I really didn't intend to make a living based on my looks.

The stage lights suddenly blazed on, and hosts Zhou Qun and Xie Nan appeared together.

She wore a red dress and a blue evening gown, her demeanor dignified and her smile appropriate.

Zhou Qun picked up the microphone: "Distinguished guests, welcome to the 2011 National Drama Awards! Tonight, let's kick off this grand event with songs. Please welcome our opening guests, Yang Mi and Jiang Chen!"

There was thunderous applause.

Jiang Chen came out first, and Yang Mi took his arm. The two walked down the steps side by side.

Her high heels were unsteady, so Jiang Chen subconsciously slowed down by half a step to let her use her strength.

The prelude begins.

The Power of Love.

Jiang Chen spoke first, "Holding you in my hands, I devoutly burn incense..."

Yang Mi continued with the second line, "Cut off a piece of candlelight, and light the scriptures..."

The two shared a deep, affectionate gaze...

The audience gasped...

These two don't seem to be acting...

When the chorus came, the whole audience sang along.

"I will dedicate my entire life to serving you, hoping only that you will stop your wandering gaze..."

"Please grant me the power to give and receive boundless love, so that I may peacefully meditate beneath the Bodhi tree..."

The venue, with over two thousand people, was filled with a cacophony of voices.

Jiang Chen held the microphone, his gaze sweeping over the dark mass of people below the stage before returning to his side.

Yang Mi was looking at him, the gold sequins dazzling under the light, but the light in her eyes was even brighter than the sequins.

She even took the opportunity to gently hook her little finger with his.

Jiang Chen was speechless...

In the second row, Jing Tian sat in the middle, wearing a white haute couture gown, pearl earrings, and exquisite makeup.

She was clapping with a smile, a standard business-like fake smile.

Then she turned her head and said to Zhao Shanshan beside her, "Damn it."

Zhao Shanshan was taken aback, and subconsciously lowered her voice: "Da Tiantian, watch out for the camera."

Jing Tian's smile froze on his face.

She was mainly thinking about when she first debuted.

In 2006, she released an EP called "Who Are You", produced by Zhang Yadong, and the music video was directed by Ning Hao.

At that time, she was full of confidence, thinking she could succeed in both singing and acting, but the album sold less than 10,000 copies...

She bought most of it herself...

He was even criticized by netizens...

She later went to Zhang Yadong and asked him why.

Zhang Yadong said, "You have great potential, but when it comes to singing, it's all about fate."

fate?

What kind of fate is this?

Now she understands.

Yang Mi can't sing as well as her; she just has a plain, unrefined voice.

But their song "The Power of Love" became a hit everywhere, with over ten million ringtone downloads.

After all that, it turns out it wasn't that Jing Tian was bad, it was the songwriter who was bad!

unlucky.

She also recalled the news she had heard a few days ago that Yang Mi had signed a music contract with Shaocheng Times, with Feng Ke in charge of the entire operation, and that it would be jointly released with Universal Music, and that they would be making an album for her.

Album!

Even Jing Tian didn't receive this kind of treatment back then!

.

And it all started with that handsome young man standing on the stage, singing a sweet duet with Yang Mi.

She turned her head to the side. "Sister Shan, I'll give you one night. I need all of Jiang Chen's information."

Zhao Shanshan: "..."

She opened her mouth as if to say something, but seeing Jing Tian's gaze, she swallowed her words back.

It seems like he hasn't given up yet?

Well, if the young lady wants to play, let her do it...

"Okay, I'll give it to you first thing tomorrow morning."

Jing Tian withdrew his gaze, put on his standard smile again, and clapped lightly at the camera.

Just then, the song ended, and the two bowed.

They returned to the studio, where staff bent down to guide them to their seats, but in two different directions.

"Teacher Yang Mi, over here."

The guide pointed to Section A, which was in the center of the first row of the audience.

You could recognize the faces of those sitting in that row with just a glance.

Liu Shishi, Wen Zhang, Ma Yili, Hu Ge... they are all top-tier celebrities.

After Yang Mi's breakout role in "Palace" a year ago, she has already broken into the top tier of actresses born in the 85s, and her position directly reflects her status.

As she took her seat, Liu Shishi, who was sitting next to her, turned to greet her. The two exchanged pleasantries in hushed tones, and the sight of the four young actresses on stage together drew screams from the fans in the audience.

