Chapter 128 The Cause Without a Cause

Facing the dozen or so cultivators rushing towards him, Qi Fei lightly tapped his finger, and several thunderous sounds suddenly exploded within their bodies, the muffled booms like muffled thunder rolling through their chests.

Those people were jolted, as if struck in the chest by an invisible giant hammer. They staggered a few steps, their eyes glazed over, and collapsed to the ground, unable to get up again.

These people embody both the essence of false and true teachings, and in Qi Fei's eyes, they are full of contradictions and flaws.

Even if ten times the number of such enemies came, they would be nothing more than a single lightning spell in his presence.

The Dragon Master was originally immersed in the great love and compassion of "God", his eyes and brows were full of piety and peace, as if he were bathed in boundless holiness.

But this blissful state was suddenly and rudely interrupted!

The one who interrupted her was Qi Fei, the same Qi Fei who had threatened her and forced her to lead the way in.

She had warned him, but he still ruthlessly tore apart that dreamlike and beautiful scene.

Dragon Master was furious, and his face instantly darkened.

Above the horizon, the light within the shadows grew even more intense.

Not just her, everyone present felt the pseudo-Dharma within their bodies boiling and evaporating, like dew under the scorching sun, with nowhere to escape.

By discerning shadows, one can distinguish all things in the world and discern the emptiness of their magical power.

Dragon Master was no exception.

Although she suffered greatly from it, she also practiced the true Dharma at the same time, so the impact on her was not significant.

Although her cultivation level in the True Law was not high, her understanding of it was quite profound, even more so than that of many who specialized in the True Law.

The reason she dared not delve deeply into true cultivation was that she feared she wouldn't be able to overcome the tribulation stage. She knew that dealing with a true cultivator like Qi Fei was far more deadly than using magic power.

Once a true cultivator's Dao heart collapses, they will naturally fall into demonic possession without any external force.

She took a deep breath and coldly transmitted her voice to Qi Fei, "What are you doing? Do you think you're doing the right thing?"

"You're just preventing more people from understanding God's great love and compassion!"

Qi Fei, his expression unchanged, said, "Where is the god? It's just an evil spirit faking its power, trying to possess the infant."

He intervened because he saw that strange entity about to possess the innocent infant. Otherwise, even if these madmen were messing with the silver handkerchief, it would have been none of his business.

The baby is so innocent, yet it has an unreliable mother. The tragedy begins even before it is born.

The Dragon Master remained unmoved, his gaze resolute: "God exists; it is the origin, the absolute rationality among us! Aren't you True Law cultivators most fond of talking about reason?"

Her tone held a hint of provocation: "Do you deny the existence of 'God'?"

She wasn't referring to clay or wooden puppets worshipped in temples, but rather to gods in a philosophical sense.

Metaphysical, invisible yet inferable existence.

The world is full of chaos, chance, and uncertainty.

But the rational world is different. Rationality means logic, order, and that everything has a traceable path.

What we can see are merely the surface and "shadow" of things; only what is deduced through reason is reliable.

Tracing back along the ladder of reason, and deducing from a metaphysical perspective, one will inevitably arrive at a source.

That source is "truth".

It is eternal, self-perfect, pure and unique, and unmoved by anything external.

Everything in the world that is finite has a "cause," and it is also a cause without cause.

This is the "god" she speaks of, and also the "god" they worship.

Upon hearing this, Qi Fei's lips curled slightly, revealing a cold smile: "That's not necessarily true."

He swept his gaze across the pregnant women with their protruding bellies, then looked up at the strange object in the sky and said, "There is something undifferentiated and complete, which existed before heaven and earth. Silent and still, it stands alone and unchanging, ever-present and inexhaustible. It can be regarded as the mother of heaven and earth. I do not know its name, so I call it the Way."

The Dao gives birth to them, Virtue nourishes them, things take shape, and circumstances bring them to fruition—it gives birth without possessing, acts without relying on its own power, and nurtures without dominating.

The Tao gives birth to all things, nourishes all things, and brings all things to fruition—but it gives birth to them without possessing them; it does everything without claiming credit; it nurtures all things without acting as their master, judge, or rule.

Qi Fei stared directly at Long Shi, his tone cold: "Heaven and earth are ruthless, treating all things like straw dogs. This is true benevolence. Your so-called great love and benevolence are nothing but nonsense."

Heaven and earth treat all things without favoritism or aversion. They are allowed to live and die naturally, without interference or imposition of favor or power.

If the heavens and earth truly favor a certain thing, then one day, for some reason, they will inevitably turn against it.

At that time, today's favor will become tomorrow's calamity.

If a person's rise and fall are entirely determined by the favor or dislike of heaven and earth, then how tragic would it be for a person to live?

For this reason, Qi Fei never believed that there was any "cause without cause" in the world, nor did he believe in the existence of any "god"!

He even denied the existence of "God" in a philosophical or metaphysical sense.

The world is inherently flawed, chaotic, and accidental. Not everything can be arranged in an orderly fashion along a perfect chain drawn from a "cause without cause."

"presumptuous!"

"Blasphemy!"

"What utter bullshit!"

"What nonsense are you spouting, you stinking man!"

Before he finished speaking, the cult erupted in uproar.

So many pregnant women, their faces flushed and eyes wide open, cursed at Qi Fei, their voices rising like a tidal wave, one wave after another, and the curses were quite offensive.

What they believe in is a "god" who is "eternal, absolutely stable, supreme, all-encompassing, dependable, and able to control the rules."

In this real world, everything is in flux, impermanent, fragile, and fleeting.

Humans are finite, degenerate, and incomplete.

Meaning, good and evil, order, truth—all these seemingly noble things are not things that humans can generate themselves, but rather things that come from the absolute first cause outside.

Humans cannot be self-sufficient; they must rely on others.

They need an anchor, an unchanging, supreme, constant, and reliable anchor.

By attaching oneself to this being and gaining the favor of the ruler, one can seize control of the ultimate rules and absolute truth of the universe.

The moral high ground.

Consequently, they would possess exemptions from world rules, privileges, preferential treatment, and protection from suffering.

The ultimate goal of all this is stability, order, privilege, and a sense of security.

"As long as I attach myself to this unchanging supreme being, I am freed from the suffering of worldly changes and possess legitimacy and authority that transcends all things."

This is precisely their deepest, hidden logic.

But Qi Fei's words just now were like a slap in the face, hard across their cheeks.
