Elven cultivators

Chapter 357 Just waiting for the prey to take the bait

Ash Wasteland, Deeprock City.

This once bustling town, belonging to Deeprock Territory, is now nothing but devastated ruins.

The ruins of walls and rubble stretch along both sides of the main street, with charred beams lying between piles of stones. A lingering smell of burning and blood still hangs in the air.

Evan stopped in front of a broken wall and silently scanned his surroundings with his divine sense.

Large patches of dark brown old stains remained on the ground, long since dried into thin flakes, embedded between the soil and gravel, like a layer of faded paint.

Occasionally, a gust of wind would pass through the ruins, stirring up fine ash and dust that swirled between the broken walls, emitting a low, mournful sound.

Occasionally, one can see a broken blade or a shard of armor among the ruins, but anything of real value has long been looted by the adventurers who come later.

"Is there really a spirit weapon here?" Ryan kicked away a fragment of a shield that was half-buried in the soil at his feet, making a crisp clanging sound.

Evan withdrew his gaze and said calmly, "According to those adventurers, they found the several spirit weapons they possessed here. They have no reason to lie to us about something like this."

"That's true." Ryan looked around at the desolate scene, a hint of emotion in his voice. "Deep Rock Territory was a medium-sized power with hundreds of years of history, yet it was destroyed in a single day."

"I heard that the attack on Deeprock City was carried out by a pack of wolves. I wonder where those monsters came from?"

"Who knows?" Evan shook his head. "This is the border area between the eastern and northern parts of the continent. Maybe they came from over there."

He glanced deeper into the ruins. "Even if there was anything in the outer area, it should have been looted by the adventurers. Let's search a little deeper, but be careful, the wolf pack is still in these ruins."

Ryan nodded solemnly, holding the magic sword in one hand and taking out a Vajra talisman from his talisman pouch with the other, ready to activate it at any time. Then he followed Evan carefully forward.

According to the adventurers, even the weakest of those giant wolf monsters possessed the strength of a Gold-rank monster.

There were even powerful monsters that appeared to be of legendary rank.

Even though they were both Foundation Establishment cultivators, they dared not let their guard down.

As you go deeper in, the broken tiles and ash under your feet accumulate to a thicker and thicker layer.

The once neat stone pavement has long been buried by layers of collapsed walls and beams. In some places, the original street outline is no longer visible, leaving only an uneven pile of ruins.

Evan and Ryan had to use a lightness charm on themselves to avoid making noise by stepping on gravel.

A moment later, Evan pushed aside a section of the fallen roof beam, squeezed through a narrow gap, and was about to step into the open area ahead when he suddenly stopped.

Ryan reacted quickly. He had been on high alert, and as soon as he saw Evan stop, he also stopped.

Without asking any questions, he simply gripped his longsword tightly, his true energy circulating and gathering power in his meridians, ready to strike at any moment.

Evan's gaze was fixed on a building two or three hundred meters ahead.

It was a half-collapsed stone building, the roof had completely collapsed, and only the four walls were barely holding on, covered with spider web-like cracks, and the area below the walls was piled with rubble and tiles.

From the outside, it is no different from the surrounding ruins.

Evan's divine sense clearly detected several unusual auras within.

Without hesitation, he raised his hand and gently swept it across the air. Where his fingertips touched, a very faint layer of water vapor condensed into a thin mirror, floating in front of him.

The mirror trembled slightly twice before gradually stabilizing, blurring the view of the interior of the building in front of it.

In the footage, the interior of the warehouse appears much more intact than the exterior.

Rows of huge objects covered with tarpaulins stood on the ground.

Evan's gaze swept quickly across the area, pausing briefly on the metallic outlines peeking out from the edges of the tarpaulins.

He saw the complete spine of the blade, the undamaged tip of the halberd, and even several shields that were in remarkably good condition.

Even through the magic, the subtle and profound spiritual fluctuations were still clearly reflected in his perception.

"They're all spirit weapons," Evan said in a low voice, but there was no joy in his tone.

Because beside those weapons, the three giant wolves were lying quietly.

The two smaller animals lay near the door, their limbs tucked in and their heads resting on their front paws, as if they were dozing off, but their ears would occasionally twitch slightly, clearly remaining alert.

The innermost end, however, is significantly larger.

In the dim indoor light, the gray-black fur almost blended into the shadows, with only the dark red mane around its neck standing out in the dim light, like congealed blood lines embedded at the edge of the fur.

Its breathing was slow and deep, each rise and fall bringing out a very faint ripple of breath.

Even through the detection spells, Evan could feel a pressure pressing down on him as if it were a physical entity.

"Golden Peak... no, it's Legendary Rank." Evan's expression was unusually solemn.

