellow carried her a long way...

After cleaning up the two children and putting them to sleep, Jiang Xiaochuan finally breathed a sigh of relief and walked out of the children's room. Just then, he saw Lu Xueqi helping Xiaobai, who was unsteady on her feet and reeking of alcohol, come in from outside.

"Why did you drink so much again?" Jiang Xiaochuan frowned and stepped forward to help support Xiaobai's other arm. The smell of alcohol mixed with her rich, sweet fragrance was a bit overpowering.

"I'm happy..." Xiao Bai mumbled indistinctly, leaning half of her body against Jiang Xiaochuan, her soft curves pressed tightly against his arm, her head tilted to the side, resting on his shoulder, her warm breath, carrying the scent of alcohol, spraying against his neck.

Lu Xueqi glanced at Xiaobai, said nothing, and only said to Jiang Xiaochuan, "I'll go heat up the food."

"Mmm." Jiang Xiaochuan responded, half-carrying and half-helping Xiaobai towards her room. Xiaobai's room was right next to theirs, simply furnished, but always filled with a faint, sweet fragrance similar to her own.

After finally getting the drunken fox to bed, Jiang Xiaochuan bent down to take off her shoes, but Xiaobai suddenly reached out and grabbed his wrist.

Her hands were cold, and her fingertips were slightly clenched.

"My little husband..." She opened her eyes, her gaze watery and unfocused, staring intently at him. Her voice was soft and sweet, tinged with intoxication, yet it seemed to hold something else within it, "Don't go..."

Jiang Xiaochuan paused, looking at her.

In the candlelight, her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes sparkled. Gone was her usual deliberate coquettishness; instead, she revealed a rare, unguarded softness.

"You're drunk, Xiaobai." He softened his voice, trying to pull his hand away. "Get some sleep."

"I'm not drunk..." Xiaobai gripped him tighter, struggling to sit up, but she didn't have much strength. She could only pull his hand closer, almost pressing it against her chest.

"My dear husband, look so closely..." She gazed at him intently, her eyes slightly unfocused yet straining to concentrate. "It smells so good..."

As she spoke, she leaned closer to him, as if she wanted to kiss him.

Jiang Xiaochuan was startled and instinctively turned his head to dodge.

Xiao Bai's soft lips didn't land on his lips, but only lightly brushed against his cheek.

Then, as if all her strength had been exhausted, she slumped back onto the bed, closed her eyes, and seemed to fall asleep instantly, though the hand that was holding his still stubbornly refused to let go.

Jiang Xiaochuan was stunned for a moment. The soft, slightly cool touch and strong smell of alcohol still seemed to linger on the spot where she had wiped his face. He composed himself, gently pried open Xiaobai's fingers, took off her shoes, pulled the thin blanket over her, and stood by the bed watching her for a while. Seeing that her breathing gradually became steady and long, and that she was indeed fast asleep, he sighed softly, blew out the candle, closed the door, and left.