Another staff member walked up to Jiang Chen and pointed in a completely different direction.

"Teacher Jiang Chen, your seat is this way, let me lead you there."

She led Jiang Chen away from the central section where many celebrities gathered, and stopped at the sixth row, which was closer to the side.

Jiang Chen glanced down at the name tag stuck on the back of the chair.

The glue was applied crookedly, revealing a somewhat perfunctory attitude.

After taking their seats, Zhang Jianing was on the left and Lin Gengxin was on the right.

One gained recognition through the popular family drama "A Beautiful Era of Daughter-in-Law", while the other has just started to make a name for himself with "Scarlet Heart" and has gained some popularity.

Sitting in the back row were a group of up-and-coming actresses, including Jiang Mengjie and Li Xin. Most of them were supporting actresses or came from niche dramas, belonging to the inconspicuous third tier in the industry. Throughout the ceremony, they were arranged in the middle to outer section to fill in the seats.

Jiang Chen was able to sit here partly because Yang Mi recommended him to be the opening guest.

Otherwise, I might not have invited him.

It's not that he's not well-known, but rather that these events involve the relationship between talent agencies and capital.

As soon as Jiang Chen sat down, all eyes turned to him.

There was no other way; the two fourteenth princes were sitting together.

One is the Fourteenth Prince in "Palace," and the other is the Fourteenth Prince in "Scarlet Heart."

The two dramas aired one after the other, both were time-travel dramas, both were Qing Dynasty dramas, both featured the Fourteenth Prince, and even their character settings were similar.

Yu Zheng and Cai Yinong have recently been exchanging insults on Weibo, with one calling Yu Zheng a "plagiarist" and the other calling him a "porcelain-grabbing swindler," and their fans are constantly fighting.

Jiang Chen glanced at Lin Gengxin out of the corner of his eye.

The dream of 900 million girls?

He sat casually, head down, playing on his phone, completely oblivious to the stares of those around him.

Sensing Jiang Chen's gaze, Lin Gengxin looked up and grinned, "What are you looking at?"

Northeastern accent, straightforward and honest.

Jiang Chen swallowed back his "What are you doing?"...

"I didn't look at anything, I just thought it was funny that the two of us were sitting together."

Lin Gengxin

Jiang Chen

"Bro, that song you sang was really good! I sat here listening for ages, it was amazing. When are you going to teach me?"

"Fine, then tell me first, how did you pass your acting classes? Didn't the director beat you up for acting in 'Scarlet Heart' with that Northeastern accent?"

Lin Gengxin clicked his tongue: "Post-production dubbing, huh? Post-production dubbing."

The two looked at each other and laughed at the same time.

In the back row, Jiang Mengjie whispered to Li Xin, "Are the two Fourteenth Princes chatting? Xin Xin, which one do you think is more handsome?"

"Shh..."

Li Xin raised her hand and gently tugged at her sleeve, her gaze unconsciously sweeping over Jiang Chen in the front row.

Is there even a need to compare?

He's definitely handsome!

The awards ceremony continued.

The Best New Actor award went to Li Moumou, who went on stage to accept the award for his role in "Sunny Happiness".

Jiang Chen gave him a relieved look...

Helping others always brings happiness!

The Best New Actress award went to Gan Tingting for her role as Pan Jinlian in the new version of "Water Margin".

The Best Supporting Actress award went to Zhang Kaili, who played Tong Jiaqian's mother in "Naked Wedding Era." The veteran actress received significantly more applause when she took the stage.

When Yang Mi received the Most Popular Award, Guo Degang went on stage to present the award and immediately joked, "Mi Mi's popularity this year is almost inhumane. I can hear 'The Power of Love' everywhere I go."

The whole audience burst into laughter.

Yang Mi accepted the trophy and replied with a smile, "Would Teacher Guo like to sing a duet with me?"

"No, no, no, if I open my mouth, the audience will all run away."

The laughter grew even louder.

It was nearly midnight when the show ended.

Staff guided the guests to leave in batches, with those in the front row leaving first and those in the back waiting.

As Jiang Chen walked out through the side passage, he received a text message from Da Mimi.

"Shishi and I are going to sing karaoke later. I'll give you a chance to be her protector."

"Back door, Exit B, silver van. Hurry up."

Jiang Chen: "..."