Without actually engaging in combat, one could tell from the silent, oppressive feeling in one's spiritual sense that it was a genuine legendary magical beast.

He only glanced at it from afar, and a silent warning came from the depths of his being.

Ruian's expression grew increasingly solemn.

However, neither of them was particularly surprised by this.

Deep Rock Territory is a force with legendary powerhouses, capable of annihilating the wolf pack there. It would be unreasonable to say that there are no legendary figures among them.

"It seems like a head-on confrontation is not an option." Evan frowned.

If it were only those two gold-rank giant wolves, they might still be willing to take the risk.

However, a powerful giant wolf of legendary rank is not something they can contend with.

They are not clan leaders, yet they possess the power to directly confront legendary experts at the Gold rank.

"Let's retreat," Evan decided immediately. "The situation here is beyond our control. Take the intelligence back and have the tribe send someone else to take over."

Ryan nodded, not trying to be brave.

Although it was a bit of a shame that we didn't get the Soul Weapon, gathering accurate intelligence was a significant contribution in itself.

Chengshitang is always generous with contribution points for this kind of high-level intelligence, so this trip was at least not a complete waste.

Without much hesitation, the two turned around and quietly retreated from the ruins along the way they had come.

Only after returning to the wasteland outside the city did the two use their magic to speed towards the Primordial Spirit Realm.

Shortly after they left, several figures silently emerged from the shadows on the side of the building.

The wolf at the front was tall with broad shoulders and back, and its silver-gray fur was piled up very thickly on its shoulders, as if it were covered with a layer of frost.

He stared intently in the direction where Evan and Ryan had disappeared, a fleeting glint of light flashing in his vertical pupils before he regained his usual indifference.

Olsen lagged half a step behind and whispered, "Clan leader, will this really lure that Meteor Dragon Sword Saint over? What if the Silver Moon Clan sends other legendary warriors..."

"Then let's take out those legendary warriors first." Strom said indifferently, "If one or two legends die, Anton will have no choice but to come in person, and we can also use this opportunity to weaken the Silvermoon Clan's top warriors."

The werewolves present exchanged glances and all nodded.

However, one of the wolf-blood elders frowned and said, "Chieftain, for the sake of Anton, we not only mobilized all our Saint-level combat power, but also specially set up the Dragon Bone Blood Prison. Those few Saint-level dragon skeletons were intercepted from the post-war cleanup after the Dragon Slaying War, which took us a lot of effort. Isn't using them on Anton at such a high price?"

Even this elder saint couldn't help but show a hint of heartache when talking about the remains of a saint-level dragon.

After all, those were the remains of a Saint-level dragon.

Whether used for fusing bloodlines or for crafting magical equipment, it is an extremely rare and valuable item.

Even though the Bloodclaw Clan is wealthy, spending all of that money at once is enough to make people feel the pinch for a long time.

Strom remained expressionless and said calmly, "It's worth it as long as we can take down Anton."

Olsen laughed, "If we can exchange a few Saint-level dragon skeletons for the Silvermoon Clan's territory and trade network, as well as their exclusive alchemy formulas, it wouldn't be a bad deal."

He paused, then added, "It's a pity that Bloodhowl Fortress refused to contribute; otherwise, we would have been even more confident in annihilating the Silvermoon Clan."

The wolf elder who had spoken earlier sneered upon hearing this: "Rexxar makes it sound nice, saying he doesn't want to escalate the war. In the end, he just wants to reap the benefits without lifting a finger and let us get rid of the Silvermoon Clan, this unstable factor, for them."

Olsen chuckled and said, "Bloodhowl Fortress's current focus is on the battlefield against the Emerald Court, so it's not surprising that they can't spare any manpower."

"However, it's not a bad thing that they refuse to send troops. If Bloodhowl Fortress gets involved, the lion's share of our spoils will be taken. This is just right, and all the Silvermoon Clan's things are ours."

After hearing what Olsen said, the wolf elder's expression softened slightly.

Indeed, even if it were just the Bloodclaw Clan, it would be enough to wipe out the Silvermoon Clan.

Just in case, they also united with many small and medium-sized forces in the eastern part of the continent who were unhappy with the Silvermoon Clan.

With such a lineup, they are more than capable of dealing with the Silvermoon Clan.

There's no need to let Bloodhowl Fortress get involved again.

That hungry wolf was always extremely greedy. In any war it intervened in, allied races like them would at most only get scraps.

Storm then interrupted their conversation: "Is the Soul Concealment Veil all set up?"

"It's all set up," Olsen said immediately.

Strom nodded slightly, his gaze fixed intently on the direction of Eldron Plains.

"Now, we just have to wait for the prey to take the bait."
